Don't use this shop for larger projects. There's a good chance they won't reassemble your car properly. My car wouldn't even start when I came to pick it up. They took no responsibility saying these things just happen and it's not their fault. Now it will cost me $2k to fix their shoddy work.

BTW, these guys incorrectly installed the speed sensor. It got chewed up by the transmission, then shorted out the main computer. Now I've got metal in the transmission, the gift that keeps on giving.

This place saved me and my Chevy Malibu LT over the summer. They made magic happen when no other shop even blinked in our direction. They charged a fair price for the service the car needed and they gave a run down of what it needed afterwards.

Thank you for taking the time to service us. Because of the work you did my husband was able to see his brother before he left (and he'll be gone for over a year).

I received excellent advice from Steve regarding the repair/replacement of my automatic transmission in my 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback. Steve was very objective and fair with his assessment of my transmission failure. I highly recommend his garage for all transmission repairs.

Transmission was slipping. Steve said bring it in. When I did, he identified the leak, told me to leave it overnight. Within a few hours he called me back, told me it was fixed. The cost was barely above the base diagnostic. Transmission back to running smooth. This was my first time here. Steve respected my time, was honest, didn't price gouge. Rare customer service mindset. Couldn't be more satisfied.

Beware** stay away from this shop.
Steve the long time manager seems trustworthy, only my experience after leaving my car for fluid change was horrible. He test drove my car twice on the freeway, called to ask if I still wanted the transmission serviced, I approved the work to be completed which would cost $500. Friday he called around noon, and began shooting the breeze before explaining what happened to my car. He not closed my hood all the way before taking it on the the third test drive, after I had already approved the work to be done. Upon accelerating onto the freeway, the hood flew up hit the windshield wipers, along with the windshield which smashed & cracked it badly. He informed me that he was swerving as he couldn't see with the hood up, and the entire ordeal scared him so much. Steve then told me he took my car to a body shop, and had a $1400 estimate for repair. At this time he informed me that the body shop pointed out that the inside secondary hood latches had been removed. I knew this was shady having owned the car for eight year's, and also had opened the hood to check all the fluids before dropping the car off to Steve @ GT transmissions. His solution was for me to call my insurance and put in a claim that I was driving the car when this happened. He proceeded to tell me that he would give me my deductible amount, and go ahead and complete the transmission service for my trouble. He did not want to use the shop insurance, saying they would deny the claim cause the latches were missing. Monday morning I went to see the car, there was alot of damage. When he raised the hood which was hard to open, he pointed out where the latches were missing. You could see the fresh imprint of were the latches had been, he removed them to try & justify his mistake (shady). I filed a claim with my insurance, and they are going after the shop for nearly $3,600 worth of damage to my Lexus. I have been without my car for a total of 35 day's, behind Steve's (shop manager) blunder.
      You have been warned, Beware****

Recently my 5 year old car had a transmission issue. It was towed to General Transmission where Steve checked it out with the news that it needed a complete transmission replacement or repair. This was not good news! Steve was so helpful in making a decision as to keeping the car and making the repairs or selling it. In the end, I made the decision to have Steve replace the transmission. I can't say enough about how supportive and caring Steve and staff were in dealing with my questions and concerns. I found that you can definitely count on a great job, timely repair, and while an expensive repair, a fair competitive market price. Thanks again Steve for your calm and caring personality. Car is running great!

My twenty four year old 317K mile transmission finally needed some TLC. I called around and had limited success. Between Covid making parts difficult to source, raising prices, and general reluctance to touch something that old, most shops didn't want to even touch it.

I did find a couple of shops willing to do the work, and after talking to Steve I immediately knew General Transmission was the place to go.

Steve was straight forward and up front about the repair. He quoted me a price and did the work for the quoted price. We all know how something that old can often surprise you with unexpected challenges, but not in this case. The quoted price was what I paid.

Steve kept me updated on the progress and the car was ready on the day he had originally stated.

While under the car Steve did find a couple of supports that were broken and offered to replace them for the cost of the parts ($50.00) and true to his word made it happen.

I've only had the car for 60 miles of travel, but the transmission is shifting smoothly and I expect to get another couple hundred thousand miles out of it, before finally letting go of the car. 500K or bust!

I ran over a curb and could see it caused a fluid leak, but no transmission shops were open during the weekend. By Monday morning the car would not move. I read reviews, and decided that I could trust General Transmissions. When I phoned them and described the problem, they asked if I had a towing service. Had the car towed to GT. It took a day for them to get to it, and then another day to get the manufacturer's part, but they kept in touch with me and kept me informed. The price came in as estimated and I am back in service. Good job! Thank you.

Steve rebuilt my daughter's 2006 Acura trans. The bad news is I had to bring the car back to him three times. The good news is that Steve admitted that they made a mistake in the rebuild job and he took it out and did the job again. The second problem was a faulty motor mount which was not their fault. All in all I suspect that they lost money on this job but they apologized and corrected everything to my satisfaction without complaint. I would use him again and refer him to others without reservation.

I wish I could give more then a 5-star review! I found this business on Yelp because I was shopping for a place to do a transmission swap on a Lexus RX330. The tranny went bad, and the dealership wanted like 6 grand to do the work. That was more then the value of the car, so I decided to pick up a used transmission and find a shop to put it in.

However... most transmission centers were not to keen in doing this. Steve however, was open to doing the job. He even recommended that I get the transmission from the dismantlement he had good experiences with, and We agreed on a price for the labor... a price he stuck to and did not change once I followed through on my end.

Fortunately his referral paid off, and the used auto part house he recommended had the right on in stock - with a warranty - for the same prices I was ready to pay on ebay. I called Steve to let him know I was ready and pulling the trigger, and he said he's all good to go as soon as I get everything to him. So I placed my order and the transmission was literal deliver that next day - free of any freight fees. I was ecstatic!

That next friday, the wife and I doped off the Lexus and the used tranny off with Steve. Nice guy, great scene of humor, and a very clean and organized shop! I almost thought he was kidding me when he said "OK, now just pay me up front, and I'll get it all done!" But he wasn't. I was a bit uncomfortable about that ... cause normal when you pay any contractor or mechanic in advance... they tend to forget about you once they got your money. So I was figuring their was going to be a few weeks till I heard anything.

I was shocked when Steve called me the following Wednesday morning to let me know the car was done, the operation went without any problems, the new transmission is great, and its ready to be picked up!

Now that I had a chance to put some miles on the car... I can say Thanks Steve... Job Well Done! You saved me a fortune, and I sincerely appreciate your honesty, integrity, and commitment to your word. I highly recommend anyone needing transmission work to do business with this shop... and support fair and honest hard working people that keep their word.
