A great park for children in the corner of the huge Golden Gate Park area. There is plenty to do with slides, swings, and carousel. There is even a fun slide area so be sure to bring your own cardboard to ride down! There may be leftover laying around in case you don't have one.
There is plenty of parking around the park area.
Seems like there may be occasional school field trips here which can get the park crowded.
There is a nice big grass area where owners play with their dogs. I saw plenty of people having picnics or eating lunch nearby from their take-out.
      Amazing park in the city!

CRAZY FACT: This was the first playground in the United States.

The Golden Gate Park Children's Playground sits close to the Inner Sunset side of Golden Gate Park. Its a well equipped playground with lots of things for children to jump, swing, and hop around. The equipment is fairly new (maybe last 10 years).

One of the best things about this playground is the soft rubberized surface. Its bouncy and soft, so its safe if your kid takes a tumble.

Parking can be tricky. There is often a space on the busy street running along the southside of the park. If not, you should try to go residential in the Inner Sunset and walk over to the park.

It is relatively safe, even at night.

I went back to this place to see how it's changed over the years. It's definitely different from back in the 80's but the one thing that hasn't changed is the cement slides. I definitely remember them being a little higher but perhaps I was just really small. HA.

In most areas of the playground are rubberized bouncy mats...definitely didn't have those when I was growing up!

The carousel is still there but I don't know if it's running. Perhaps it does on certain days and times. Glad that they didn't tear it down.

A fairly large playground, there is lots of different equipment here to entertain your little one. There is also a carousel and food kiosk located onsite - you can purchase a ticket to take a ride for only $2. There are also restrooms located nearby.

For me personally though, this playground is too congested for my tastes. Mainly from a sanitary standpoint but also from just a pure number of people standpoint, there were just too many kiddos running around. It's definitely a breeding ground for colds and other viruses.

I have such fond memories of playing with my friends' kids at this playground. It's such an incredible resource for the Bay Area community. They have a diverse selection of play areas - for both young children and older children and you can't beat Golden Gate park on a sunny day.

From the stunning legendary carousel (which unfortunately is currently closed during this time), to their sand pits, to their swings, to their slides, to their netted pyramid area, their lush picnic areas, and their numerous convenient bathrooms - this playground is a true San Francisco treasure.

If you have a young family and are visiting and/or live in the Bay Area - I highly recommend making the trip to Golden Gate Park and enjoying this beautifully maintained play area. With California Academy of Sciences nearby and all of the majestic lushness of Golden Gate park - it's a true treat.

      Trust.

This is my kiddo's favorite park in SF. She especially loves the slides! She never forget to bring a cardboard for it!

Well Finally got around to review this Park in San Francisco and I have to say this Park is huge and I say you have to have at least a week or two to walk the whole park !! It is beautiful and There is plenty to see here and take pictures !! It is kind of hard to find but I found it !!! Also there are plenty of things to do with the Kiddos also a good park to walk around and jog but I just did not have enough time to walk the whole park !! As for parking the Parking is kid of weird and you kind of have to park on the side street but you might have to drive around though !! We were lucky and the meters were off and it was free !! Now I say this is an attraction you must put on your bucket list !! Lots of good areas to take pictures !!

Satisfaction: Good Park : 5 out of 5 Stars

Visiting this park with my nieces, it is cute little playground that is well kept and not too busy, some really cool slides, and of course the famous carousel. Have some great memories of the carousel and so glad it has been kept up and maintained for future generations. The only drawback is that it is usually foggy/chilly, so its tough to catch a sunny day on a planned outing. Still, this place is a must do and very San Francisco!
