Guy was amazing in selling the house that had been in our family for generations. Not only did he get a price beyond what I imagined was possible in a challenging market, he made a difficult process easy. I spoke to several agents and chose him due to his knowledge, track record of sales in the area and his great communication skills. Guy took a lot of time to make sure I understood everything as a first-time seller and everything he told me was spot on. Also, the house required a lot of cleanup and prep that I couldn't have handled on my own and he did it efficiently and with an eye to costs, reporting progress throughout the transformation. I was touched by his thoughtfulness as he found a new home for a lot of things in the house (he even set things aside that he thought we might want to save) and the kindness he showed to my uncle who grew up in the house and would periodically check in. We just closed in May of 2022 on the sale of a Bay Farm Island townhome that Guy Blume originally helped us purchase back in 2014.

First a recap on the 2014 purchase, which took place in a very different real estate environment. We outlined our parameters and were transparent about financials--Guy reciprocated with fact and experience-based expectation setting to ensure an efficient process for us, him, and any sellers. Guy even helped to negotiate the final price down when he felt we were overpaying (these were the days when "down" meant a few thousand dollars).

Advance to 2022. The townhome had undergone some improvements, and was capable of a sale up to $1.4MM. Our objective was to list within three weeks of Guy touring the property. To complicate things, we needed to continue living in the home during while it was listed. He worked with his team to develop a strategy for partial move-out, staging, cleaning, inspections, a gas value earthquake shutoff install requirement, marketing, initial pricing, and when the time came, offer negotiation.

The home looked amazing during the photoshoot and showings--way better than anything we could have come up with on our own. I also doubt those 1% listing firms can provide such attention to detail.

From day one of "we want to sell" to the confirmation that closing is complete, Guy maintained excellent two-way communication with us. We never felt uninformed or uncomfortable. We trusted the experience of him and his team to read the changing market. Public record will show that we closed at $1.25MM. We are 100% satisfied with this figure. It could have been $1.35...but it also could have been $1.025MM--you can't control the unpredictable buyer pool out there, nor can you control every component of a home sale (or purchase). We were fortunate to have a rational buyer with a well-organized agent. Nonetheless, you CAN avoid unnecessary heartburn by going with the Guy Blume Group from the start.

It was such a pleasure to work with Jon and Guy when purchasing our first home.  We were in a more complex situation when purchasing our home, so we reached out to them early.  They level-set expectations for us in terms of how the Alameda real estate market was behaving during the pandemic.  The biggest thing that sold us was the following statement from Guy, "If we have to, we'll go door to door to help you move into your new home."  Once we heard that, we knew we were working with the right group.

Jon was with us every step of the way.  When we saw properties that caught our attention, we asked Jon about them, and he would quickly get back to us.  For the home we purchased, there was no open house, but Jon was able to meet up with us to view the home to get a feel for it.  Once we decided to bid, Jon guided us through the entire process. He also tapped into Guy's knowledge and experience to give us a solid chance.  It was scary how they predicted the process would play out, and in the end, we were successful!  We are truly grateful and appreciative for all they did for us!

Guy understands Alameda real estate. He understood the development we lived in. He knew the layout of the home and understood the value of our home relative the neighborhood and other Alameda homes. He had a plan to get us on the MLS the evening we met to discuss our property with him. He had a pricing plan to ensure us top dollar for the sale of our property. Guy operated with maestro-like efficiency completing multiple tasks - photography, inspections, ordering documents all simultaneously. What this meant for us was speed to market and the least amount of time on market in order to allow us to move forward with our other plans.

I want to make a point about Guy's integrity. He was very clear and consistent in explaining the sales process to us. When we had questions from the agent of the home we wanted to buy, Guy said he would get on the phone and just tell them the truth, which he did, allaying any concerns they had. Whenever we spoke with Guy we felt complete confidence that we were being provided an accurate and fair depiction of events. You may find someone just as honest as Guy, but you won't find anyone more honest.

Lastly, we want to comment on Guy's client service which was simply second to none. The communication was clear and concise. Everything which Guy promised was delivered. Our timeline was extremely constricted and Guy stated when he met us that he could meet the timeline and he delivered. As with everything in the home selling process there is tension and Guy's sense of humor was perfectly timed. You get a real person with Guy - someone we came to like a great deal.

Guy and his team provided excellent, professional service in selling my Alameda condo. I especially liked that Guy was my key point of contact.
