The ultimate chill spot within Jack London Square and a wonderful place to take a stroll and to catch a nice sunset! The Jack London Square Marina is a great place to relax and to take in the views of the water. On a warm day, this area tends to remain nice and cool from the marina breeze. It can definitely get a bit windy at the end of the pier, but the sounds of the wind and calm water waves can be extremely peaceful.

The Bay Trail runs along the edge of the marina and is a nice place to enjoy a relaxing stroll. The views of the marina and docked boats are really pretty. There are also several benches around where you can sit and relax and a nice green space with lounge chairs for picnicking and recreational activities. If you're able to catch a sunset here, then you'll be in for a real treat. The sunset views are quite entrancing.

What's nice is that the marina never seems to be overwhelmingly crowded, so you can truly Re joy the scenery and peacefulness of it. Very grateful to have this local gem so close by.

The Jack London Square Marina is, obviously, right next to Jack London Square.

As far as Marina's go, this one is pretty nice. Usually when I come to Jack London Square, I go on one of the docks, which have multiple benches, and kick back and enjoy the scenery for a while. There's always boats, canoes, or some other type of vessel cruising through the Marina.

Sunsets here are good also, and taking a stroll along the Marina at that time is very relaxing, a great time to chill out here!!

Located in Oakland waterfront, this place is ideal for strolling, walking, running or biking. Or you can just relax by enjoying the waterfront view while watching people boating, kayaking or canoeing.

What I liked most about this place is that it's away from the hustle and bustle of the city this, rewarding you with feeling of calmness and serenity while immersing in the beauty of nature.

This marina is just within walking distance of the Amtrak train station and San Francisco Bay ferry system. Aside from the colorful waterfront area, you can explore shops, restaurants and local attractions, such as the bronze life-like statue of Jack London and a replica of the cabin he occupied in Yukon Territory.

I would like to revisit this place during their two popular events, the annual holiday tree lighting ceremony and annual lighted yacht parade.

After HH and a topper drink, we decided it was still too hot to go home yet. Since we are down by JLS, a pleasant stroll by the marina was nice.

A bit of sunset and a cooling breeze was perfect. A few other folks were hanging out. The last of the ferry commuters filed of the ship.

Found a bench to enjoy the great outdoors. Yeah, birds flying, ducks swimming, and rats with wings scavenging, we took it all in. I'm more of The Four Seasons type, however with the right company, it was relaxing.

Updated: Oops. I mentioned The Four Seasons and GF DMs a trip to the Las Vegas location.

The Jack London Square Marina is run by a larger entity called "Oakland Marinas", which has a separate Yelp page. I strongly recommend you check out the "Oakland Marinas" Yelp page as well.

Simply put, this is one of the worst marinas in the Bay Area, mainly due to the staff. The office staff is exceptionally rude to work with, especially the office manager, and definitely including the harbormaster.

The harbormaster, Brock, militantly enforces rules as they suit him, but also makes up new rules as those suit him as well. He's abrasive and difficult to deal with. I have never personally had a problem with him, but other boaters tell horror stories, so I've always avoided him. He made one of my female friends feel uncomfortable on her most recent visit. He is a lawsuit waiting to happen. He is at the marina 24/7 and keeps a sharp watch out to harass slip holders and their guests.

Security is a huge issue here. You are well-advised to chain up your outboards and always lock your boat. My buddy was mugged right outside the dock entrance gate by a gentleman who was sitting on a bench simply shopping patiently for a victim. This is the heart of Oakland ya'll.

The water tastes funny here; the marina staff concede that they can't figure out why.

There are an absurd number of extra fees, for example, a monthly $3.95 fee for permission to use the electrical, which itself is billed by usage.

There are random and lengthy utility outages. For example, the water was out for 4 days and the harbormaster would not explain why or provide a repair ETA. The electrical system is ridiculously maintained - there are exposed live wires everywhere.

Some of the docks are falling apart, swaying, and sagging. The unsteadiness of them in certain spots is annoying. I would not recommend this marina for anyone with ambulatory or dexterity issues. You should be very nimble.

The gas dock is frequently out of fuel. And the price is approximately 10% higher than what you will find anywhere else in the Bay Area.

Despite all that, the surrounding areas are fun. However, I would use this as your marina of last resort.

Nothing super special about this place, but it was a nice place to just sit and hang out for a bit. Lots of restaurants around.

Love this marina on the waterfront. Plenty of benches and tables and chairs nearby for you to just chill on. Ideal for walks, runs, biking, and dog walking too with the trail that goes around. There's also a lot of boats docked that you can see and even see some take off from the marina. One guy was working on his boat and climbed up the entire sail to reach the top of the pole. That was interesting and a little thrilling to watch. He was like an acrobat he was able to maneuver around the ropes and whatnot well!

Great place to get lost in your thoughts or not think at all! Be mindful that you're going to smell all the delicious restaurants along the way though. So if you're trying to be healthy while you run along the marina, I suggest you eat first.

I have never actually gone to the marina portion of the this marina. I have however used their facilities and for a public area in Oakland, this is the cleanest women's restroom you can ever use.

Their bathrooms are so clean its ridiculous. I have never seen them not clean. Even when they used to have 4th of July at Jack London Square the bathrooms were clean.

They have a great thing going and I hope they keep it up.

Beautiful marina area! A fun family spot to enjoy the beautiful views of the boats and the water while you stroll the walkway. The free green line bus makes frequent stops here about every 10-15 minutes, which is a bonus for those of us who like to travel without renting a car.

A lot of delicious places to eat nearby! Nothing more spectacular than a delicious lunch or dinner with a beautiful view. Bring the family for a wonderful day! Nearby bowling, hotel (for those visitors) and also a nearby water ferry to/from San Francisco!

Great place to visit at least once! I definitely give this place. A thumbs up! My only regret is that I could not stay here longer. Can get a bit chilly at night with the breeze from the ocean so bring a jacket or later up!

      Wow!! This takes me back.

I used to go to Jack London Square all the time when I was younger. I lived in Alameda, and as a family it was my moms go-to place to take us all when we needed something to do.

Its a beautiful area on the water with shops and restaurants. I remember we would always go to El Torito to eat where I could take advantage of great kids meals. Haha. There was also this small shop with a lot of African style merchandise that my mom liked.

Im not sure what it looks like now, but when I used to go there were a few homeless people around the area that would ask for money while you're trying to walk around. Nothing to crazy though.

Its just a nice place to spend the day.
