Had an incredible evening at Hed11 with my husband this weekend. The food, the presentation, the service, and the ambiance were all top notch. Am surprised there aren't more reviews.

A previous review found fault in the restaurant design within the Kimpton hotel.. I'd disagree and say that the restaurant itself is beautifully designed - pottery from Thailand, minimalist Scandi/Asian furniture, lovely light fixtures over the bar. But I did get meh hotel energy coming from the door connecting the restaurant to the hotel - maybe place a screen around that to block the energy into the dining room?

I hope this restaurant does well!

As a huge Thai food enthusiast, I recently stumbled upon this restaurant through a lucky Instagram feed. Both me and my friend were practically bouncing in our seats with excitement!

Overall, it was a solid 4-star experience. While it was a bit on the pricier side, the entire dining experience was well worth it. The service was absolutely top-notch. From the moment we walked in, the friendly staff made us feel welcome with warm greetings. Throughout the meal, our server went above and beyond, describing each course in detail with genuine enthusiasm.

The star of the show, however, was definitely the food. They offered a beautiful tasting menu for $165 per person, featuring a delightful 11 courses. Each dish was a masterpiece of presentation and boasted unique flavor combinations that truly reminded me of Michelin-star restaurants.

Here's a breakdown into our food journey:
      - The meal kicked off with a refreshing oyster course, a perfect way to awaken the palate without being overpowering.
      - The second course offered an intriguing mix of savory and sweet elements. While the curry puff was a bit oily for me, it somehow worked in perfect harmony with the other bites.
      - The grilled Hokkaido scallop was a revelation! Cooked to perfection, and paired beautifully with the coconut curry noodles.
      - The main course got us excited. It presented a variety of dishes all on one plate, encouraging a creative mix-and-match approach. It felt like an upscale school cafeteria, and we absolutely loved the playful concept. And not the mention the wagyu was cooked to perfection.
      - Desserts was light and refreshing, We were super excited for the custard cheesecake but we set our expections too high. While the cheesecake itself was creamy and satisfying, it was a little bit dry. Both of us think a scoop of Thai tea or vanilla ice cream could have elevated this dish. Additionally, the inclusion of fried red onion offered a sweet and savory twist that might be a hit or miss depending on your preferences.

Overall, I'm definitely interested in returning and exploreing their July menu. However, one thing to keep in mind is if you're not a coconut fan, this might not be the perfect choice for you. Otherwise, this restaurant is worth checking out!

I heard about Hed 11 from a local foodie's Instagram post and was excited to hear about their experience, notably saying, "Lowkey guys we felt unworthy of being able to enjoy this heavenly experience at @hed_eleven which is @hed.verythai brand new restaurant in Japantown. For $169 per person, this experience was definitely worth it and truly a quality fine dining" - badies.af

In celebration of our anniversary, my husband and I booked our reservations on Opentable, opting for an early dinner this Saturday at 5:45pm for their 11-course tasting menu.

With their own separate ground level entrance, Hed 11 is embedded inside Kimpton Hotel Enzo in the Japantown area. When we entered, we were greeted by our lovely hostess and congratulated for our anniversary celebration.

At our table, we had red roses and a lovely card waiting for us. It was so sweet of them to go above and beyond. I've experienced fine dining in SF, but lately, it has been feeling a bit lackluster elsewhere.

Service was attentive. We loved hearing about each dish and which regions of Thailand they represented.

Their current May-June menu that we had consisted of:

01 - Thai style spicy oyster with Thai herbs and house Thai herbal infused whiskey (the house Thai herbal infused whiskey was something my husband was surprised that he enjoyed since he's not a big fan of alcohol, noting the whiskey was subtle and paired well with the dish)

02a - Kaosoi Chuckroll curry puff
02b - Caramelize shrimp with lotus root salad
02c - Thai coconut pancake with Caviar
(The small bites were such a treat with delightful bursts of flavor, texture, and heat)

03 - Grilled Hokkaido scallop coconut curry noodle, ginger, dry shrimp, pineapple (deliciously creamy, we knew if it was a main dish, it'd be game over because that's all we would eat)

      04-09: Khao gang
      - 3 colors of rice Southern style curry with chicken and young banana
      - Grouper Tom Klong soup with grilled mushroom and Thai herbs
      - Cabbage with crispy crackling and dry shimps
      - Green mango spicy salad with catfish
      - Crab chili dip, seasonal vegetable, shrimp cracker
      - Grilled wagyu beef with Jaew sauce
(We absolutely loved the chicken curry, but I couldn't resist topping some mango salad on my grilled wagyu... it was an incredible combo)

      10 - Local/Seasonal fruits in sweet syrup

11 - Thai custard cheesecake, berry, frled red onion

It was $169/ person (20% gratuity add-on for party of 5 or more)

At the end, we were pleasantly surprised with 2 additional complimentary desserts from our for our anniversary Absolutely would recommend and revisit Hed 11. Huge kudos to the staff and cooks. Well deserved praise, and wishing them a bright future.

First time trying Thai fine dining and it was an amazing experience. We had a reservation for Friday evening and got seated right away when we arrived. It was a tasting menu with 11 courses so all we had to decide was whether to add a wine pairing, get a cocktail, or have still/sparkling water. The highlight of the dinner was definitely courses 4-9 khao gang - they served these courses together and it was nothing short of a feast. The crab dish was a bit too spicy for me but the flavours were incredible and addicting and perfect with rice. The beautiful dinnerware also elevated the presentation of all the courses.
The servers were attentive and friendly - they offered me some condensed milk to neutralize the spice. We had a great time overall and would highly recommend to anyone who loves Thai food.

