Solid food at a reasonable price. You always know what you're going to get at Friedmans.
Service was good although we had to flag our waiter down for hot sauce.
Ambiance is nice at any time of the dayHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 4, 2024
Hmm really confused and not sure if it's an off experience but the brunch was very bland. I think chef forgot to season or thought it was a healthy shop. But the breakfast sandwich lacked flavor. No seasoning.
The buttermilk chicken dinner was very dry. LIKE VERY. In order to eat it, we had to douse it with tons of sauce and it just ruined our experience. We relayed it to the workers but they said it was the way it is and that it's gluten free (not sure what a gluten free chicken means or has to do with its dryness). Literally scratched our throats.
Upon entering, I also asked to sit in the brighter seating area where some customers were already seated. They said they are closing that section and no longer seating new customers there. No problem I thought. They said that area is for the morning and it was now around 2 pm.
While eating, I ended up seeing customers (parties of all sizes from 2 to 5 plus) continuously getting seated in that area.
Coffee was incredibly watery and bland.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 12, 2024
Our group of four came by on a Saturday for brunch at 12:30. It was crowded but we didn't wait too long. In fact, it's a pretty well-oiled machine they have running. We must have gotten our food within 5 minutes of ordering, and yes, it was hot - so they must have certain things prepped beforehand. We had an order of the lemon ricotta pancakes for the table to share. I was really excited for these but they were kind of disappointed. There was not enough lemon flavor or ricotta. They just tasted like pancakes with a hint of lemon. For my main, I wanted to try the fried chicken, which is what they're known for. But I didn't want the chicken dinner, so I went with the fried chicken sandwich. For lack of better words, it was thick and juicy. The chicken was perfectly fried. It does get pretty messy though. It also comes with a side of fries.
Can't believe I've waited so long to try Friedman's! Don't let the brunch crowds deter you. Everything moves quickly and is very efficient. We were in and out in less than an hour.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 86203327Aug 11, 20241 check-in
The guacamole is amazing!!!! Love that everything is GF or can be altered. Had the pot stickers as those are hard to get other places. They were good but could use some meat inside. The fish tacos are sooooooo good. My husband who is not GF loved all his food!! We came in at 8pm, sore after a long weekend of sight seeing. We were sat at the bar and had asked for a booth but they are said they were only for 3 or more people. The lady behind the counter was kind and said they could find us something. They sat us at a small table and the back rest was sooo much better!

Had a layover here in queens for a day, so me and my fellow flight attendants wanted brunch and I found this spot. Yelp is the best tool when you don't live in the area. We got to the restaurant and we got sat immediately! Which is a big bonus... it was Friday and they had happy hour on drinks and snacks/appetizers. Happy hour was 2-6pm. My drink was delicious. I got the ELDERFLOWER SPRITZ. So good and refreshing on a hot New York day. I ordered the fries and I just want to say how absolutely delish these were. The ranch is a hit so do yourself a favor and order these for the table. Fries are a must. Me and one of the girls shared the shakshuka. Lots of feta which makes everything bettahh. It was very flavorful and enjoy the bread. The other girls got the chicken wings and it was a hit, they enjoyed them. The service was great and everyone was asking us if we needed anything. Loved the restaurant and the ambiance. Such a cute little brunch spot.
Overall we all loved this place and left with full satisfied tummiesHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Josh H.Whittier, CA105815Aug 16, 2024
While visiting New York for a birthday trip. I found this place close to our hotel. We were greeted by the friendly hostess and seated right away. Ambience is casual but nice. I love the subway tiles and natural lighting. we ordered some coffee and the pancakes along with an omelette. We like to try multiple items so we always share plates. The omelette was a basic omelette but the pancakes were delicious. Our server was very attentive and friendly.

Great brunch spot. Many choice on the menu on Sunday. Service is great. Everyone is very nice. Bathroom is clean. Booth is comfortable. It does get crowded so go early.

What an amazing menu for someone who struggles with finding GF options! I had the choc chip pancakes, latte was great, service was above & beyond our waitor was amazing. Only thing is $8 for orange juice that isn't fresh pressed is a rip off. OJ from the grocery store shouldn't be more than $5 IMO. Everything else was great. We didn't have enough room on our table and the waitor kindly pushed another table together so we would have more room.

Had a wonderful breakfast here prior to some shopping while staying in herald square and couldn't have been more satiated. They don't take reservations but they work very efficiently to keep things moving. We were lucky enough to get seated right away on a Thursday morning.
My son and I both had the berry French toast, wife had the omelette and daughter had the eggs w style. Everything was cooked to perfection! French toast was fluffy but not runny, omelette had great flavor, and eggs were over hard just the way she likes them. Coffee was decent but not really the highlight. Real maple syrup was big plus.
Service wasn't overly friendly but was definitely efficient; which I prefer anyway. There's some really tight spots where we were seated and somehow the hostess/manager cut in front of me on both the way in and out which was kind of strange but maybe she didn't like my shirt or something? $150 after 22% tip for 4 patrons and no alcohol felt a bit steep, but I must say the quality of the product made it worth every penny.
Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here every time I'm in midtown and look forward to going back in the future to try the ricotta pancakes or even some of their more savory items.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
