Frank's Auto Service is well deserving of their great reputation. I have brought two vehicles to them for service over the last few years and they have always done great work in a timely manner, with clear communication and professionalism. They have never pushed for unnecessary service, only what was needed or recommended. I had an issue with my emissions system after a recent service and DJ 100% stood behind their work and remedied the situation to my total satisfaction. I would recommend this shop to anyone that wants good work done and wants a shop with high integrity.

I went in to get my hybrid battery checked. I paid $225 for a diagnosis. I called another shop and they do the same diagnostics for free. It is odd to me that this shop will charge $225 that another shop will do for free?

This review needs a little clarity. Customer presented this vehicle to us for a check hybrid system warning light on. This light can come on for a wide range of concerns. Customer requested that we perform testing and inspection to determine the cause of the concern. We gained authorization from the customer for testing prior to any testing being performed, for which he did authorize. Once the testing was complete then we contacted the customer and provided the results which I have included here as well for context.
P0A80.BATTERY BLOCK DATASHOWS HYBRID BATTERY BAD. QUITE A VARIANCE BETWEEN INDIVIDUAL CELLS. 1-14.24 2-14.04 3-13.97 4-13.9 5-13.73 6-13.63 7-13.51 8-13.38 9-11.95 10-12.99 11-12.93 12-12.53 13-13.6 14-13.6 15-13.75 16-13.9 17-14.22 Block # 11 is bad. Suggest replacing Hybrid battery pack.
We are professionals in what we do and provide comprehensive testing when asked to and that is what this customer requested and received. There may be shops out there that are low level and bottom tier trying to pull bait and switches with offering free diagnoses. However, the appearance of "free" is not always what it seems. Months ago, I tried Frank's because my Sonata Hybrid had a check engine light that was on and it would begin to misfire (shake) on random drives. I had a really good extended warranty and tried to take it to the dealership service department but I had a very hard time getting a hold of them. I chose Frank's because of their high reviews.
The first visit, they check engine light went off for a couple of days and came back on and my car continued to misfire. They did let me know that they felt that problem was tough to diagnose and they had tried to rule out a few things. They were kind and made it easy for me to take my car back.
After having my car from morning until late afternoon again, they called me to let me know they basically needed me to bring my car back again.
This happened around another 2-3 more times. Finally, they tried to tell me that the engine may have some carbon buildup and that they may need to just clean the engine. They told me they would submit the claim to my warranty but sound skeptical that I would be covered.
So I finally called Hyundai service again and I got them to answer. They diagnosed my car with needing some new ignition cables, seals, and spark plugs. The problem was fixed pretty easily.
I'm giving Frank's three stars because:
1) the service representative that worked with me directly, DJ, was great. He was knowledgeable and tried his best to explain to me what they thought was going on with my car.
2) the driver they have that took me home from the shop and picked me up when my car was ready was also nice.
3) their prices for regular services such were reasonable.
4) even though I felt I had many days without a car wasted, for what it's worth, I can tell the mechanics really tried to figure this out. It's possible that the dealership service department may have some diagnostic equipment that other mechanics don't have. I'm not sure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Sam, Thank you for taking the time to let us know your vehicle is back on the road and running well. Unfortunately, every instance our master technician was able to test your Hyundai, we couldn’t get a clear result of what the failure was. The symptom your engine was experiencing was fairly intermittent and we don’t like guessing, and possibly spending money on something that we are not confident will fix a concern. I’m glad to know that your Sonata is running good again and look forward to seeing you in the future.

Tried to like these guys till they charged me $4000 and didn't fix the problem. The sad part they lost lots of work in the future..

This is truly disheartening to read from one small business to another that this customer has as well. The vehicle was brought into us back in October of last year for a check engine light and rough running condition. For context, this vehicle is a 2001 Astro van with 200,000 miles on it and is in pretty rough condition with the type of work it is used for. Our testing led us to a couple different repairs but the same rough running condition and check engine light persisted. After some further testing the results indicated a larger concern inside the engine. Knowing the frustration of spending a lot of money and not getting the vehicle repaired properly we offered money back to the customer or other possible solutions we could help with. The customer stated they needed some time to decide what they wanted to do with the van and they would let us know. Since last year, this is the first we are hearing back on this situation after repeated phone calls. We usually do not take in older fleet vehicles, but against our better judgement we have worked on this one a few times. Vehicle repair is not easy but we try to make it right when we can.

My son moved up to this area from San Diego to attend school. He has a 16 year old Hyundai (90k on it) that we've taken to a local shop for years.
We really needed to find a place he develop a relationship to keep this car running for the next four years at least LOL.

I had a problem with a battery terminal not being tight which seems to be a design defect in all Acura RDX models.
This resulted in my wife being stranded with what seemed like a dead battery when it was actually the clamp to battery had come out loose.
In spite of being super busy, Paul immediately brought a washer that will fit and tightened it so the problem will not happen again.

This will be my goto place as well as the place where I refer my friends, and family. I had an huge amount of work done to my Ford Explorer with this shop. Couple months later I brought it back under their warranty with a warranty concern. They fixed it with zero money out of my pocket. No hassles, and no additional mark ups. Not one issue at all with bringing it back ! I will always have my cars work done here. This is how all shoos should be! Highly recommend bringing your car to these folks.

We have 3 cars plus we have the car of a relative who can no longer drive. We have been going to Frank's almost exclusively for over a dozen years, and the times I haven't, I wished I had.
Frank's has always treated us fairly, kept our budget in mind and done a great job. The only complaint came from the elderly in-law whose gripe was that they fixed the least expensive critical problems first rather than those beyond value and/or budget.
