      Yet again, another sign of professionalism gone out the window in today;s world.
      It took me about an hour to reach an agent on the phone to ask specific questions about doing a one way rental with them. Now, here is why I didn't give them 1 star, the agent on the phone was very helpful albeit a bit lengthy in keeping me on the phone but still helpful and that is what customer service needs to be along with friendly which she was.
      I booked the car after difficulties with their website which needs MAJOR improvements. When I put in the car pickup/return location it takes me back to the same screen, waste of time for sure. Their rates are also quite expensive in my book but that may just be a "me" thing, not sure. 376.00 for 2 days is a bit pricey in my book.
      I got to the Hertz rental office and the lady at the desk was cordial. That is fine . I had a hard time hearing her because her mask was apparently very thick material. She was patient with me having to keep ask to repeat everything.
      Here is where it goes down hill....I get to the garage to pick up the car , there is nothing saying Hertz name on it but it looks like some sort of car area because I see a detailing vacuum and cars that look newer. I ask if this is Hertz and they say yes. A woman pulls out a phone and says sign here. She doesn't tell me what I am signing, so I ask, trust me on this one, always as what you are signing. The man asks me for my reservation and I give him the paperwork. He tells me don't worry about taking pictures of the car we already noted there are scratches. Hmmm, this is a bit odd and I should have insisted we do a walk through of the car.
      I get in the car and notice the mirrors are dirty, they have massive water spots on them. I could barely see out of them. Then I look at the floor and there is dirt on the floor. . I drive the car to the kiosk and ask the lady was this detailed, I say look at the mirror. She tells me it is because it is with wax and that happens. I don't think so lady, you might want to think then of cleaning it with something else. I say this is filthy. So she gets the can sprays it and doesn't wipe it off completely. She says see. I say you have to keep wiping to remove the spots. So she does, though she doesn't turn the rag over so it isn't still filled with wax. After she is done it does look better, not completely clean but definitely better.
      I have difficulty hooking my phone up to the Bluetooth, notice that the previous drivers haven't been deleted. Attn CAR RENTAL COMPANIES: the small details are what make you above your competition and make your customers happy. I delete the previous drivers information but when I hook up the Bluetooth I get no sound.
      Also: They supposedly help pay if you have to take a Lyft or cab to pick up car but I couldn't get internet service or reception there. So I am out another $20.00. This isn't fully their fault but thought important so people are aware to maybe screen shot when they arrive.
      I drive the car to my mothers apartment which I am leaving from. Get out of the car to take pictures. WOW, this is not good detailing at all. Let me make this clear it was a 15 minute ride from the rental location to where my mother lives. I didn't go mountain riding or it wasn't raining or I didn't hit mud or water. There is very visible dirt on the car and especially the wheels. I am shocked at this and SHOULD have taken pictures and reported it at the dealer. I am now on hold trying to find out from Hertz how to report this so I don't end up having to pay money for any of the many, many scratches and dirt on the car. I will be paying to have the car washed because I am using it to visit people and do business. I don't want to drive up in a dirty car.
      So the last note here, they advertise like they care about their customers but they keep promoting going to the website when you call them, it is very difficult to find customer service numbers on their website and to report this sort of thing. I couldn't find anything to upload pictures. I do like the car though, it is a Kia Soul 2019 ( a little old in my eyes, usually rentals are a year old at max ). Fun car and roomy.
      Sorry Hertz, I wish I could have liked you more.

      Oh lastly, after being on hold for 20 minutes trying to reach customer service, it starts ringing like I will be getting a person and then it disconnects.

      Dirt Spots on the side of the Car...ick.

      I was expecting pandemonium based on the reviews but I was totally pleased with my car rental experience here. My car was being serviced by Chevy and they partner with this Hertz location for loaner cars. When I read all the negative reviews, I nearly declined getting a rental while my car was in the shop.

      I arrived at around 10:30am on a Tuesday. There was no line but all the staff were working with other customers on the phone. One took the time to acknowledge me. Then when an employee was ready, I provided a confirmation number from Chevy and I was efficiently on my way to picking up my rental.

      Upon returning the car, I also had a smooth experience. I rented an EV at 100% charge and wasn't able to charge it before returning it. But as long as you return an EV with at least 75% charge, there are no fees. Hertz also drove me to the Chevy dealership and the shuttle was quick. No surprise charges at all for me.

      Overall, I only encountered kind people at this Hertz! My only mild critique is about the location itself: navigating through the Marriott hotel garage felt confusing when I was getting the car, but returning it was smooth thanks to the signage in the garage.

