Service Requested: Control Arms, Stabilizers and Oil Change

Quality: 5 Mics - Honest and great service. I've passed by this Auto shop for years. They do quality work. They let you know what needs to get fixed and tell you how to get it done. Darion was very helpful, I did not expect to keep my car overnight or even through the weekend but Darion helped get my car done. I will update in a few months. I'm also having them work on my timing belt. Next month.

Value: 5 Mics - The value for the attention to detail and honesty is unparalleled and beyond my expectation.

Get your vehicle repaired here. They are booked up a month ahead of time. Be prepared, you may have to leave your vehicle, they will not disappoint. If you are looking for transparency, look no further.

I've owned Hondas for 34 years, and this is the first time I decided to try a shop that wasn't a dealer. Not that I was displeased with the dealer service, but none are nearby, so I thought I'd look around for a neighborhood shop with a good reputation. That brought me to Yelp! where I found Japanese Service Center 2. I must have driven past this place a thousand times, but never thought to give them a try. The overwhelming glowing reviews here gave me the push I needed.

Suffice it to say I was not disappointed. I was able to get an appointment for scheduled maintenance just a few days after contacting them, and I was pleased that I was allowed to drop off my car at a time that was convenient for me (in other words, not at 8am). The work was done quickly and I was advised what service was performed, and that no problems were found. I give them bonus points for resetting the "maintenance reminder" indicator, which some shops have failed to do in the past.

In short, I was very impressed and will definitely be back!

I was very impressed with this shop. It was just what I was looking for. I like a smaller shop where I can speak directly with the owner and/or mechanic(s), not a secretary who may inadvertently forget to relay pertinent information. I also feel like the price was very reasonable.

We moved from the San Francisco area and were overjoyed to find a reliable and affordable place to take care of our Prius. They have done an excellent job maintaining and repairing our Prius, Lexus, and now our Sienna van.

Thank goodness for honest and trustworthy care repair service.

Our "new to us" van is now serviced by Japanese Service Center II.

The shop worked on our car. They were supposed to replace the timing belt, replace the water pump, adjust the valves, and replace the radiator. They returned the car after two days with some strangely really negative things to say on the debrief. It makes sense now. We found that it dropped a valve after less than two hours of operating time. The valve was broken and stuck in the head. We didn't hear anything indicating severe failure, only valve tapping. However, the vavle did hit the piston at least twice. They blamed the failure on a whole host of unrelated issues, including blaming my son for over revving the engine. Nonsense. The car has a functioning rev limiter. The valve likely broke because they over adjusted it or damaged the valve when they reinstalled the rocker assembly. They said that the took the rocker assembly off due to oil leaks. I don't believe it, am skeptical. I think that they damaged the valve and then rigged it to fail down the road, so they could blame somebody else. Hence, disassembly of the rocker assembly. That's what I think, as a Professional Agricultural Engineer (e.g. John Deere). So, we had to fix the problem that I think they caused. They didn't seemed surprised that we returned. They were ready. Beware.

I had them recently do pre purchase inspection of a Lexus LS 430. They are one of the best independent mechanics in Sacramento. As usual the service was excellent.

      Updated review

I still think this shop is good overall, but they often refuse to do work on older cars. For instance, one of our older cars needed new brakes and they simply would not do it. I can only assume they don't want to deal with rust issues which can be a pain. But being a service shop you would think brakes are a no brainer. We went elsewhere.

Another time, I took in my new car. Initially, they said I should change my transmission fluid but I could wait until later. I put it off and called months later to see if they can service my transmission. To my surprise, they said they don't do it on newer Subarus, which was completely opposite of what I was initially told.

It's just kind of a strange "service" shop because they will do some work but yet won't do other jobs. It's their right and I don't really hold it against them, but they should just be more honest and consistent about what work they do and what they don't do. I also think they play favorites to certain customers. If you're a new customer, just be aware that you may experience inconsistencies in what they offer and why. It changes constantly.

They have new ownership. So things have changed. It's still a good shop overall. I'll update as we have more big jobs completed.

My 23 year old car was leaking a large amount of fluid that I couldn't quite pinpoint, so I called Chuck who responded right away via Yelp. He was able to get me in and his mechanic put the car on a lift and inspected it. They showed me each of the leaks, as well as other issues they noticed, and advised me not to drive the car and to ultimately get rid of it since the repairs would cost more than the car is worth. They didn't even charge me for the diagnosis. I really appreciate the honesty and friendliness and would come back to this shop for any future car issues. As for my poor Avalon, it's going to kars4kids after serving me well for 23 years. Thanks again Chuck and staff.

This place is extremely expensive and the customer service is not great. Especially, if you are a woman going alone. Rude and charge so much for hourly service. Will never go again.
