Heng Long Foreign Exchange

I checked the exchange rates from many banks before I decided to go to Heng Long Foreign Exchange. Most of the banks will require a 3 day waiting period before I can pick it up from the counter. But the money has been always available for me so far at this place. I got the best rate from them and I had been back there 3 times already. I got very fast services and normally I was, in and out, within 7 mins. Li, the money exchange lady were always very nice. I definitely will come back to this place for more money exchanges.

I called in advance to ask for Icelandic Krona (ISK) and British Pounds (GBP). No one answered and it went to a full voicemail box. However, the employee called back immediately and answered my questions about the exchange rates. She said it would take 2-3 business days to get the ISK but she had the pounds on hand. I compared rates with banks and other currency exchange places. Including the $3 service fee for the transaction of exchanging two currencies, the loss rate at Heng Long was about 6.8% whereas other places was between 8.5-12.6% loss! Some banks don't charge any fees but they have a terrible exchange rate! I called the friendly lady back and told her how much I was exchanging and when I would come in.

Parking is always tricky in Chinatown. The lady who works there is the same one who answers the phone. She counts money in front of you and is fast and accurate. So if you have someone drop you off, you could be done in five minutes and have them pick you back up. The only thing is that she did ask me for my ID and social security number and when I asked why, she said the government needs it to ensure that no money laundering is happening in this transaction. I was exchanging money for our travel group and it was $950.

I would recommend Heng Long Foreign Exchange. They give a fair rate and they are very efficient.

I went here because of the great reviews on Yelp & was very pleased that the reviews were right. Great business! Easy transaction, fair rates, fair transaction fee. The clerk was efficient and polite. The store was easy to find, with a sidewalk board outside. About a three block walk from the Portsmouth parking garage, which is reasonably priced.

Get your money exchanged here for a low flat rate. I came here after my bank had no Euros on hand, so had to come up with a plan B. I could not believe what a great deal they offered, fast and very professional!

Thank you so much to Yelp for helping me find this place. While it is a bit out of the way for me, the trip is worth it for the convenience of being able to obtain foreign currency without the typical wait of a few days that banks require.

They have good exchange rates with a $3 service fee. The transaction itself lasted a few minutes and was straightforward. The friendly person staffing the booth counted the money a few times, making sure to wait until she had my full attention before doing so. I received small and large denominations of what I had ordered, which was very helpful as I didn't need to worry about breaking a large bill.

If you have needs for a less popular currency or need a large amount of that currency I would call ahead to verify they will have it or will have enough of it upon arrival.

I called in to ask if they had JPY and KRW available same day and they did! Banks typically won't have foreign currency available same day so it's nice find a place nearby that does. Their rates are pretty similar to Google and they charge a $3 fee regardless of the different currencies you are exchanging (as long as it's on the same order slip).

The lady behind the counter speaks both Chinese and English. She is extremely kind and works fast!

Always my go-to place to exchange money if I go to other countries for vacation. Fast and easy, three dollar fee. The lady behind the glass is nice and makes sure you get the correct amount. This place they move from across the street is bigger and has more sitting room.

Save yourself time and $$$ and just use airport or hotel exchange services you'll get a way better rate.

Experience was quick and easy. Parked about two blocks away at 10:30 on a weekday for $2. I exchanged $300 USD for Euros. The current exchange rate was 0.93. Here, I was given a rate of 0.89 plus $0.75 commission. Not sure if this is good or not, since I don't exchange often. Hope this helps!

103$ USD for 774$ HKD as of early Dec 2023.

Not the best rate but that is not bad. 1 star is deducted as there were insufficient $100 HkD banknotes.
