Fringe & Fern Collective

Due to my ongoing allergy issue it was time to change my long locks to a shoulder length more manageable style. Enter in Fringe + Fern Collective.

I tend to be someone who likes merged spaces. My optometrist in San Mateo was part fro-yo shop and my peninsula hair stylist was part embroidery shop for awhile. There's just something about it I love, so a hair stylist part plant store? Sign me up.

Blaine really made the process of cutting off my "it's always been long" hair amazingly comfortable. He checked in with me frequently about length and layering. I expected there to be tears, either before or after, but not a single tear was shed. I love the cut so much that I wish I'd done it sooner and I'm actually jazzed now to go even shorter.

All in all, 10's across the board and I can't recommend Fringe + Fern Collective enough. I absolutely adore my cut.

I reached out to Blaine at Fringe + Fern Collective because I was looking for a stylist that could do a nice scissor cut on my hair and also trim my beard. I am grateful I found Blaine. He did a great job on my hair and my beard. He took extra time to help me find the right product for my hair and gave me a lesson on how to style it properly. Thank you Blaine! An added bonus was the beautiful plants in the salon. This portion is managed by Shelby who is extremely knowledgeable about plants and helped me find a really nice house plant for an area that has low light in our house. She took extra time to tell us how to care for it and how to water it properly. Thank you both!

As a long-time, fantastically happy client, I've followed Kyle--an extremely talented hair stylist and colorist--from San Francisco, to Fremont, to Martinez, to Orinda, and now, to Walnut Creek at the charming Fringe & Fern salon. Not only is Kyle an exceptional hair designer, he's also an attentive listener who brings new ideas to the table every visit, keeping my fine, thin hair lovely and fresh over many years. Add to the mix that he's kind, smart, funny, and just an all-around stellar human being, I have no desire to go anywhere else for hair care. After one visit with Kyle, neither will you ;)

First of all, this shop? Omgosh is the cutest ever!
The moment you walk in you get this magical feeling of calmness. The decor is so beautiful and their attention to the details is what keeps you in awe.

I came in for a haircut because I haven't had one in years! (hi pandemic lol) ... I was in desperate need of a cut to make my hair look nice and healthy again.

I texted Sarah who, on the website, states that she specializes in women's hair. I advised her of my needs and she was able to squeeze me in in 2 days!

Sarah is so sweet and a great conversationalist. She listens to what you want and doesn't overdo it; always checking in with your comfort along the way.

When she showed me the before and after picture I was so happy. Take a look at them yourself and you'll see what I mean.

Blaine was awesome! Super friendly and the salon is just too cute! I had to buy a plant on the way out. Such a great experience and fun place to buy a plant or get a haircut (or both ). I love my haircut. Blaine was a very good listener and helped me clarify what I wanted. I really didn't have a clear idea of exactly how I envisioned my hair, but after a few questions, Blaine helped me make a decision. My hair is fine, and Blaine had some tips for me. Highly recommend!

My first visit here was with Sarah and it certainly won't be my last! Sarah took the time to learn about my approach to daily hair styling and care, and gave me a beautiful cut to match my wants and needs. I was in a rut and feeling like my hair was dull and blah due to aging. But Sarah worked her magic and I walked out with shiny and bouncy hair. She is knowledgeable about hair products and gave me tips to help me love my hair again.

It's so nice to go in their shop and be surrounded by greenery. Everyone was friendly and inviting. I want to go back to buy a few plants! And of course I'll be back to see Sarah again.

I'm so glad I came here to see Sarah! I came in with highlights done that didn't look natural at all and I was not happy with them. Sarah was able to accommodate me last minute and knew exactly what to do. She saved my hair and was able to color it how I wanted it in the first place. I definitely will be coming back! Blaine is a perfectionist when it comes to hair, and for my mens cut/low fade he nails it every time. My wife's a hair stylist, and her and many other stylists would reccomend Blaine for guys cuts right before their wedding, simply because they knew it would be perfect and look amazing. I was one of those guys who got my hair cut before my wedding, and have been going back to him ever since.

Blaine is very attentive, detailed and kind. He listens when you are describing what you are looking for and then asks questions to really hone in on what will work best . This really helps to have a clear understanding and realistic expectation. I am always very happy with my resulting cut, highlights/color. The plant shop is an added bonus and makes the space feel so welcoming. This place is a hidden gem!

Blaine is a great barber. Always organized and gets me on seat right on schedule. A great haircut in a nice environment...
