Hydrotech Radiant and Boiler

As good as they may be, I hope you don't need Hydrotech. Needing their services can only mean you have problems.

I've got problems, explaining why I've twice used the services of Hydrotech. The first time was to get a quote on replacing my home's boiler. The owner, Denis, was easy to reach, came out when he said he would, and was prompt in getting me a verbal and written quote for the job. His quote was neither the highest nor the lowest and I wound up going with another firm's bid.

More recently I hired Hydrotech to repair a leak in my radiant heat system. Scheduling took a little back and forth but once I was able to get an appointment they arrived on time and set out to do what was required.

When you schedule leak repair work you're told that Hydrotech won't proceed if there's asbestos (understandable, but who knows if they have it?). That's something to know and may factor into any decision of how you wish to proceed. (The other company I contacted never mentioned this at all and I'm not certain which is more concerning).

Anyhow, if you need a boiler replacement or repair or, God forbid, to fix a leak in your radiant heat system it's good to know of Hydrotech. Even though they're Hercules-based and I'm in Marin, this proved to be no issue on either occasion.

The people who work on all aspects of radiant heat systems are few and far between, some so booked up that they won't even put you on their already crammed schedule. Adding Hydrotech to your arsenal of solutions to whatever radiant heat problems are bound to dog you is a smart idea.

Two weeks ago, in the middle of December, Denis came by to look at our 22 year old water heater for our radiant heating system that was turned off recently. Yesterday afternoon, he brought the replacement, flushed the system, installed the new water heater and checked for leaks. Denis is very knowledgeable, efficient, and super friendly. We love working with him and cannot thank him enough for making our home warm again! He's our guy anytime we need an expert to fix our radiant heating system!!

We are in San Francisco, CA. Our water heater started to leak and we lost hot water. We needed replacement! Our heater also powers a radiant heating system - so not your basic setup.
I cannot recommend Hydrotech enough. It is so rare to have such professional and efficient interactions. Communication was easy from the minute I reached out (including on the 4th of July!). Quote process was smooth and Denis was patient with my questions. The actual replacement happened only a couple days later. Very nice job - not hesitating to rework some adjacent pipes that needed work. Had a few more questions / pipes in the radiant system that needed to be air drained and Denis came back a few days later and very graciously took care of it.

If I could give six stars I would. It's not easy to find people who specialize in older radiant heating systems. Denis was on time, fast, professional, and most importantly knew what the heck he was doing.

Excellent workmanship and personal service. Denis is a pro. Very happy with our new radiant boiler and tankless water heater.

Nothing wrong with being perhaps more old school and relying on referrals and such, but I am here to speak to the great job/service that I received from HydroTech with my radiant floor and radiators heating system. I think Denis is just too nice of a guy to ask a customer to post a review on Yelp, so that explains why HydroTech has no ratings until now.

Why HydroTech? Well, not only will you get a fully licensed specialist/expert in radiant heating and boiler systems (certified Boiler Contractors License C4), but you get the actual owner of the company working on your precious little system. No learning apprentice or part time handyman here, messing with your complex system. The guy eats and sleeps boiler and radiant heating systems.

Now, while he is based in Hercules technically, he services the entire Bay Area. Denis came out to my home in San Bruno on a Saturday no less. Denis was prompt and great to deal with. He diagnosed the problems I was having with my system, fixed it fairly quickly and in addition gave me recommended corrections that the original installer needs to correct.

Again, do not call Denis for regular plumbing stuff or air conditioning (Yelp categories are somewhat general and broad). He specializes in radiant heating and boiler systems, people!!!

I couldn't be happier with the service and attention that I've gotten on multiple occasions from Denis, the owner of Hydrotech. I had an existing combo water/radiant heating system at my home that was causing me many problems (Denis hadn't installed that system). From the first time I contacted him for repair assistance Denis responded quickly and was at my home within a day. He has always been friendly, explaining every option thoroughly. His service rates are fair.

There were a couple of other repairs necessary as the existing system continued to fail. Finally I decided that I needed to replace the system. Denis replaced the system in one day and he cleaned up the whole area in my garage where the unit is located. Once again, the cost was fair and he also offered a warranty on his services. I'm very happy with the outcome.

Denis is a true professional. He is also a friendly and very responsive businessman. I will be using Denis for any future maintenance needs I have on my heating system.
