Hot Dog Stand

Walked by on our way back to our hotel at Wedgewood and had to stop! Friendly and chatty Palestinian man! He showed us pict of his daughter, 2 sons and beautiful wife! Sounds like a hard working and good dad!! His beef was BOMB!! The grilled onions were grilled to perfection. He added on top of the perfectly diagonal scores on the hot dog that ended up melting into the scores! $6 folks!! $6!!!!! Plus the 5 diff sauces and plenty of add-ons to choose from (I stick w/ my usual ketchup, mustard, jalapeños & relish)!! Def will stop by again tonight since it's gonna be our last night here in Vancouver, BC.

This hot dog stand is a legend to me. Back in the day if I was feeling for a hot dog and was downtown I'd specifically head to this guy. He was the only one in the area that had the sweet corn sauce, which was absolutely delicious, and he'd take the time to grill some onions at no extra charge if you want. He used to be located in front of the old Virgin Records store, presently Victoria's Secret. I guess the VS clientele (ie women/girls who want to look like Gisele) aren't into hot dogs... Lol. Whatever the reason, the guy moved down the street and is now near Forever 21 and Sephora. He a really chill middle eastern guy who will chat if you like to chat and won't if you aren't into that. Thanks to the sweet corn and grilled onions, his dogs taste the best and are reasonably priced as well. Been getting hot dogs from him for a decade and will go back.

There is no name for this stand, however, it is iconic on the corner of Robson and Burrard that everyone who is a Downtown dweller knows the man and knows the stand that is there every day. I've seen him move to the Commodore late at night for all those filing out of the club in need of a bite before home. Reasonably priced hot dogs including vegetarian. Very friendly. I know that with gourmet foods trucks being the new pink something small like this can be forgotten, however, sometimes simple and cheap is where it's at.
