Talk about food coma --- my partner and I inhaled my favorite HK dishes. Enough to impress the owner to swing by and made a typical Cantonese remark. :))

The service was quick -- food was turned from the kitchen just as fast.

We ordered my usual comfort dishes --- wonton noodle soup with thick noodles, peppered fried tofu, onion pancakes, mapo tofu and soy sauces fried noodles.

WON TON NOODLES SOUP (4/5): A solid bowl of five juicy, meaty shrimp-pork wonton in a flavorful broth. This place is smart, a bit too "stingy" on the soup, since most customer cannot finish it.

MAPO TOFU (4/5): Classic dish but too much cornstarch so much thicker than normal.

SOY SAUCE FRIED NOODLES (3/5): You can taste the "wok heat", but over did it worth sweet sliced red onions that it took over the simplicity of the soy sauce noodles.

FRIED TOFU & GREEN ONION PANCAKES: Both were just perfect in its own ways.

My favorite SF hub continues to satisfy my cravings. Sure to be back!

Love the tea served in mule cup.

Nice spot in Chinatown for authentic Chinese food. This place made me feel like I was eating home made food. I would highly recommend the green onion pancakes - they were so fresh and crispy!!

The service was also really quick and the workers are very friendly. Additionally, the restaurant is very clean.

Walked in for lunch while exploring Chinatown. We were impressed with everything we had. The portions were big, the food was authentic, and the service was quick. Across the board the flavor was great (although be warned that they mean spicy when you order spicy). These were actually our favorite dumplings of 3 Chinese restaurants we stopped at on this trip.

This is no chain and this is NOT the location in the financial district. If you are looking for a low-key, authentic eating experience in Chinatown, we would highly recommend.

      1 check-in

Always solid for won ton yee mein (won ton noodle soup) and traditional Cantonese dishes, such as green onion pancakes, boiled dumplings, and whatnot.

Had no idea even the newer location was this popular, although the wait for a larger party wasn't too bad even at dinner.

Park at the Portsmouth Square Parking garage is barely a two minute walk away.

This is one if those places where the service sucks ass but the food is good. We went on a Saturday morning and the servers said they were very busy because their computer system was down. Took about 10 mins to get a menu after being sat and ever longer to successfully flag someone down to take our order. Some patrons would just grab their own menu from other empty tables.

Would def recommend getting the Sichuan Wontons and Chinese Donut wrapped in rice noodle.

I would definitely skip the wonton soup, the broth was kinda fishy compared to the chicken wonton broth I'm used to.

My partner came here for lunch and raved about the wonton noodle soup so a couple days later he had to take me cause I got FOMO.

The wonton wrapping was so thin and the filling was flavorful and plump. We got the wontons in the Beef Organ Noodle Soup variation. The noodles were thin and springy, the broth had a lot of depth with lots of flavor to it. The beef organs were solid too but the star was the wontons for sure.

We also ordered the beef brisket lo mein which came with the same egg noodle as the soup and was more like a dry version of the noodle soup than a lo mein. Came with a side of soup as well.

Food was great but service was terrible.

We came here for a Friday dinner and had to wait maybe about 20mins for a table.

      Service: 0/5
It was a full house, but there were 6 waitresses waiting tables.
-Had to flag down multiple waitresses for water
-My clay pot came after my bf was halfway done with his meal
-Had to ask multiple times for my bowl of rice
-Rice was served in a SCALDING hot bowl which burned our hands when we tried to hold it-- who eats their rice while holding the bowl, I guess???

Food was fine but the lacking service won't have us come back.

      Updated review

Came here second time. It was good while we were eating it there. However, I felt very thirsty after the meal. This is usually happens when I consume MSG...

Noodles were great with texture that's a little "crunchy" or on the firm side instead of soft noodles. This is not the soft noodles you would get from elsewhere normally. We ordered two soup dumplings, the skin was paper thin! Large amount of soup inside the dumplings which is pretty good compared to places I've tried, but as for the flavor of the actual meat inside, I've had better. Wontons were also great. I was a little disappointed after the meal due to my dry mouth... I hope next time I would be better.

I saw this recommended on KQED foods instagram with Chef Martin Yan and host Josh. I've always been entertained by Yan can cook reruns. So I braved the throngs of tourists and Giants fans and made my way to Chinatown.

There was a 25 minute wait at 2 pm. Yup. Popular.

We ordered the XLB, wun-ton noodle, scallion cakes and snow peas.

The snow peas was cooked just right. The wun ton noodles emanated shrimp shell stock and was very mouth watering savory. The crispy scallions cakes could have been rolled out better for flakiness, because it was a bit dense in the middle. One of the stars was the jumbo sized XLB. Well done.

The other star was Chef Yan. He had lunch at the table next to mine. We chatted and I mentioned that his instagram post brought me there. Epic dining experience! He sent me to AA bakery around the corner for egg tart as dessert.

The best wonton noodle in Bay Area!! Everything in this restaurant is sooo good, this is one of my fav restaurant in SF

This location has bigger and more modern space, and larger menu than the original location. Please expect some line during lunch time and during the weekend, but be patient, because you won't regret it!

      Must try:
      - Wonton/Wun-tun Noodle
      - Green Onion Pancake
      - Sichuan Spicy Wonton/Wun-Tun
      - Prawns & Pumpkin with Egg Yolk

Easiest Parking will be at Portsmouth Square Garage (https://maps.app.goo.gl/SBqZRPTHdwSuxzGN9?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy)
