This is a beautiful family friendly park. It's always clean and my kids love the park. We spend about an hour a plus a day, three to five times a week.

This is my ultimate favorite park since I was little. Love everything this park has to offer. This year, they renovated to make it more spacious with even more benches, just in time for the summer time vibes. During the summer evenings, we loved coming here to watch the sunset over the water. Huge lawn area where you can park your picnic blanket and throw a football or kick a soccer ball around. You can always get a handball court and you know those are hard to come by in nyc parks. Their 5 basketball court is alwaysssss busyyyyyyyyyyyyy. But ordinarily, it's welcoming. I meet people who tend to frequent this park from other neighborhoods.

During the summer, friends of Francis Lewis do an awesome job setting up events like a summer concert etc. all year around as a matter of fact. They be hosting Halloween parties, block parties etc. This group is friendly, dedicated and awesome! They're always committed to gardening and cleaning the park. Very friendly group. Parking can be a bit of a pain, but if you're willing to walk, parking by the Whitestone expwy would be the way to go. Last but not least, I love watching the bocce players. They play a serious game. Not many parks have bocce, like spaghetti park, so this a gem.

The beautiful little park in northern Queens with an unobstructed view of the Whitestone Bridge. Clean with ample street parking.

If you like your NYC parks with bridges and water but a little more low-key, Francis Lewis Park is just the locale.

Francis Lewis isn't the biggest park but it makes up for it in views and amenities. There's a beach area where you can amble around, admire the Whitestone Bridge, and watch the boats sail by in the East River. And do some birdwatching, I spotted some brant geese bobbing around in the waves close to shore.

Even though it was a cooler day, the temperatures didn't deter the gentlemen from their bocce games. A spacious green meadow looked perfect for hanging out.

The only negative was the bathroom situation. The women's side was locked, and the men's side was abysmal. Maybe try to avoid using the restroom if at all possible.

The official website has some information on Francis Lewis who I learned was born in Wales and became a successful merchant, eventually retiring to Whitestone. He also signed the Declaration of Independence.

This is not a review of Francis Lewis Park but an expression of appreciation about the people who commented and posted pictures about the Francis Lewis Park. I grew up in the Jamaica Hills, Queens area and attended St. Francis Prep on Francis Lewis Boulevard, bit I never learned Francis Lewis' background! His name was just a name that was part of the local landscape.

Today, I am sitting here at my desk doing research for a workbook that will be part of my book The Learned It In Queens Communications Playbook and I've learned a ton of information in 15 minutes!

      Thank you contributors.

A friend recommended this park and glad that I stopped by, it was worth the visit. The Whitestone bridge view is captivating. The sound of the water waves and the breeze of the air are relaxing. The vista of the afar nearby town is beautiful. The park has huge green fields perfect for picnicking, exercising and playing. There is a nice children playground. Street parking only. Location is in a safe neighborhood. Close to parkway exits.

A recommended park to visit especially that it doesn't get much crowded comparable to other parks nearby.

Cute scenic park. You can go up close to the tides and sand. See the pretty bridge and lights.

There are several spots to chill whether on the grass field, basketball court, or benches.

The vibes are good. Lot of children running around and senior citizens relaxing. Safe place to visit with your loved ones.

      I enjoyed it

What a beautiful park! I love how spacious it is and the views of the Whitestone Bridge are gorgeous! This a great park to go to if you are into photography. I highly recommend coming when sun is setting -you'll get amazing effects of the water and bridge.

For me, my favorite part about this park is that it almost never gets to crowed. It's a great place to chill and there's a lot to do here. They have a couple of basketball courts, bocce ball lanes, a good size playground with a cute little spash pad, a small beach where people sometimes go fishing at and lots of grassy trails. There are buses that stop close by but also plenty of street parking if you are driving here. The neighborhood is quiet which makes for a nice relaxing and safe atmosphere in the park. The whole park is really clean and there are bathrooms near the basketball courts.

It really is a great park and a hidden gem in Queens.
