H & L Remediation

H&L was super responsive and did an amazing time during a very trying time for my family. They were recommended by our insurance company and they lead the way through the insurance process and we're fully supportive with handling our smoke damage and our personal belongings as well as our property . I cannot say enough nice things about Todd (owner) Debbie, and the rest of the H&L team. OMG! They turned what felt like a terrible calamity into a minor issue and saved me and my family thousands of dollars and loads of stress.

In November my cat brought a mouse into our house from outside. The mouse found a gap near my dishwasher to hide and we couldn't get it during the night so went to bed. The next morning we awoke to our kitchen flooded because the mouse ate a hole in the dishwasher water line (braided nylon...mice are freaks). Hot water had been spraying into our undersink cabinet and ultimately all over the kitchen floors for ~2 hours from 4am to 6am. I called a few water remediation places and H&L was the most responsive and able to have their team to my house ~2 hours after calling.

They cleared up all the standing water and wiped down everything with an anti-mold (my terminology) chemical after taking apart the cabinet and other areas. They put industrial-sized fans and a dehumidifier under the house and in the kitchen which we had to leave running for ~4 days.

I thought for sure our wood floors and cabinets would be warped and water damaged beyond repair but after ~3 months I am declaring victory with only our sink cabinet needing partial replacement. The wood floors have very minor warping that will go away with our next floor refinishing. There is no damp wood smell or other issues in my kitchen or the walls and this is all due to H&L's incredible attention to detail.

The cherry on the cake is that H&L is very reasonably priced. This is on top of all their attention to detail, responsiveness, friendliness, and guidance.

I hope to never need to utilize H&L services again (ha, sorry Todd) but would emphatically A++++++++++++++ recommend H&L to anyone that has a water remediation issue in the future.

H&L was fast to respond. My opinion: H&L wanted me to demo 3 rooms of sheetrock, bath cabinets and flooring stating this is the only way to determine if there was mold in my home after a 2 or 3 hours of flooding in the main bath. One toilet overflowed and they wanted to demo 3 rooms, including both sides of the walls from the spill, floors and bath cabinets. H&L even wanted to rip out the newly refinished oak floor that had standing grey water on it for a couple of hours without any visible water penetration, warping or damage. H&L said it was for MOLD safety to be sure there was no mold inside the walls or floors even after 5 days of professional drying in the home.

H&L went with rip out everything to clean up the home telling me I needed to do this work for safety reasons because of possible mold even though moisture meters recorded normal readings 2 weeks after the spill, no visible damage was observed and nothing felt damaged/soft. When I canceled H&L to regroup on 4-7-24 too look at my options Cassendra tried to bully me on the phone and kept talking about possible mold as I questioned her on removing the sheetrock. She then warned me about using non licensed people to do any work. H&L contacted my Tenants to let them know of all the dangers. Now H&L is telling me they sent some literature on "Toilet Overflows to me. That did not happen. The first I heard from H&L on the Toilet water "dangers" was yesterday 5-7-24 in their response here on Yelp.

The city assessed the bathroom and said that no demo was recommended at the time. I emphasized that the toilet overflowed to the city. I had the floors professionally sanitized by another company.

H&L said they have contacted the tenants and the property manager that terminated himself again.

Remember they were quick and thorough with cleaning up the spill.

After receiving an estimate for mold/water damage from H&L, I asked if their work was guaranteed if air tests failed when the work was completed. They said they needed to write a new estimate and it doubled the cleaning amount of the original estimate and increased the cost by 25%. It makes no sense to me why they would send me a low ball estimate first with the expectation I wouldn't know to confirm proper cleaning with air tests. The next company I got an estimate from didn't change their estimate after asking if the work was guaranteed to pass air tests and the estimate was 12% cheaper.

Make sure you ask about a guarantee for passing air tests--especially if working with H&L.

Response to reply: I am sorry but I don't feel it is reasonable to double the cleaning costs from 4 to 8 hours, and double the heapa filter machine time from 3 to 6 days, in response to asking about guaranteeing your work. It stands to reason the initial quote was for substandard work. Air tests were never mentioned as a recommendation either to ensure proper cleaning and it was only since I had previous mold damage I knew to ask.

My husband called H&L since our water heater was leaking and we wanted to make sure there was no water damage to our home.

H&L stopped by to take a look and used a moisture meter to see check. They not only checked the water heater area, but also checked the guest bathroom that is a wall apart from it. There were no signs of water damage and it did not cost anything for them to come check.

Even though no actual work was done, I am glad they were honest about if there needed to be any repairs. I recommend them if you really do have a water damage issue going on.

Nothing speaks more than when people who helped to save your home also gave you advice in navigating through the insurance and HOA.

I wouldn't wish water damage on anyone, but if disaster strikes, I would only trust the team at H&L Restoration. They didn't just save my home from the tremendous damage, they walked alongside with us every step of the way.

Let me tell you, the past few months of navigating through insurance and HOA claims have been pure pain and suffering. My family is actually the victim of the upstairs neighbor's extensive water damage. We ourselves haven't been able to get insurance and HOA to resolve the situation. It felt like an endless dark situation. With having one toddler and one baby, we couldn't sleep under this amount of stress.

Thankfully, because H&L has been in the industry so long, they have wells of knowledge when it comes to the intricate situation between insurance and HOA. They explained things clearly and pointed out the correct process of being a liability claim. It makes a world of difference when there are people on your side during the difficult time.

Moreover, with their long-earned good reputation, people in the industry respect not only their profession but also their team. They tried their best to advocate for our family with the insurance company and dealt with the process. They weren't just saving our home; they were giving us hope.

I can't say enough good things about the team at H&L Restoration. They are professional, knowledgeable, and communicative. And I hope other people should at least have the opportunity like us to work with them.

There is no service I would recommend more than H&L!! Their level of professionalism and attention to detail was impeccable. After our home was ravished by Fire and Water damage, we needed folks we could trust with what remained of our belongings. They took such good care of us and did so with integrity and empathy ! I don't usually leave reviews but I need to commend my insurance company for recommending H&L Restoration. I finally got back into my home tonight after a dramatic time but coming home to everything in place for me thanks to H&L really has put a sence of acceptance in my situation. I just want to shout out to the guys and woman who worked their tails off for weeks for me. Thank you again .

H&L did an amazing job of removing mold in my Santa Cruz Cabin. Casaundra was especially helpful in keeping me informed throughout the process. Highly recommend!

I actually didn't need their service - just surface mold - but they talked me through figuring that out and I really appreciate that. Will definitely use them when I do need help. They were very knowledgeable and helpful.
