Convenient cruise ship terminal. We were dropped off, bags to the porters, checked in upstairs, and on board for the first of many buffets by 12:30pm. Less than an hour process....
Really expedited process and who doesn't like sailing under the iconic GGB and out SF Bay. Sleek, modern looking terminal. Traffic for loading and unloading is efficient as they hold cars outside on Embarcadero until all the cars in the drop off and pick up area are cleared and ready for the next group.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jul 23, 20241 check-in
Pier27, I was a little skeptical about you. I mean your terminal is super small from the outside. Even the drop-off / pickup area is smaller than any airport I know.
But you know what? It works and it works pretty well. Not 100 percent well, but if you're lucky enough to have an early boarding for your cruise ship you will have no problems like us. It was smooth sailing literally.
We had friends who came 20 minutes later and ended up waiting in the heat for an hour. So early is the key to check in. Don't forget to have your passports and your boarding passes ready as well as empty water bottles.
After Check in, the boarding distance is short. When you return and if you checked your bags there is an area for pickup. We didn't check our bags and had no problems.
The only thing here I had a slight problem with is the lack of porters. Took me about 30 minutes to track one down when embarking. Again, I can see how this would be worse if you had a later check in.
But kudos, this was such a pleasant experience!Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 3, 2019
Very clean facility with super friendly and helpful employees. The Princess employees at checkin seemed just as excited as us about the cruise we were about to embark on. The whole process was quick and painless.
Parking options nearby are very expensive; use SpotHero or similar app to find better deals. I found parking for our two week cruise just under a mile away from the cruise terminal in a nice parking garage for $240.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dec 11, 2018
Nice newer terminal building, conveniently located to all the waterfront spots in the city, walking distance to Fishman's Wharf, Alcatraz Cruises and an easy spot to get a rideshare or scooter to start your adventures in the city.
Stopped here on a Princess California costal cruise and spent the day in the city. Exit from the ship was quick and easy, and return to the ship though security was fast and painless.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 2015
Princess uses this terminal in SFO. It's a nice and clean building. But a small space for dropping off and picking up. It lacks organization of where private cars, taxis and large vans should park during loading and unloading periods. There is a mixture of polite and rude Princess employees and porters. Luckily I encountered the good ones coming and going. The terminal seems to have a problem with some if it's long shore men that I hope they fix before the next sailing
On a rainy day there isn't much protection from the elements- have an umbrella ready.
There isn't much seating inside but they do seem to check you in efficiently and boarding is quicker
Leaving is still a little obstacle course trying to find your bags in the coded areas that aren't well marked. Thank heavens for obvious luggage.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Oct 6, 2014First to Review
JRH Cruise Terminal is nestled right on the waterfront so those arriving get a very pleasant view of the Bay and the Embarcadero. But for those who have to brave the traffic to get here to pick up/drop off guests, it actually is more convenient than it looks. There is a quick right turn off from the Embarcadero that will drop you off right in front of the terminal and upon leaving, there are two officers staged at the gate to help you navigate out (as there is no traffic signals to stop oncoming traffic).
For routine foot travelers, the terminal actually features a lush grassy area and several benches making it a nice spot for an outdoor lunch. It's also a pretty sight when there is an actual cruise boat docked.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Douglas F.Highlands Ranch, CO1490871403Apr 16, 2016
Clean terminal and nice people. We were on Princess "Grand Princess". The terminal is small and the drop off and pickup area is small. So take LYFT or UBER and get dropped off or picked up on the Embarcadero. Enjoy your cruise!

Very nice terminal. Clean and well lit. We were dropped of from a bus, right in the parking lot across the street from the terminal. Our bags were taken right from the bus to the ship. We just had to walk across the street and into the building, up the escalator and then wait a bit for our turn to check in. Very easy. After check-in, we walked right into the ship.
