I was surprised why I never reviewed this place before. My family used to shop here a lot way before Covid and when they would drive by to Commercial Drive. Now we rarely go to East Vancouver. I came here to see what they have for sale. To my surprise things are no longer as cheap as they used to be in terms of sushi. Nonetheless, prices are still reasonable for the food items. The other items such as candies, dry goods and Japanese seasonings are priced more than many of their competitors like H Mart or T&T. They do have a good amount of Japanese selections and some that you might not find at your local T&T or H Mart supermarket.

Parking is pretty bad here. The parking lot is always full.

Fujiya is a Japanese supermarket with several branches within Vancouver and one in Victoria. They are a great place for picking up ingredients for Japanese home cooking, and also carry a good selection of ready made, prepacked foods for when you don't have the time, energy or desire to eat in a sit down restaurant. They've got rolls, sashimi, bento boxes, onigiri, donburi...etc. For a supermarket, the quality of the food is very good. (Avocado roll is my personal favourite as they are very generous with avocado. I hate it when restaurants skimp on the ingredients!)

We stopped here to get some food that we could take to my mom's place for dinner and bought: Aji Fry Box Bento, Saba Box Bento, Creamy Corn Croquette, Inari Sushi Pack, Takoyaki, California Roll and Spicy Dynamite Roll

I recommend shopping at the location on Clark Drive if you can. It's the biggest one so it's got the best selection!

After so many years of visiting Fujiya they have remained a solid choice for me. I love visiting this location to pick up ready to eat items. Their bento boxes have a terrific variety of options and their sushi is made fresh daily. I picked a wide range of items for only $55! (Pic included)

      All for $55!

Parking can be challenging here though there is a pretty small lot behind it.

Lots of ready to eat Japanese food here. From sushi to bento to the fried stuff and desserts. I found some chocolate truffles (many flavors) which reminded me of Royce nama chocolate but at a lower cost.

The food is cold except for the miso soup and curry. Do not expect the sushi quality to be like in the Japanese restaurants but they will do in a pinch.

This is also the place to get anything Japanese, food and cooking wise. There are way more selections than the regular chain grocery stores.

This authentic Japanese grocer has been around for decades. They offer everything you need from assorted takeout sushi to purchasing ingredients to create your own sushi. Everything is priced reasonably and the sushi is made fresh. Sushi is available even for vegetarians. I had the spicy avocado tempera which was yummy and healthy. They have quite an assortment of fish cakes in their deli section. If you want tasty and quality sushi at great prices this is the place especially if you are having a party.

This is the locals go to place for decades. I usually go to the Clark Drive location but there are other locations such as downtown Vancouver, Richmond, and Victoria. The one on Clark Drive is open 7 days a week from 10:30 am - 6:00 pm. A great stop if you have a hankering for sushi after work. They have a small parking lot but there's usually free parking on Venables.

Food quality went down the drain, garbage sushi rice cooked that has zero moisture and hardly chew. Many people complain on Facebook and event dump to the farm to feed the chicken.

Hadn't been here in a while and just spontaneously decided to come by and get lunch. I got the Fujiya special house roll and it was so delicious. Big chunks of salmon and tuna and the avocado and shrimp balanced the fish well. With a little bit of wasabi and soy sauce it was a perfect lunch.

They have a wide variety of sushi and donburis for a grocery store. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the sashimi as they didn't taste fresh (strong fishy taste). The salmon donburi was good but the slices were very thin and few. We felt like the best deal from what we had gotten was the karaage chicken- it was very tasty and the chicken/rice ratio was more balanced. We also really enjoyed the matcha frozen wafer sandwich for $2.45.

Have been a long time customer at Fujiya, I am finally writing a review for them!! Back in the days when I don't know what to have for lunch at the office, I would go straight to their shop on Bridgeport in Richmond, and if I am lucky there will still be a good selection for you to choose from, particularly good is their Grilled Mackerel or Salmon Bento! But if you see a fire truck parked outside, you almost have to forget it as the Fire Fighters will "clean out" every last box of bento!!

But if you really want a wider range of Japanese Food Products, you will have to come to their Main Store! You will most likely find all the necessary ingredients when you want to make Sukiyaki at home or get some fresh Sashimi grade fish for home made Sashimi, I also love all their prepared pickle or simmered vegetables, they make such a great side dish when you are lazy to make your own!

As you can see from my photo, I bought some Sashimi Grade Tuna ( two different cuts ) to make Shabu Shabu at home, I also added some sliced Pork Loin to make a more scrumptious meal!

The Tuna was divine! After getting it from the store, I would put it in the freezer for at least 30mins. so that it is easier to slice, and then I would make the ponzu sauce for dipping, on a cold wet night this is a perfect healthy and warm meal. Oh, and its fun when you do the cooking together!! All you will need is a glass of ice cold beer!

      Kanpai!!

Homemade Shabu Shabu with Sashimi Grade Tuna from Fujiya!!
