Great location for a gym, right downtown! Would love to see more spread out throughout the island though! Very spacious and organized. Everything was very clean and similar to other goodlife gyms I have been to, which I liked! The staff seemed friendly and willing to help anyone!

Exactly the kind of gym I love. A perfect blend of old school equipment and vibe with enough modern cardio equipment to satisfy everyone. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

I bought a week pass while I was visiting the area made it a good value.

Too small, trainers steal gym equipment. When person is on water break. Don't recommend.

I wanted to join a gym and I signed up online to talk to someone from Good Life Fitness for a free assessment.

The assessment was short, the sales pitch felt long and I felt very pressured. They wanted me to sign a long term contract and they questioned if my husband was supporting my fitness goals when I stated my husband and I make financial decisions together (especially when they want to charge me 800.00 a month to train there).

The next week my husband was in the hospital and even though I explained that I couldn't make any decisions about training there I continued to receive several more phon calls enquiring if I was ready to sign a contract. I ignored these messages.

Two months later I began to work out with a personal trainer who is way more affordable and flexible, offering month to month contracts. I feel no pressure and am developing a love of working out.

I was impressed with the facility and there were lots of machines available but beware the sales tactics.

Like Danna M. said, the place is very new and clean.

This place is always deserted whenever I show up from 6 p.m. -- I do miss the friends I met at the YMCA which stayed busy all the way until close.

Among the extensive free weights and state-of-the-art circuit machines, there is a cycling room, room for classes, as well as a dedicated cardio area with plenty of machines.

My coworkers seem to enjoy the classes offered, and I appreciate the tier structure they have for membership -- you only pay for what you want (towel service, classes, multi-gym membership, single-gym membership, etc.). So although I'm paying twice the amount I was at the Y, at least I'm getting a 24-hr (weekdays) gym with towel service!

      My observations:

-memberships: they have several packages to put you on and will try to sell you the "premium" one, which includes towel service, tanning, etc. The cheapest membership includes use at the one location. It sucks that they don't allow you to choose what services you want, or to offer more competitive memberships if you request it. I've been going there for three years+ at the premium rate and one would think that would get you something. Nope. Also, they also make you give your bank account information and charge you bi-weekly to get a membership, which is a piss off for people like me who would rather pay for the year up front at a discounted rate.

-music/tvs: okay, I get that this is a franchise and they have branding to sell, but why the hell do they have to play TVs with Goodlife commercials every few minutes. You've already got our money! There's four TVs in the weight area and all of them play the same crap all day. Canucks stanley cup finals could be on and you're still forced to watch their stupid commercials.

-machines: this one has a separate circuit training section, which seems to get little use, other than by newbies. They should get rid of it and put in more freeweights.

-location: this is the best gym for location. It takes up a third of the top floor of the mall, and the rear of the gym is next to the food fair. Specifically, the greek food Opa! place. How do I know this? If you work out in the corner of the gym, near the fire escape, you can smell the food wafting in through the door. It will drive you nuts and make you want to eat pita bread and tzatziki - pack on the calories you just burned. Tip: take the elevator downstairs so you won't be tempted to go there after your workout.

-trainers: All of them seem like good people, but there are times where there are so many trainers they get in your way. I know people pay huge money for the training, but I think they need to have a quota of no more than 1-2 in there at a time. I'm not going to comment on some of the routines they put people through other than to say that's a hell of a lot of money to pay to have someone just tell you to do a set of burpees.

-members: even though this is a globo gym, members are pretty chill for the most part. No White Goodmans here. Mostly people who work downtown and want to workout before or after work, or on their lunches. It's rare to see any serious body builders or juice heads here. This is partly due to the location and cost to park downtown. Not great if you are a roid monster working at Uptown Minute Lube. Also, the dumbells only go to 100lbs. Not a lot of tarted-up girls go there either, which is a good thing. But there are a few chach guys and tarts there 5-6 weekdays, which is the peak time.

So yeah, it's a great gym!

No one helps you here as a new member. No one comes to you and helps you with the equipments. They just want you to join their classes that's about it.

I was in town for a few days, and saw they had the 3 day Trial , so I went in.After a brief sign in, I had a workout. The place was quite busy. Alot of regulars here. Lots of equipment. Located right in the Mall in downtown Victoria. Recommend this place if you are located close.

This gym is ok if you just want to sign a membership agreement and never worry about it. What attracted me to them was their flexibility with when I am out of the country for business. Each time I leave, they find some trick to charge me an extra 2 weeks even when I give 7-10 days notice that I am leaving. This happened to me each time. Instead of cultivating good customer service and a desire to be a long-term member given my travelling lifestyle, they always use technicalities to squeeze a few extra bucks from me. It makes no long-term sense, but that's how they do it at least at this location. I would seriously consider going elsewhere, or hiring an even more expensive lawyer to ensure they don't take your pre-authorized payments a bit too far.

Beware of the contracts. They don't give you all the information. There is a inital sign up cost and the contracts automatically roll over and keep billing you. Very expensive/
