Check in was quick and friendly. The location is right next to the airport runway but the soundproofing is very good. The beds are very springy so you will feel every movement of someone with you in bed. Pillows were not great. There was a red stain on one of the bath towels that grossed me out. I'm not sure how this wasn't visible to any staff, especially the person who folded and placed it in the room.

EV charging is listed as a feature of this hotel but know that 1) it's actually shared with and located at the hotel immediately next door and 2) the cost is 50 cents per kWh, which is double the off-peak pricing of the Hegenberger Tesla supercharger. So you'll definitely be paying for the convenience of charging your Tesla here. Most other hotels have free charging for guests. When I arrived at 9:30pm all of the chargers were occupied although the app indicated that one was available so someone was just parked there.

Had the worst time here. Came here last weekend for a one day stay. They were training someone which I didn't mind but they didn't have my room ready by 3 pm. They said they wouldn't have rooms ready for 2 hours and only had one left that they gave me. Additionally, when given my key, they said the room number out loud which is a huge safety concern!

On top of everything else, the bar was closed for the entire weekend. It was just one thing after the other. Not sure if I'll come back again.

Front desk staff are in desperate need of training. It shouldn't be difficult to process a tax exempt stay, but the clerk checking me out had no clue, and they didn't have a manager on call, which I find very strange having worked in a hotel where we had to have someone on-call 24x7. I asked for a call back... three weeks later, no call. This used to be my favorite place, but I find myself questioning my sanity every time I stay there.

Another issue is that a kid pulled a fire alarm, and there was no direction from the staff. We evacuated the building, and stood around. No one came out to tell us the building was clear, even though its state law in most locales.

      Updated review

Update: the general manager, Nicole, said she would give us a refund for our $236 park and fly bill. She indicated that they gave the refund as a courtesy, not obligation. The general manager was empathetic and professional.

DO NOT PARK AND FLY! YOUR CAR WILL BE STOLEN! They have a locked gated area in back of the hotel that the staff did NOT offer when I arrived. The assistant manager, Jovy, had the audacity to tell me that they just jump the fence anyway when I asked her why it wasn't offered. There was literally one car back there in the gated area. They are setting customers up for thieves. You will be parking at your own risk. DONT STAY HERE!!!

The Hampton Inn & Suites Oakland Airport-Alameda delivered an average experience. The hotel seems to be in need of a substantial update; the rooms, reminiscent of the 1980s, lacked the modern amenities expected of a contemporary stay, such as AC and USB charging ports conveniently located near the bed, which was surprising for a Hilton property.

Additionally, the air conditioning unit was notably loud, and the external (parking lot) lighting was intrusive at night, detracting from a restful sleep environment. The complimentary breakfast was particularly disappointing with powdered eggs and what seemed to be canned fruit--it was a far cry from the days when Hilton properties offered an eatable breakfast. Regrettably, the breakfast was so visually unsatisfactory that I chose not to eat it.

Considering this airport is close to the Oakland Airport, you'd expect their "shuttle service" to have a marked vehicle, to have clearly defined procedures that the front desk knows (guide guests where to stand at pick up spots, etc) and to have a book with reserved times to note who's reserved a spot from hotel to airport.

I asked Front Desk on Friday night, "how long does it take to travel to the Oakland airport." Five minutes was the reply. I requested a 6am ride on Saturday morning from hotel to airport. The front desk wrote it on a slip of paper.
      550am I'm in the lobby.

The (different) Front Desk person advises the Shuttle departs at :15 and :45 after the hour. My 6am shuttle is not available. So I waited 25 minutes in the lobby. Then, other passengers were late for the 615am shuttle so we actually didnt leave at 615am. The passenger who missed the shuttle because he was advised it was at 6am and 630am, was the Captain of an airline. The airline crew tried to reach the Captain via phone as we're driving away to advise the times communicated for pickup were not accurate. Uber was not available.

I learned this is a shared shuttle service between other hotels and the communication is terrible between the hotel, passengers (hotel guests) and shuttle drivers. I would not recommend this hotel and I'm aware the airline crew that had this similar unfortunate experience is also going to take action internally.

Checked in here without a car in order to venture out for meals. Friendly staff however, I made the mistake of choosing a room on the airport side and was less than 100 yards from where the jets stop to wind up and take off. That extremely loud noise started at O dark thirty and made it impossible to get any sleep after 4:30AM. Due to covid and stupid governor mandate, there was no breakfast offered and no restaurants nearby!
My first evening, I ordered dinner through Uber eats and waited 2 hours for delivery and paid almost $30 for 2 cold tasteless tacos!
All in all, I can't wish this experience on anyone! I moved out after 2 nights and moved to the other side of the airport to the Marriott Courtyard on Hegerberger. There were several Dining options in walking distance.

Stayed one night to take a minor to an early flight. All Staff very friendly and hotel super tidy and clean. The hotel shuttle came on time and also picked me up on time as scheduled to take me back to the hotel. The complimentary breakfast had a great selection from self made waffles to oatmeal. The breakfast area is comfortable and relaxing. I didn't try the bar or dinner options but there were a lot of people enjoying the bar. Exercise room was very clean. Room was basic and comfortable.

My family came by to help me move to my new place, and this was the place that was most convenient for all of us. We had a pleasant stay, and my family even commented on coming back here whenever they want to visit me in the Bay Area. It's really close to the Oakland airport and right by the Harbor Bay Trail!

Hot chocolate, coffee, and tea were always available at the lobby. Free breakfast was provided with our stay and they were to-go due to COVID. Microwaves are available downstairs if you have those late night cravings like me, haha! Gym was accessible, but you had to let one of the staff know if you want to use it. For ladies, if you have your monthly event during your stay, free pads are provided at the lobby bathroom! The bar was completely empty downstairs, but people utilized that nice, quiet space to "work from home" during the day! It's also utilized as a space for people to just hang if you don't want to be in your hotel room all day.

Make sure to hide away items in your car as well (or take it with you). There are plenty of signs in the parking lot with this warning. There are no restaurants nearby this hotel, so be prepared to have food delivered or go out of your way to drive out in Alameda/Oakland!

Note: this Hampton Inn is extreme close to Oakland Airport but a few miles to the highway (freeway). It's nice though as it is away from all the city hustle and bustle but right off the northern part of the runway. Thanks to the double paned windows to block out the noise.

Amenities are perfect. I had two problems with the Hampton Inn, no fridge in the room, and the waffle maker for breakfast wasn't working properly (both mornings). Very minor problems, everything else was perfect.

Service was awesome. The breakfast was good. Plenty of parking (front and back of the building), WiFi worked great, comfy beds and pillows, basic Directv, nice bathroom, everything you know of in a Hampton Inn.

Would definitely stay at this location again if the price stays reasonable.

They're also remodeling and changing its brand to the higher tier Hilton name (forgot the name), but that's coming in 2019.
