Went over at around 5 pm to get some dessert in the ferry building. Their menu is really helpful, all written out with what they have and indicates if a flavor is gluten free or nut free. There wasn't a line when we went so we ordered after we decided on which flavors to get.

Cornflake Crunch - Hadn't tried this one but I really enjoyed it. It had some crunchiness from the cornflake cookies and the milk ice cream was so creamy. It wasn't too sweet or heavy which made it so easy to finish and want more.

Some other flavors that I like are the Secret Breakfast and Honey Graham. My friend got the malted chocolate and she really enjoyed it with its rich chocolate flavor. I always find myself going back here for dessert and it is a definite ice cream staple.

We were in the mood for ice cream and were hanging out nearby on the Embarcadero, so into the Ferry Building we went. It was PACKED. Then again, you have to recognize that this is San Francisco, and the Ferry Building is a popular place for both tourists and non-tourists alike.

The line here at HSIC was long but not super long. By the time we got to the front, I'd estimate that we'd waited approx. 20 minutes. Bearable.

I had known about HSIC for quite a long time, but admittedly had never paid a visit to either this location or the other on Harrison. As such, I made it a point to ask the cashier what their signature flavor is. She immediately said it's the "Secret Breakfast". I ordered a scoop of it topped with extra Corn Flakes in a sugar cone. I don't remember the exact price, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $7-8. Definitely not cheap.

The ice cream was absolutely delicious. Had to eat it fast as it was a hot day, and it was dripping all over the place!

The one complaint I have is that the cones could be a little bigger. The ones they have, IMO, are a bit small.

Tried the chocolate dipped strawberry and the Vietnamese coffee. Both were pretty good.

Next time try the flash cold brew

After dinner at Hogs Oysters we walked thru the Embarcadero and found this place. It was so delicious and creamy and the corn flakes just adds that crunch element I always need. There a line (which shows they were worth waiting for) Service was good.

We ate our ice cream outside with the view of the bay bridge. Perfect way to end our night.

I want to give a big thanks to the patient team member who let me sample numerous flavors. Unfortunately, none of them stood out or felt special. Despite their creative names and ideas, the flavors were mid. In the end, I settled for chocolate because it was the best among the options.

Decided to try this Bay Area favorite for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. They have locations all over the Bay, and several in San Francisco. They even ship everything from pints to ice cream cakes across the country through Gold Belly (see their website), but beware of very steep prices.

Even though the Ferry Building location closes at 10pm, a lot of other shops there close around 4pm or 5pm, so if you want the whole Ferry Building experience, don't come too late.

Parking can be challenging on the weekends and lines can be long, especially if there are events nearby (e.g., Giants game). But it can be worth it for the beautiful views of the water and Bay Bridge right outside. Luckily we didn't have to wait long and the line moves quickly. Note that there are few places to sit down nearby so grab your ice cream and eat on the go.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Sample as many flavors as you'd like before you buy. They list all the available flavors for the day on the white board, with the top 6 sellers at the top such as Vietnamese Coffee and Secret Breakfast. They also have several boozy ice cream flavors which is unique.

Based on my limited sampling of their Honey Graham, Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple, and Secret Breakfast flavors, this ice cream runs on the sweeter, icier side. I have a sweet tooth and found them a tad too sweet.

The portion size for a scoop is very small relative to other popular ice cream places in the city - nice if you don't want to overindulge but also arguably not worth the $6+ price tag.

The Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple is a tasty classic. Very peanut butter-forward flavor. My friend got the Secret Breakfast which was unique, but I couldn't taste any of the booze in it. I ended up going with Honey Graham which had a nice flavor but was a little too sweet after a few bites. Also, there were barely any graham cracker chunks.

Overall, this place did quench my ice cream craving on a hot day when I happened to be in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

So glad I got to make a stop for ice cream while in the Ferry Building. I had never had Humphry Slocombe but had heard good things! I like their flavor combinations and ended up trying 2-3 different kinds. I think their breakfast flavor is a popular option, though a little too sickly sweet for my taste. I went with the horchata ice cream with crispy rice, which I think is a special flavor and not always on the menu.

The sampling is great but I think they might need one or two more staff members at this location to meet demand - though the staff I encountered was incredibly kind, courteous, and helpful. The wait was a little wild just to get a scoop of ice cream, though maybe it was the screaming children in line making the experience a little less bearable. Either way, this is a good stop for a sweet treat in the Ferry Building or elsewhere.

This place is on the level of salt and straw regarding the types of flavors. They're more bougie than your typical vanilla, chocolate, and rocky road. They're also more expensive. I got their secret breakfast flavor, which is cornflake cereal flavor essentially. I got one scoop in a cup and a coke. I paid around $9.

I did taste other flavors like their rosé flavor, which was on the sour side and another flavor which was floral and chocolatey, but it didn't wow me.

The only reason we came was because it was the closest ice cream spot to us and it was a hot day.

After many years of passing by this shop, I finally decided to stop by during my visit to the Ferry Building. BE WARNED: long lines form after lunch time! ...and yes, they give free samples :)

They have a rotating menu and feature 6 flavors each day. I tried a cup of the Cornflake Crunch this visit! Lots of texture and the ice cream actually doesn't have a ton of crunch. This tasted a lot like cornbread actually! Not too sweet. Pretty tasty and made with real ingredients.
