Dave helped us throughout a 6 month remodel. We tore the downstairs of our townhome mostly down to studs and reorganized the kitchen and bathroom. There was a lot of electrical to reroute and upgrade.
His advice and his work were invaluable throughout the process, since we were unable to get a contractor and so had to get the plans through city approval on our own. We were so happy to have him.
He rewired the kitchen, bathroom, dining and living rooms. Although we mostly went with his excellent advice, there were a few times when we decided to do something different. He was a great sounding board in those cases, and went along with what we wanted.
I have since recommended him to friends and colleagues.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Patrick P.Stratford, CT1236Jan 5, 2022
I called around trying to find a reputable, qualified electrician for 6 hours and did not receive a callback. Angi.com quoted me 329$ for a switch repair that i was expected to provide materials for, needless to say i was not happy. Then i called Greene Electric and through text, pictures and one phone call Ethan Greene assured me he could repair our problem.
BTW, He arrived 5 minutes early and fixed our problem in 20 minutes for 1/3 the cost quoted by online sources and was personable, kind and clearly very qualified.
I highly recommend Greene Electric

At 4pm the day before a holiday weekend our furnace stopped working because of an electrical problem with the thermostat. And might I add the next two nights are forecast to be the coldest nights of this winter season so far, and the days hardly warmer. I called Dave and he picked up straight away. He gave me two simple things to try on my own first. They weren't the problem however. Dave was already on another job scheduled to 7pm but made it a point to stop by my place on his way home to look at the problem. He is extremely knowledgeable and explained everything he was doing and the reason for it. He was able to diagnose the problem and fix it with parts he had in his truck. We are in the process of finalizing a small remodel and he happened to notice a few things that we could easily and cheaply do to make some things work or look even better - right down to model numbers and who to ask for at a local supply store. We are so grateful for his flexibility, expertise, and guidance. We will not hesitate to call him the next time we need an electrician.

I had Dave install my 240 volt electric vehicle charger I purchased from a relative in the garage. Dave's quote was on par with the other electricians I spoke with and a bit lower. In fact most of the electricians I spoke with had such comparable quotes I feel electricians are much more honest then plumbers. With plumbers holly molly the spread of the quotes was insane.
He did a great job, ran a larger wire installed a new service breaker at the box. Mounted the unit and 240v plug. Turned out great and the price was totally fair. I will call him again soon to do a ceiling fan for me soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - San S.San Pablo, CA34336Sep 14, 2017
I called David to look at a broken hallway light plus do a thorough electrical inspection and got an answering machine. I left my number and a request for service. He called back later and told me he was currently on vacation and that he would call me the following week to schedule a time to do the work. The following week went and passed, no call back, so I called him back and managed to have him come by that evening, sweet!
Later that evening, he came by looked at the broken light and told us that we needed new fixtures. He had one on hand but we had another hallway light, that still works but should be replaced since it was incandescent and will inevitably burn out just the same. So he suggest we replace both. We agreed, however, he only had one fixture and advised us to run to Costco and buy our own fixtures to save money. He told us once we have it, to call him back and schedule a time to have him instal them. He put in a temporary bulb in the broken hallway one so we have light until we can get the fixtures.
We ran straight to Costco that evening and bought both fixtures. It was late, so I decided to call him the next day. The next day, I called him, and he said he will be over sometime in the afternoon, and that he'd call me back later with a time. Got no call... The next morning, I call him back and got a machine. Left a message. No call back... So that evening, I just opened up the fixtures, read the manual, and installed it myself.
Yet to call me back, we haven't even paid him for his visit, and still have the temp bulb. Two stars for at least showing up the first time and looking at the issue, but no more because, wow, can't get a hold of this guy and ended up fixing the problem myself.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Zach L.Pinole, CA01Jun 2, 2018
Original review:
Didn't show up for the three rescheduled appointments. Can't vouch for his work but can vouch for his punctuality. Made a comment that he had written the appointment down in his appointment book but still didn't show up. Probably does do good work if he showed up to his agreed appointment times.
Edit (8/21/2018):
Dave ended up calling me back the next day following the original review, admitted and apologized to missing our three previously scheduled appointments, and quickly re-scheduled a follow-up meeting in person to take a look at the work. I greatly appreciated the honesty.
He seemed incredibly knowledgeable regarding the scope of the work we were asking for (upgrading our sub-panel in the garage to improve reliability as well as some small upgrades outside the home my wife and I had been talking about for awhile) without trying to oversell, a great balance between the getting the right amount of work done at a sensible price. I could tell right away Dave understood the details associated with the work required, (this size of wire, that type of outlet sort of thing) and was genuinely trying to explain the detail without getting to deep in the weeds.
On top of this, we had requested a permit for the work to ensure the upgrades we done to our local building code. We had contractors in the past we had talked to that balked at the idea. They would say, "You don't need a permit", or "That will just add more cost to your project, don't get the city involved", or, even better, "Most of our customers don't ask for permits. In the off chance they do, we ask that they pull it themselves!". Dave, on the other hand, didn't hesitate to mention he could get the permit for the work, although there would be a small fee for the permit cost from the city plus the cost of having him come back to the house to be present for the work inspection.
Permit/Inspection costs and all, Dave came in EASILY less than the half what other contractors quoted, and none of those would quote the work when we asked for a permit on top. On top of that, Dave was able to schedule us in for the work within our schedule (perfect timing) to start the work a couple weeks after we had finalized the details. He and his assistant Ed showed up on time, worked diligently and neatly, and finished the work without dragging things out. The inspection went perfectly smoothly, and now we feel much more confident in the quality of the electrical work in our home.
After a slightly rocky start, I definitely recommend Dave Greene, I'll be using him for future work!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Janice T.Hercules, CA2306294397Aug 16, 2017
We called Dave to have our front porch light checked. He was able to see us the following day. He arrived at the appointed time. He fixed our problem in less than half an hour. Two thumbs up! And our bulldog gives him two paws up for playing with him :).

We have absolutely no qualms recommending Dave Greene for your household electrical needs. He is a straight-forward, no-nonsense guy who knows his stuff and gives quality service. He removed two old bathroom vanity lights and installed two new fixtures I purchased online.
One fixture had various parts and was too complicated for us to assemble. Dave pulled it all together and installed it perfectly. Also, he advised us about using more energy efficient bulbs. Check around, his rates are fair and very competitive. Hint: He is a busy guy, and I found he responds best to phone calls rather than email.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Samir A.Hercules, CA122Apr 16, 2018
45 minutes to change a motion sensor light in the porch which still did not work. Rates are 100 bucks an hour. Do the math.