      I decided to try this location a second time and so glad I did! It was closer for me bc I didn't want to go all the way to the Oakland airport.

      -Outstanding service with Floyd. He was super helpful, fast in booking, professional, and accommodating with my car reservation.
      -easy drop off
      -friendly staff
      -good location

      Will definitely come back here again to rent.

      This spot has its ups and downs. On the bright side, downtown Oakland's prices beat Oakland Airport, and I snagged a sweet deal on a Tesla for just $150 over five days--a steal! However, when I picked up the car, there was an unexpected 20-30 minute wait. Also, note that street parking is the only option, and Downtown Oakland's notorious for break-ins, so keep an eye out.

      Navigating the pickup and drop-off is a bit tricky--Marriott garage, fourth floor--make sure to pay close attention at the counter. If you miss the instructions, you might get a little lost wandering through the Marriott Hotel searching for your rental car in the parking garage.

      Dropping off lacked the usual process; I handed the keys to an agent cleaning return vehicles. However, she didn't have much to say. She took the keys, and that was it--no receipt, no mileage check--unconventional, to say the least.

      Hertz customer service isn't the speediest, with long waits on the toll-free line. Yet, once through, extending my rental was a breeze. Despite the quirks, I'd return for the affordability, but be prepared for a different rental experience at this Hertz location.

      I would give zero stars if I could. Rented a car with them, showed up and was told my rental was canceled without any prior notification. So after paying for an Uber to get to my car rental, waiting in line fire 30+ minutes, I was callously told that they would not be able to support me. After reaching out to their headquarters for support, there was no additional support. Do not rent from this company or location.

      Don't rent from here! Read the reviews before coming! I arrived at 8a.m for my car reserved pickup and they had no cars to rent me. Took almost two hours to clean, take pictures and actually get a car. Plus the service was giving "who cares" the entire time.

      When we arrived at Oakland Airport Car Rental center, we were told our car had just come in. It would take 20 minutes to clean it. 30 minutes later it was not available and when we complained we were told that they would give us an upgrade because we had waited so long. 15 minutes after that we were given our car--the same class as what we had originally ordered--no upgrade in sight. It took an hour before we were on the road, making us late for our next appointment. When mentioning this to Hertz, we simply got a "We will do better next time."

      This place is a rip off. I rented a vehicle and returned it. I even vacuumed it out really good before I returned it. I also purchased the stolen and damage voucher for $25 dollars a day Which came to a total of $175.
      After I returned the vehicle and went home, I got a phone message from Hertz saying that there was a crack in the windshield, which I didn't even know happened They say they are going to charge me for the windshield. I can't even talk to anyone, the phone number has an automated system, which does not allow you to talk to a person. I am so angry that these people can just call me and say they're gonna charge my credit card without speaking to me directly. I do not recommend this place and I will not recommend it to any of my friends or family. If there was a zero score, I would give it a zero score.

      It' shouldn't be an added bonus to receive excellent service anywhere, but it's not necessarily a Bay Area experience. I've heard this from others as well. When you spend money in NYC or LA, folks treat you like they want you to have a great experience and they want you to come back, vs getting you in and out.

      I stopped coming to this Hertz decades ago because I didn't like how their staff were treated. I can't tell you for sure how they are treated now, and I can tell you we have a friendly and efficient experience picking up our car.

      Shoutout to Vanessa at the front desk for her excellent service and response to my playful humor. We got everything we needed for a fun and safe trip!

      And to the gal up there cleaning cars and keeping the space safe, thank you as well!

      My only concern was that I couldn't extend my ride online or on the phone. That was very stressful. I brought it back a few short hours of a day late and I'm hoping I'm charged by the day and not the hour. Otherwise, my experience would be a 10!

      Do not rent a car from here!!! I was booked a rental at this location through an insurance claim and nearly a month later I got hit with over $500 deducted from my account. I distinctly remember speaking to the rental agent named Veronica about additional insurance that would be an additional $26 a day which I declined yet she decided to add it to my account anyway without my knowledge. Nearly a month later $500 is subtracted from my account without any warning. I looked up information about Hertz and apparently they do this to so many people. They add bogus charges to folks accounts and even have gotten people arrested after reporting their cars stolen! Unless you got money to throw down the drain rent a car from here at your own risk! The employees at the store robotic, and they do not budge and care about the fact that they are doing harm to people

      Got a rental through my insurance company after an accident. A week after turning in the car nearly $400 was missing from my account for $160 in tolls.

      The car I got from them was busted. I had to wait 4 days before they got a car. The office staff was disorganized and didn't communicate well with me or with each other.

      Abhorrent business practices. Joining on to a class action lawsuits.
