Handyman

Sent request to hang our exterior custom Bahama style shutters. Within 1 hr received a call from Eric, a quote in the evening and installation 2 days later. From the beginning he was eager and wanted the job. Although we were apprehensive to use a handyman every contractor we called turned out to be cost prohibitive and weeks out for installation. We couldn't be happier. Eric took pride in his work, carefully handled our newly built and painted shutters and was extremely conscientious of caring for our home (that was just newly painted too). He patched and touched up paint as needed. It was a huge job for 1 person and talking about how he'd approach the work built trust he could do the job. Eric was confident and accepted our input and suggestions along the way. We realized significant cost savings and would not hesitate to use him again.

Eric came to our home to replace two old and crooked doors. He was on time, friendly, and professional. Also, affordable! He did a fantastic job and we will definitely use his services in the future!

Update: We had Eric come out to install a bathroom exhaust and fix our fan and he did a great job on both! Very much recommend.

Showed up on time and helped me with several furniture assembly projects, including a very challenging dining room table. Prices were reasonable.

He arrives on time and if something changes he is quick to inform you. So far, he has done 5 things for me in my home including painting, baseboard replacement, wallpaper installation, lock replacement, and replacing my bifold closet door with a barn door (which required opening the wall for stud mounting) and repairing the drywall. Eric does good work, has reasonable prices and is serious about meeting customer expectations.
I would ABSOLUTELY recommend if you are looking for a good handyman/ contractor -as most home owners know, they are hard to find.

I asked Eric to come by to replace an existing front door with a replacement (not pre-hung). This required him to fit the replacement door into the existing door's frame which is pretty challenging. I also asked him to replace an old toilet with a new one.

Eric arrived early and put down material on the floor. He had the toilet replaced in less than an hour with no mess. The old toilet's wax ring was leaking so the tiles around the base of the toilet were soiled. He cleaned those tiles during the replacement process.

Replacing the door was more challenging because the door was a little taller than the existing frame allowed so he cut the bottom of the door incrementally to make it fit as snug as possible.

The new door had a latch at a different height than the old one so he had to cut a new opening in the existing frame for the new latch. The replacement door opened in the opposite direction of the existing one so Eric turned the hinges and door around. This required him to remove the door handle and lock. He installed a new lock. The new lock left no room for the handle to be reattached- Eric was able to adjust the lock position so that the handle could be reattached. The door and lock look great.

He charged very reasonable prices for both services. He cleaned up all the mess and was very professional throughout. Highly recommended.

BEWARE: ERIC DOES BAD WORK AND IS BOTH A LIAR AND A CHEAT.

After reading a number of good reviews, I hired Eric to replace the lockset on our front door, a job he said he was qualified to do. That was a mistake--please read the below so you can learn from my misplaced trust and save yourself time, money, energy, and a headache.

When Eric arrived, it quickly became clear he had no idea what he was doing, and ignored the detailed, step-by-step instructions that accompanied the lock. (This was the same make and model of the old lock, so no new holes needed to be drilled in the door...it was a simple swap.) He made no effort to put down a drop cloth or any protection for my floors, and complained the entire time he was working. After he finished, the thumb turn on the inside of the door was off by 90 degrees (unlocked at 3 o'clock and locked at 6 o'clock instead of unlocked at 12 o'clock and locked at 3 o'clock), but Eric assured us this was the correct way to install the lock. A few days later, the lock could no longer be operated by the key, so I reached out to Eric who angrily asserted he did nothing wrong and if he came out to fix his mistake and HE decided he had made none, he would charge an additional $50 for his time. (He claimed that the lock had broke on its own or it was a "natural error...after less than a week of use.) I was positive he was at fault, so I initially agreed, but quickly changed my mind and consulted a licensed locksmith (Dup-A-Key in Pacific Beach - great work and very professional). Per the locksmith: "The inside thumb turn of the lock was installed upside down with the timing of the tail piece being off a little and bent. I flipped the thumb turn and adjusted the timing so the cylinder and tail piece would properly actuate the deadbolt without retracting it when removing key."

When I shared this with Eric, he rejected it as a lie on my part...an effort to wrongly get the $95 from him that I paid the locksmith to repair his shoddy work. He said he needed more "proof" that it was his error. When I asked what kind of proof, he repeatedly shouted, "I don't know!" Then he finally said that if I got a statement from the locksmith as to exactly what he did wrong--and sent pictures--, he'd Venmo me the $95 I spent. Keep in mind--I wasn't asking for a full refund of the $180 I paid Eric to do this job (badly), but just my additional cost for the locksmith. So I obliged, sharing pictures, the locksmith's receipt, offering their phone number for him to get the facts, shared a text message from the locksmith with explicit details of all Eric's blunders, and even offered to go with Eric to the locksmith in person to clear this up. He declined and, even after I got and sent all his "proof," he never gave me my money back as he'd promised and stopped returning my texts and phone calls.

ME:
How much clearer can I be-you installed the locking mechanism upside down, and during install you bent the lock's tailpiece A PB locksmith just charged me $95 to repair your mistake. Making a mistake can be honest, but you need to own that mistake and make it right. How can you act like you did nothing wrong? What do I gain from having to deal with this?

HIM:
Am I supposed to believe you? With any prof

ME:
So the receipt from the locksmith isn't sufficient? Why would I make this up?

HIM:
Send prof I'll send you the money. Haha, because you can get $ 95 And I don't know you. This are just facts don't take it personal. Send me prof I'll send you your $95."

You don't want this unprofessional, unqualified, dishonorable and disreputable menace in your home or part of your project. Making a mistake is acceptable, but refusing to own up to that mistake and then lying once you've said you will make good on an error is adding insult to injury. Eric is a blight on the handyman community and should not be allowed to hurt others with more bad work - I'm pursuing an inquiry into the legality of his business through local and state agencies...I want him out of circulation and unable to damage other's property. Look elsewhere for work to be done- Eric M. is a liar and a cheat.

Bad craftsmanship, i hired him to build a shed It was my fault i hired him by hour. It felt like I was not getting my money's worth also the craftsmanship was horrible from the beginning.. the header boards were slanted, doors were not closing properly. Half the rafter nails were not done. Siding was cut horribly.
Please stay away or at least don't hire by hour

Eric arrived on time and worked professionally and efficiently on 4 projects: replacing a pergola tarp, removing a garage floor stain, repairing a bathroom cabinet, and doing some paint touch-ups. All work was done 100% to satisfaction. His rates are very reasonable and the quality is high. I would use him again.

We hired Raul to even out a wall in the kitchen along with patch work and painting. Raul did an awful job with the texturing as seen in the pictures. We have to now hire someone new to fix his job as he was not willing to come back and fix it all. The entire wall is patchy all around and you can visibly see all of the work he did. He does a good job on putting up the dry wall but is not good at texturing. We had asked him to texture the wall to match the rest of the walls and he could not do it but he did collect his money even though it's outside his scope of work. He tried to tell us that it is because it is a ceiling and it's hard to do. The other downside is that his timing is always off and he does not deliver on his set time expectations. We had hired Raul in the past but due to his work ethic and unprofessionalism I would not recommend him.

Eric is a great handyman he been help me around the house and fixing all my stuff he is nice a respectful and he is great worker and respectful he has been fixing stuff in my house for 3yrs I recommend him
