There's something about cooking marinated meats over a hot grill... Love this Gyu-Kaku! I know this is japanese but it reminds me of a Korean BBQ that I used to eat at in Richmond a long time ago.

We had their salad... because we knew we had a LOT of bbq on the way so we're balanced.

Their chicken karaage felt like it just came out of the deep fryer as it was smokin' hot, super juicy and delicious. The burnt tongue was worth it!

Next up with their beef sukiyaki bibimbap. It was absolutely delicious with that crispy crusty rice and the perfectly cooked and seasoned beef.

Now on to the cooking. You do your own so you can only blame yourself if it's over or under cooked! We may have almost ordered all the proteins... Yaki-Shabu Beef,
Premium Ribeye, Kalbi Chuck Rib, Toro Beef,
Pork Belly, Chicken Thigh... My favourite was the Kalbi chuck rib. Just the right balance of flavour, fatty goodness and seasoning.

We were so full at the end of the meal but still ended up having enough room for their taiyaki which was filled with sweet red bean.

I can't wait to come back here again!

Amazing place! the food was great and so was the service. At the time the WiFi wasn't work so they couldn't take orders. The employs where great at hand the situation. Our cloths also didn't come out smelling like smoke, no smoke in air either.

The food and service were excellent. We stopped by after smelling the aroma of bbq'd meat while walking by - made us realize how hungry we were.

We ordered the cheese & butter corn, yuzu avocado salad, edamame, garlic noodles and angus beef. Everything was absolutely delicious.

I've been to Gyu-Kaku in a different location, and here it's still just as wonderful. The food is amazing as usual. The service was nice but kind of lazy. The ambiance was chill and relaxing. My only complaint: no Ponzu sauce like other locations

Great restaurant with a great environment.
Went for a date night and this place surprised me well. The menu wise pretty easy to understand and food is amazing.

We got the option to do our own bbq, but you can do by yourself. Sushi was good as well: really good flavour.

They provided a great customer service.

Hopefully you get the great experience that I had.

      Thanks

A group of us came here for dinner. You need to make reservations online. Our group was given a 2 hour dining period which wasn't enforced on a week night.
We ordered the set menu which consisted a lot of meat dishes. If you are a carnivore, you'll love this place.
We had starters of Gyu - Kaku salad and edamame to S'mores for dessert.

*Must order dish - Sukiyaki fried rice was everyone's favourite! Flavourful and tasty!

      Ambiance: 4/5
Service: 5/5 - servers were helpful in telling us how long to grill various meats
Food: 5/5 - good selection of meats but lacking a good selection of vegetables
Parking: paid lot next to the restaurant at Nelson just before you turn right onto Howe. A challenge as restaurant is on a one-way street, Nelson.

Food was excellent, and all the features worked well.

Service was a little slower than I might hope, but professional and courteous.

Restaurant felt a bit busy and loud.

All three Gyu-Kaku locations are pretty good! This one had pretty good service and food, as usual. -1 for the salad (not enough dressing at this location), and beef tongue (too thick and chewy). Everything else was fantastic, and my friends and I had a great time! We really enjoyed the chicken karaage, and the harami secret pot was amazing.

PS: Ask to change the grill when it gets too burnt for you. Paid parking lot.

Solid 3.8. Flavourful meats, flavourful sauces, but lacked a variety of flavour with the meats. Majority of the meats were marinate in the same marinade, which is delicious don't get me wrong, but it's a lot of the same flavour. Service was nice and friendly. Would come back

Well managed bbq spot. They have an efficient system. We booked online for 3. Upon arriving they told us we had 2 hours. The menu had so many options we just opted for the $50 pp set menu. It was plenty of food. I'd recommend the set courses if you can't decide and want a bit of everything.

Service was attentive, they have a system to ensure you have a good experience within your alloted time.

Got the meal for 4 and it was the perfect amount. Everything split in to 4 and everyone ended up full. S'mores desert was an awesome last touch to the meal! The meat was very tender and flavorful, as well. Servers were all very polite and accommodating, too. Could have without roast beef "sushi", but the fried rice/tuna appetizer was great!
