Golden Bay Preschool

The best review I can give any childcare provider is by sending my children to them. The teachers and folks running this amazing preschool have my trust 100%. I started with them years ago at their smaller home preschool location. They cared for and taught my oldest daughter for 3 years until she transitioned to kindergarten.
My oldest daughter was cared for with love, gentle kindness, taught manners, academics and practiced social skills in a safe and caring space. She entered kindergarten fully prepared to handle the challenges of school. On top of all that - she learned Mandarin! Songs, numbers, words - the basics. I don't need my daughter to be fluent, but I know that kids brains are able to learn so much at a young age that benefits and helps them as they grow. Learning a second language will undoubtedly help my kids as they progress through school.

Now, they are caring for my second daughter and I know that she will also be cared for with all the same loving, gentle, thoughtful attention they gave my oldest. The folks who work at this school are truly a special group of caregivers and educators. They are up to date with COVID safety protocols, they sanitize everything, they have adequate space indoors and outdoors to provide distancing - limiting the risks wherever possible.

My kids learn something new EVERY DAY.
They come home happy, full of excitement to tell me about what they learned, sang, played, shared with the other children & teachers. The little one naps every day (!), and most importantly, when I ask them about their days, they resoundingly tell me their days were "GREAT!".
That's the best review any parent can get - healthy, happy, well-adjusted kids.
If you are considering Golden Bay Preschool for your child, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Golden Bay has been a great experience for our daughter! We enrolled her because my daughter's birthday was too late in the year to qualify for TK in elementary school. We heard they offered a similar program and are very happy with the choice! Golden Bay checks every box for learning and playing. My daughter made incredible friendships there and we are so happy that Mrs. Yanyi is a great educator and great with the kids. Don't hesitate to enroll.

This review is long overdue. My daughter has been with Golden Bay preschool for over 2 years, starting at 2 years old. I'm always impressed by the organization and communication from teachers and staff. Their hours are very accomodating for working parents. The school is very clean, I appreciate the no shoes inside model. Most importantly, my daughter talks highly about her school and misses it on breaks and weekends. She has blossomed in confidence and communication skills since attending. I'm looking forward for my second child to be of age to attend this preschool!

After our 1st tour with them we noticed that our daughter was excited and engaged by the campus. So we enrolled her the next few weeks after and not it's been almost a year now. We love the fact that they're very flexible with our schedules and takes great care of our daughter. Thank Golden bay teachers!

From the first day our son attended Golden Bay to his graduation and final day at Golden Bay, we have nothing but positive memories to share. The faculty and teachers have been second to none. They have been on top of every situation, especially in the midst of Covid. Whenever any concern arose from the facility or from the school community, they responded professionally and immediately to address and resolve any and all concerns. We could not be happier. Our son would come home every day with a positive attitude, fun stories from the day, and always shared his love for his teachers, especially Teacher Laura.

Teacher Laura is a wonderful educator for young minds. Showing care and attention while finding ways to keep our son engaged in subjects and taking every moment to teach right from wrong. Every day when we picked him up she would provide us with a synopsis of the day, letting us know about each day, it was wonderful to have this every day to ensure our sons school and us were on the same page. And she did this for every student! Teacher Laura truly is a testament to her profession!

We highly recommend Goldenbay as a place to jumpstart your child's journey into life. This tiny step turns into a big leap in preparing for what is to come.

This school has the best teachers who are all caring & loving individuals. My oldest child has been under their care for 4 years & my youngest 2 years. They both love their teachers & always excited to go to school. My oldest will start Kindergarten this Fall & her reluctance to leave Golden Bay is a testament to how much fun she's having & how safe she feels. The little one is very much attached to Ms. Susan & would only hold her hand :)

The school takes Covid seriously & ensures safety of all the children by ensuring a clean & safe environment both indoor & outdoor. Indoors are shoe-free, masked & frequently cleaned. The school has a large play yard with multiple play structures for kids to expend their energy.

GB recently started using an app (Procare), which makes it easy to communicate with teachers, see photos of my kids & quick check in/out. It looks like very soon we may be able to pay via app!

