Q:
What is acceptable dining attire?
A:
Attire is nice or business casual. Nice jeans or khaki's dressed up on top are fine. Shorts, hats, flip-flops, and overly athletic wear are not permitted in the Main Dining Room. Our Piano Lounge walk-in tables are more casual.

The food , service and ambience just can't-be beat at Harris if you are looking for a very good, NO, THE BEST American dry aged steak you can land in SanFrancisco! ( I do not know about their Japanese or Japanese style steak, as I have found it too fatty for my taste at other places so haven't ordered it), but I imagine it is very good.
Their service and atmosphere is classy, and it feels very comfortable to me, while still being very traditional and special. The little details are invisibly taken care of. Lighting is perfect to frame your dining partner while the rest of the house slowly disappears, as does the fine service until it's needed! None of this is by chance!
It is a very classic, fine restaurant, and though not " cheap", it reflects a great value. It does not have dozens of corporate style side dishes found in some new steak places in the city, but it focuses on a reasonable menu done perfectly. It
is a " mature, refined place, with excellent food and service. What more can we ask? I know of no comparison for a great steak, in SF.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Aug 7, 2024
I feel like you're separated based on how formal you're dressed. I think there was a sign somewhere in the store, but couldn't remember. But the restaurant itself was big for what it is and was able to accompany date night, upscale casual, and fancy celebratory night out!
The service we received was fantastic and our orders came out all at once for our guests (beginning with refreshers, drinks, and desserts). The cuts of meat were so tender and cooked to perfection, and the scallop potatoes was delicious! I'm so glad this was a steakhouse we got to try and experience in the city that delivered quality.
It was nice to check out the displays of meat outside (and inside) to see what you're eating and how it's being aged! It was also great learning about the history of the Harris family, and the common question of whether it's associated with Harris' Ranch. Answer: no! And when you find out the why, it becomes more juicy. I'm glad our server, Mark, was beyond knowledgeable in the cuts of meat, how it is best prepared, cocktail recommendations and family history of the establishment!
The live music was definitely a bonus and gave some type of speakeasy feel. My kids enjoyed it, as did we!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Barry C.San Jose, CA272253423Jul 29, 20242 check-ins
best steakhouse I've ever eaten at hands down. service is amazing and everything on the menu I've tried thus far has been amazing.
I've been to steak houses all across the world and in New York and Harris' tops them all for taste, cquality, and value.
the dry aged rib eye and prime rib are amazing. all the appetizers are amazing and a hefty portion.
everything is worth the money here. great wine selection but also you can bring your own if you pay a corkage fee.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 25, 2024
Such an amazing experience! We went for an anniversary and decided to splurge a bit. Both steaks we got were cooked perfectly and paired so well with the mashed potatoes, which our waitress recommended getting. The cooked vegetables were snow peas and thin carrots which I thought was a little weird to pair with the rest of the entree, but they were still pretty good. The wine list is extensive and has something for everyone. The ambiance is very classy and sophisticated, it almost feels like being taken back in time.

This fine dining establishment in San Francisco is everything you can ask for: really good steak, good quality food overall, great service, and live music on a Tuesday night (most places don't have live music middle of the week).
The 20 oz ribeye was cooked to perfection. I asked for medium rare and it was absolutely perfectly medium rare, super juicy and tender. Everything I ordered was fresh and tasty. I wish I had room for dessert, but unfortunately my appetite is not what it once was!
I sat right next to the musicians and loved my front row seat. The music wasn't too loud since there were no drummer this time. I like sitting against one side of the wall and just people watch.
Can't wait to come back! Although this place is wonderful, it does come with a hefty price tag so I would consider this a special occasion type of place. Perfect for a date who you are trying to impress, or out-of-towners who really love a good steak, or business dinner if you have the budget for it.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - 31583125Aug 12, 2024
I went to Harris for my birthday dinner and had a fantastic time. The staff is very pleasant and the food was delicious. The steak is perfectly cooked to your liking and they have a variety of cuts, depending on what your preferences are. I was particularly pleased with the special appetizers that had that night, including caprese salad and scallops. Overall, a really great and special dinner experience that I would recommend. It is on the corner of Van Ness so seems like not the best place for a restaurant but once you're inside, you wouldn't know the difference of where you are in the city.

Ayo, it's your boy Daniel Lee and lemme tell ya 'bout my experience at Harris' Steakhouse in San Francisco. This spot ain't playin' around when it comes to steak - straight five stars, no doubt!
Walkin' into Harris' is like steppin' into a classy, smooth joint. The vibe is all about that old-school elegance, with dark wood, comfy seats, and just the right amount of dim lighting to set the mood.
Now, let's talk about the main event - that American Wagyu steak. Man, oh man, it was off the chain! Cooked just right, juicy, and packed with flavor. Each bite was like a party in my mouth, no lie. And don't even get me started on them scalloped potatoes - creamy, cheesy, straight up comfort food that had me feelin' like I was chillin' at home.
The service was on point, too. Harris' crew knows how to treat a playa right. They were all about makin' sure I was feelin' good, with dope recommendations on wine that took the whole meal to another level.
From start to finish, Harris' Steakhouse delivers that top-notch experience. Whether you rollin' solo or with your crew, this place is a must-hit for anyone lookin' to vibe out with some serious steak game in SF.
So, if you wanna elevate your steak game and kick it in a spot that's all about class and flavor, Harris' Steakhouse is where it's at. Best believe, I'll be back for more!

The most incredible dinning experience! Dinning room was bright and elegant. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. I was so excited to find out the house potato was scalloped potato's and their special was Oscar style filet mignon!!! It was like all the stars aligned! The progression of the meal was perfect giving plenty of time to enjoy our appetizers before our meals were served. The crab cakes had huge pieces of crab and the sauce was creamy and added another layer to the flavor. The steak tartar was mostly for my husband but I tried it and it had good flavor but I can't do the texture I feel like I'm eating raw hamburger not for me! My steak was cooked perfectly and the crab and sauce were just Devine! Loved the potato's and even the peas! A perfect meal!!

My family threw a surprise party for my great-grandmother's birthday, and we loved every part of the experience, from planning to the dinner itself. We booked their Skylight room, which can fit up to 70 guests, chose a custom menu, and had the option for an open bar (which we declined). They let us arrive a few hours early to set up decorations and provided a microphone and projector for speeches and a photo presentation. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and my grandmother had a wonderful time. I definitely want to return for an upscale date night to enjoy the restaurant's ambiance.

Another one of those classic SF spots I frequent but keep forgetting to review lol. This is as OG as you can get besides HOPR for classic SF institutions. Impeccable service and attention. Classic steakhouse vibe. Certain nights have live music.
The food couldn't be more perfect. Awesome lineup of steaks. Dry aged, Japanese and Australian A5 wagyu, porterhouse, you name it. I always have a tough time deciding tween the porterhouse and bone-in ribeye but I'm never disappointed with either. Tonight's potato special was scalloped potatoes....mouthwatering. street oarki.g can be challenging especially on weekends. Reservations highly recommendedHelpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0
