Hassett Ace Hardware - Palo Alto

Amazing customer service!!

I have rarely reviewed an ace hardware, but I had such a pleasant experience with so many knowledgeable and friendly employees and manager and I felt they had to be recognized.

The store is even undergoing a remodel and amongst all the inventory chaos, they were all still chill.

So I came on Yelp, and am shocked to see a hardware store with such positive reviews, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised haha. Well deserved!

Gotta appreciate the service here! I went into the Palo Alto location looking for a single machine screw for a new product we had bought online that didn't come with all the right parts, and two employees spent a total of 20 minutes patiently helping me (long story). They couldn't have been nicer about it. Service like that is not something you find much any more.

Look I'm a total sucker for alot of things and old school hardware stores are one of my weaknesses. There is something about wandering around, looking at the different wares, finding that odd odd or end you did not even know you needed that is appealing (For me its also a bit more macho than stationary or Hallmark store which I also like LOL)

As the big box retailers take over, these smaller operations are becoming few and far between, and while they will never be able to beat them say on price point, they more than make up for it in convenience, AND customer service.

This particular Ace hardware is one of 5 that the same family has owned since 1957. I'm not sure its one of their bigger ones, but it is well stocked and pretty much everything a homeowner would need for small and even some large jobs. Its well organized and laid out in a logical manner.

The real perk here is the excellent customer service. Its friendly, accommodating, and they can help you puzzle through stuff you need or how to fix it. "You know, the thing on the end of the thing, that makes the thing go flush" THEY know what that thing is!!!!!

You can also order stuff online and pick it up at the store if they do not have it in stock.

The only downside is that that parking can be a challenge which I avoid buy going during non meal hours (its in Downtown Palo Alto)

Hassett Ace Hardware proved to be a reliable and well-stocked hardware store. Whether I needed tools, gardening supplies, or household items, they had it all. The staff was helpful, and their expertise came in handy when I had questions about specific products. The store's organization made it easy to find what I needed quickly. The only drawback was that the prices were slightly higher compared to larger hardware chains, but the convenience and friendly service at Hassett Ace Hardware made it worth the visit.

I was looking for some power tools including an impact wrench, hatchet and hackzall. This store has a huge variety of Milwaukee tools to choose from. Worker Diego helped me chose which tool was right for my needs and was very helpful and polite while answering all my questions. Would definitely recommend this store over Home Depot or Lowe's

This is the place to come if you want helpful customer service. As soon as you walk in the door, someone asks if they can help you, and if you look at all puzzled, someone will be there right away to ask the same question. Some of the employees are young, but eager, and there are more experienced people as well who can give you good advice. Strongly recommended. The only downside is that there is only a small parking lot, and street parking can be a problem. Also, one-way streets can make it difficult to navigate to the store.

Dull knives, ugh, one of my pet peeves. No knives is the only thing worse. Where can I find a place that I can take my knives in, haven't me mediately sharpened, and return to me while I wait.
Re-SHARP! Yep, this is the newest thing out a knife sharpener that sharpens in less than a minute. It is a new product developed by a couple guys here in the Bay area. The only machine is located at Hassett hardware.
I took for knives in today and they were sharpened within a few minutes. Only three passes on the machine.

People are really nice and helpful. I brought the knives home and started using them immediately. They are sharp.

Check out the video I posted it's pretty amazing! So the next time I'm getting ready to carve a turkey or prime rib or just do some regular chopping and my knives are not what I want them to be, easy Peasy, Quick run over to Hassett hardware and voila my knives are like new again..

Terrific little shop, compact so it's not overwhelming like a home depot, and people are helpful, e.g. my husband and I needed a bit of help with brushes and nails/screws, and not only did the guy who worked there give us some pointers, another customer helped us with some hooks as well. The prices seem reasonable enough and we were able to find parking across the street. It has a neighborhood vibe in a sort of residential area, with wares you'd want your home to be nearby. If I lived in the area, I'd definitely make it my go-to hardware shop.

I was impressed by the helpfulness of every employee I came in contact with. Moreover, not only were they helpful, they were friendly and pleasant to deal with as well!

If you compare this experience with what you get at H. Depot, well... you can't. There is no comparison. At HD it might be days before you find a group of employees huddling in a corner hoping not to be seen. At Hassett, employees were readily available and willing to assist.

I want to give a special shout out to Clarence for being the icing on the cake at check-out. Great job everyone!
