Nice salon, friendly staff and they sell quite the variety of hair products.

I was visiting Victoria from another province and decided to get a haircut. I found this salon based on reviews and I have to say it definitely lived up to the expectation! Everyone was very friendly. The salon was cosy and had parking available. I got a haircut by stylist Gregory and I'm very happy with my look!

The professional services are good, but I have "a stone in my shoe" about their business practices-namely, sneaky extra charges and charging PST for non-taxable services.

After I figured this out and requested details, the owner neither admitted nor refunded, rudely and arrogantly suggesting that the problem was mine, and that I should show my receipt to the government.

I don't know what's not to love about this place. It's a fab salon, a hair product warehouse of sorts AND a cafe staffed with super friendly human beings. If getting a barista-made latte while having your tresses conditioned and your scalp massaged isn't worth at least four stars, I don't know what is. I should add that I'm quite a coffee fiend, and the latte served was right up there with some of the best I've had in "proper" coffee shops. They've got the mean looking espresso machines to prove their point. And the more or less standard leaf designs they do with the milk froth on specialty coffee...while in scalp massage heaven...I had to say that again. I have no idea what's up with the two star reviews.

Here's the deal. Get on their loyalty program, spend $250 on hair products (or it might be on all products and services) and get a free deep conditioning treatment as described above. If that seems like a big amount of money, I'm telling you, it's not. If like me, you use and abuse your hair, you WANT to use salon-grade hair products so you're not left with straw for strands when you're 30. It's not all marketing, there's a reason why salon products are a bit pricier. They use better quality ingredients and higher concentrations of the good stuff to make your hair last through your lifetime.

I've been a customer 7 years running and though I live in Vancouver now, I always come back to the island to stock up on hair products. You'll find their prices reasonable and their products come in larger sizes than your usual salon sized products. The staff are super knowledgeable and will walk you through your hair needs IF you need them to. In my experience, they've never followed me around with eagle eyes silently pressuring me to "buy". In my world, when you just want to browse, simply tell the salesperson that and they will leave you alone (exceptions are made for homeless bums milling around Johnson in which case, they will follow you around the store to make sure you do not steal!).

I left there yesterday with the most touchable hair ever and a wicked blow dry. I swear I went in with horse hair and came out with human hair again. I can't imagine how good their other salon services would be!

Recently had a haircut done by their short hair specialist. Worst hair cut ever!!! called to talk about this with manager, never received a call back. Sent pics for them to look at......was being called "sir" by people in lineup at grocery store :( very unfeminine, shaved back of head and around ears...OMG what was he thinking....the other stylists kept walking by and looking while he was cutting but I did not realize how bad it was until I got home. Went to new stylist who said possibly the worst cut she has seen in 25 years...will take months to grow out before anything is even fixable.

Picked this place because of the location. After having cheap/do it your self haircuts for the past few years, I am so happy with my cut and style. I'll be back!

Amazing stylists and fantastic owners! Always feel welcome at Gemi. Their selection of products is the best in Victoria. And their stylists are exceptional, especially Josh and Marianne!

This is just a really great place. I get a fantastic precision cut, a latte made to my specifications and just a really warm, genuinely friendly environment with great customer service!

What is completely missing is all the brittle, bitchy, snobbery I've experienced at some salons that are so focused on selling you the line of products that they use that it doesn't really matter what you want/need. When I've wanted a product, I've rec'd excellent and knowledgeable advice and been introduced to some great products.

I adore that the staff is relaxed and seem to actually like eachother and I think it is great that there is a core group of staff that has been there for a long time - that speaks volumes.

So hats off to you guys for excellent work and for creating such a welcoming environment in which to be pampered!

Thanks Bobbi-Jo for a great colour and cut!First visit with this stylist and she gave me the best highlights I've ever had.The complimentary latte was a treat on a cold rainy day and the free samples are pretty awesome too.This is a great salon and their product prices are some of the best in town.
