      First to Review

After looking all over the Lower Mainland for a rug, I was disappointed. Most places have mass produced rugs made from synthetic materials - polypropylene, polyester, etc. The wool rugs I did find were insanely priced and u-g-l-y.

Then I found Golden Rug's website. Their inventory is gigantic. Make sure you view them on the website first to get an idea of what you like because they have so much more in storage. I went in twice to look for a rug for my home. I am so glad I did. The pieces in this store are art. You will appreciate them over time and they will probably become heirlooms.

The atmosphere is like walking into an Middle Eastern marketplace, but much more intimate because there are no crowds. I got the opportunity to talk to Laiq, a wonderful and kind gentleman. He brought out some rugs that I saw on the website the next day. Laiq educated me on rug types and materials. I really got to appreciate the amount of work that went into each rug. Each rug is made by hand and imported from various countries such as Iran, India and Afghanistan. You can really get some masterpieces here. A vegetable dyed and densely hand-knotted rug was way out of my league. What I ended up with was a beautiful 8x10ft Indian hand knotted and chrome dyed floral rug made from wool. A one of a kind piece.

If you don't want to settle for the machine-made, mass-produced, glued down, fossil fuel fiber rugs sold at your mega chain stores, I highly suggest you take a journey here. You'll pay more, but it's something you will appreciate and enjoy for a lifetime.

      Suggestions for store:

      - Put the prices on all the items on the website.

Buying a rug at Golden Rug from Ali was one of our most pleasant shopping experiences. Ali was friendly, patient and knowledgeable, and allowed us lots of time to make our decision about a rug, and at the same time, we learned a lot about the process of rug-making. In fact, we found ourselves wishing that we had known Ali when we purchased our first Persian rug. As might be expected, we were completely satisfied with our purchase. We would certainly highly recommend Ali and Golden Rug to any one interested in purchasing a high Quality rug.

In need to replace a ruined carpet , We tried to find the same class of Tribal rug with very specific coloring.
Golden Rug has an excellent webpage featuring very good photographs of all rugs in stock, with measurements and prices.
We found one that looked good, I e mailed Ali who send me a prompt reply.
we visited , viewed and bought.
Laiq who helped us was gracious and patient.
Could not believe how easy it was .
I highly recommend dealing with Golden Rug when in need of a carpet

Golden Rug is an absolute amazing place to buy a carpet. The selection is beyond compare and Laiq's knowledge about every single carpet in the store is simply outstanding.
When you leave the store, you feel absolutely confident that you got the best value you could possibly find not only in price but also in quality.
Laiq's passion about the carpets he sells is obvious as he claims " to be sorrounded by exquisite pieces of art".
See for yourself; you will not regret it!

Recently went shopping for a quality hand knotted wool rug and chose Golden Rug in Dunbar neighbourhood. Ali has a great location on the corner of Dunbar and 16th Ave, an easy 5 minute drive from Kitsilano with tons of free street parking. It's certainly worth your while to drive and extra 5 minutes to this quieter Westside commercial area, due to the better pricing for similar or superior products I noted here vs. other rug dealers. Huge selection of quality rugs, including a clearance room with lots of interesting stock. They also have their own line of vegetable dyed classic oriental carpets (they commission the weavers overseas and supply them with the dyed wool) , and I noted all of their product was quality wools (smooth, lustrous piles, scratch these carpets and no wool fiber on your fingers), far superior to other oriental rug dealers in this regards. The friendlly, personable service is top notch too, I can't think of a more personable, friendly and efficient place in the oriental rug retail industry.
