Hunan Restaurant

2022 Update - My husband and I still can't go out due to our situation, but I can guarantee you that whether or not you dine in or take out your food, Vanessa and Flora and their team lovingly put lots of effort into each item you order.

Every order always arrives hot and fresh from a delivery service and they pay attention to the special requests in the order. My husband always likes so change it up with different dishes but I stick to my Crispy Chicken with Jalapeno and Pork Fried rice with no soy sauce.

As you can see from the photos the portions are awesome, you can easily eat some at dinner and have some for breakfast.

If you dine in or take out there is parking in the back of the Restaurant. It's kind of a tight space to turn onto from Hesperian, so if you prefer, turn onto Hacienda, then onto Via Arriba, and then onto Quigley Road which really does not seem like one, but to each their own. Parking is easily accessible more that way.

Vanessa and Flora have upgraded their packaging for take out orders, it used to be the styro-foam packaging and now its more sturdy take out boxes which is much appreciated and makes reheating and serving more easy as the previous packaging was subject to wear and tear.

Still they have awesome food and great fast service from Door Dash so I appreciate them and their team for all the hard work they do to serve up delicious chinese food.

Decided to support local during this pandemic - I had no Idea Hunan was on DoorDash! Ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken and BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Vanessa, Flora and team continue to offer quick service! Even through the App!

It was delivered very quickly and hot and fresh! Special directions were carefully followed! (No Soy Sauce)

One thing I'd like to see on the menu is Crispy Jalapeno chicken. I looked all over on the menu and was bummed that I could not find it :( It needs to be added to DD :)

I'd like the thank Vanessa , Flora and Staff for continuing to work very hard at keeping Hunan open and the prices very affordable during this pandemic while serving excellent quality food.

You have not had Chinese until you have had Hunan!

Even though this Covid 19 situation has us still staying at home unless we have to go out for food or essentials, we are delighted that Vanessa and her staff works hard and keeps Hunan open for Takeout.

If you are wondering what's on the menu, attached to this review is the menu from the business. Please note that there are lunch break hours when the business is not open.

Vanessa and her staff continue to work hard and deliver quality food at great prices during this health predicament. To keep us all safe, she has created a safety distance for us when you walk in the door and will make sure your orders come out quick and efficiently.

Also just a heads up to regulars and new people wanting to order take out during the health crisis. She has locked the side door so if you have to go into the front door.

To make sure everyone is safe entering the front door and not to block the entrance toward the front door it is suggested to go down Hacienda, turn immediately on Via Arriba, and the parking lot is on the right, then enter the front.

Otherwise please watch out for pedestrians going to the front of the entrance if you're trying to turn from the street on Hesperian.

Please support local take out businesses Vanessa is open during the shelter in place for walk in and take out.

*2020 Update*

Vanessa and Flora continue to provide an exceptional experience at this restaurant. There are lots of choices to choose from and I see groups coming in here all the time to dine in. Maybe they came from work, maybe its a dinner night out for the family, it's perfect for all occasions. You can even call in advance if you know you're going to have a large group.

(Husband's favorites - well it varies from time to time but he does love the plum wine here as its a natural type of plum wine, not like the Takara or Plum Fu -Ki wines that are found at BevMo!)

*Payment Types*

Hunan accepts cash and will also accept credit cards. However they require that your minimum total is $20.

The building entrance is from the outside near the street but people go in the back way as the parking lot is in the back. (Some go into the front from the back though, just a little extra walking that's all)

Some thoughts about the parking lot (Not the fault of the owners)

*The entrance is narrow , be mindful of your speed going in here from Hesperian. Do not attempt to exit that way as there may be other cars trying to turn that way. Use the exit in the back to get back onto the street and onto Hesperian if that's the way you're going.

*Getting back onto the streets at night may be challenging from the parking lot, cars parked on the side of the road due to lack of actual parking spaces can create a blind spot so be careful turning left or right.

*OVERALL*

Hunan is just our favorite Chinese Restaurant hands down.

Just a small update to this review- if you're expecting to eat here, they will be closed Thanksgiving week!

I think it's time for an update on my review.... Since the last review...

Vanessa and Flora continue to deliver an exceptional dining experience with serving Chinese food and has not dropped on quality of all the times we've been going there.

I think my favorite all the time when I go there is the Crispy chicken with jalapeno and pork fried rice. And my husband, he likes something different.

The Tsing Tao beer is one of my favorites but my husband developed a new taste for their plum wine. Had a sip of his and it's awesome!

Did you know that you can reserve tables here for large groups ahead of time? Call to ask, you can do that!

One thing to remember, the parking is in the back. You can enter at the front of the store, or the back of the store. Just remember that during the day, they take a break for lunch before resuming service. I believe that time is 3pm to 4:30 pm. Call to confirm!

If you are paying by card, there is a $20 minimum for using your card, otherwise cash is king, and remember to tip because the service there is awesome.

A real gem in San Lorenzo!

Beer and Chinese Food :) We always get Hunan Pork, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Pork Fried Rice and it's served nice and hot. (Always freshly made to order). People who run this place are very friendly and has us coming back for more. And YES... I mentioned beer. They do serve that there as well.