An eleven-course tasting menu with Michelin star ambitions - in a terribly-designed hotel restaurant space. The food is excellent, with particular standouts including a perfectly-grilled scallop, a course of small bites that includes a brilliant brisket puff, and perfect desserts. The star of the show is a series of courses, all delivered at the same time, that make up the "main" part of the meal. Portions are generous - I felt a bit too full by the end of the meal. Service is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. And while it's pricy, it's a reasonable deal given the quality of the food.

But there's still some work to do... that Michelin star is harder than just wishing it into being, and while a lot of the elements are there, the space feels like a mid-range hotel breakfast restaurant, not a Michelin fine-dining temple.

It's worth checking out, but this is not Nari (which I found disappointing but clearly has that Michelin vibe) or Kin Khao (better food, equally strange location, but because it's so busy, it feels like more of a vibe).

      First to Review

In a city full of mom and pop Thai restaurants, it's really nice to have another Thai fine dining destination. Hed 11 is located at the Kimpton Hotel Enso and offers an 11 course tasting menu. I came on their opening night. The eleven courses included:

      (1) Kumamoto Oysters with Thai herbs, spices and herbal infused whiskey - this was a great start to the menu.
      (2) Kai Soi Chuckroll curry puff, caramelized shrimp and coconut pancake with caviar - this was an impressive trio and I really loved that caramelized shrimp.
      (3) Grilled Hokkaido Scallop with Coconut Curry Noodle - loved the noodle and the Thai chili packs a punch
(4)-(9) Courses 4 through 9 were served together - it was a lot of rice but I needed all of it to get through all of the dishes. They recommend you start with the wagyu beef and the rest is a free for all. It included chicken curry, crab chili paste, grilled cabbage and catfish with mango salad. Everything was great and there were a lot of different flavors here.
(10)-(11) The dessert courses included local fruit palate cleanser and a Thai custard cake.

The food was excellent and there were definitely a lot of different flavors in this menu that really worked well together. My non-alcoholic beverage pairing for the evening was the Mae Mali which had kaffir lime and jasmine syrup. I highly recommend this mocktail - it packs a punch.

The service was attentive and my server was really good about explaining all the dishes. It was opening night and you can tell they were a little nervous but service was excellent. They are located in the old Mums Cafe so being in the restaurant brought back Shabu Shabu memories for me. I really like what they've done to the place - it's a bright, well-lit restaurant. With tax and tip, this was $240. It's what you'd expect to pay for this level of experience. Are they at Michelin level yet? I think they are on their way. Highly recommended!!!

Having a Thai testing menu is pretty rare but Hed11 exceeded my expectations. Every dish was unique - the service was excellent (as were the drinks) and looking forward to going back there soon!

This place truly deserves a Michelin star! Service, food, ambience was all top quality and never had we had a tasting menu like this. For $169 a person, you are paying for a quality meal with amazing service. All the servers were so well knowledgeable with each dish and explained everything perfectly which added to the experience. The yuzu vanilla and the pineapple cheese pie (tasted like a pina colada with caramel popcorn on the top) were both great drinks to start off the meal. Then course 1-3 gets brought out individually and then 4-9 is a set meal. And lastly 10-11 is dessert. Every dish was unique and delicious and we can't wait to see what their other seasonal menus will look like every few months.

Side tip: this place is located inside the Kimpton hotel enso on the second floor. So you can take the elevator up one floor or they have a side door opening on the right side of the hotel

Great and well presented 11-course meal, attentive service. The dishes demonstrated the chef's cooking techniques with a wide variety of seafood and other ingredients. Appetizers in courses 1-3, as well as desserts in courses 10-11, are remarkable. I had mixed feelings with courses 4-9 as a couple of dishes were too spicy for probably most people (Crab curry and Cabbage with crispy crackling and dry shrimp), and Namprik shrimp with Cha-om omelet and seasonal vegetable was so so. We would have enjoyed our dinner much more if the spiciness could be tuned down as it was mouth burning hot, with the understanding that the current spicy level is likely authentic and true to Thai.

After a few tables of people arrived, the restaurant became very loud and it was difficult for us to carry on a conversation without raising our voice.

All in all, Hed11 provided a great dining experience and this restaurant definitely has the potential to grab a Michelin star.

I Had a really great experience here. I was celebrating my pre-birthday and chose Hed11 based on a post from a content creator. Loved the fact that it was a Thai tasting since I love Thai food and found the concept fascinating. Well it did not disappoint. From the minute I came in the staff was very welcoming I felt like a guest in someone's home. The waitress I had Minty (hopefully I'm not too far of from spelling it) was super sweet and cheerful. She took the time to explain the chefs concept and the meaning of the name. I really appreciated that touch. At my table I had a nice birthday card and small gift super sweet of the staff to do that. Probably because I was dining alone but I often do. I posted a few photos of what I had. I loved everything I had, there wasn't anything I found lacking as far as flavor and presentation. The cocktails are definitely creative and really good. My favorite was the apple whiskey smoke I enjoy my bourbons and whiskeys. For food the trio of appetizers were absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back and my compliments to the chef for the concept and the food.