Our family has been so lucky to have found Golden Bay!

After one year+, we cannot be happier with our decision of joining the school. There's great communication with the teachers. They follow CDC protocols to the letter and they are great at providing a safe, clean and a rich environment for the kids. They have strict indoor and outdoor policies (masks all the time).

The school has a huge play yard space with diverse play structures and push bikes and wagons. In the pictures I can see the cleanliness, the beautifully curated indoor space (they send pictures of my kid very often). I can tell how their space enhances good values, discipline on the kids, and at the same time promotes creativity and comfort in the little ones.

My daughter loves her teachers and speak only great things of each one of them. At pick up and drop off, I get to see how they care of the children, they talk to us (the parents) and make sure to give us a little summary of the day, sharing even achievements from time to time.

And if the face to face communication is not enough, they use an app which also makes drop off and pick up very efficient. In the app they share more updates on the kids and the school. Share pictures and you can even have almost instant communication with the school.

My little one really enjoys going every day; she has made good friends, she has learned some mandarin, and practices her Spanish! She has learned so much about space, the ocean, historical figures, and key historic events; she does not stop to impress me with how much she learns on a daily basis!

When I pick her up, she's ALWAYS happy and jumping and smiling and that gives me peace! We can only thank the teachers for all they do.

I sent my 4 year old daughter to Golden Bay for the summer and it was everything we hoped for.

The teachers, particularly the middle aged ladies, were all super attentive and thoughtful. They remembered all kinds of details about my daughter and even her sister, and were very caring and kind.

The school is very organized in schedule, and the kids do writing (mostly English, but some Chinese characters too! Usually spoken in Mandarin, as far as I can tell.) They do a lot of playtime outside, which is great.

There's no app or anything high tech, but the teachers are very sweet and will send photos and videos over SMS. (I never had the heart to tell them the iPhone videos they sent me are mangled on my Android phone, though.)

During COVID it's all masks for the kids and staff.

Overall, feel very lucky I found this little school/daycare and hopefully my daughter can come back next summer.

I felt very fortunate to have found this preschool system when I was pregnant with my second child and had to look for a daycare for my firstborn about 3 years ago. So, this review might seem a little overdue but it's a result of many long and careful observations.

My husband and I actually toured a few preschools in the area where we live and even made deposit with one of them to hold the spot for my first child when I was pregnant with him (yeah, it's that competitive in Alameda!). However, my son has been so happy at where he is that we don't want to move him to the place that held our deposit. When his sister came along, I made the decision to send her to the same place with her brother without thinking twice about it because I know she will be very well taken care of. Luckily, there was spot available at this preschool so she could join her brother.

The first time I met the teachers at Golden Bay Preschool's brother & sister preschools (i.e. Ottis Preschool & Bay Farm Preschool), I received a very warm welcome that invited me to tour her "family feel" preschool. That "family feel" has never changed ever since, even after the school is relocated to a much larger facility. She is always happy, empathetic, real, and transparent which I think it could be because she is also a parent herself. What impresses me the most is that all the teachers there (e.g. Ms. Susan, Ms. Zoey, Ms. Yanyi) also models those qualities. If we have ever had a concern about our kids (potty training, bottle weaning, tantrums, etc)... they are all there to assist, work with us and ultimately foster love, patience, knowledge and kindness in our kids. The teachers have the hearts of genuine caregiver and educator.

They have curricula that interest and engage the kids on daily basis. Before the pandemic, healthy breakfasts and lunches were provided each day, along with snacks in between. They have a nice playground that the kids love playing on when it is nice outside and large classrooms to enjoy indoor activities in when it rains or it is too cold to be outside. Along with the day-to-day activities, they are always doing special things around the holidays for the kids (Halloween pumpkin decoration, Easter egg hunt, Valentine's, etc).

I honestly could go on and on about all the ways Golden Bay Preschool is a phenomenal place for kids to be but most importantly, I never have any doubts as to what type of care my children are getting. I know in my absence they are being loved, nurtured, comforted and allowed to grow, learn and explore in a warm and caring environment.... every day.
