Jim's Repair Service

I had a microwave break, and I called around to a few places which gave me high quotes for even a diagnostic. Jim was the only one who asked questions beforehand, and gave me very good reasons as to why I'd be better off just getting an new microwave instead of wasting my money on a costly repair that likely wouldn't last long anyway. Appreciate the honesty and helpfulness! Next time I have something break, I'm definitely calling Jim.

I chose Jim because he was the closest to the house and seemed like a well rated local small business. He personally answered the phone, asked some good qualifying questions to determine that I really needed his help, and then was on site in a matter of hours.

It wasn't clear exactly what was wrong with the dryer but he quickly narrowed it down to a few possibilities before doing an electrical continuity test. Then he had the exact part required to fix the dryer on him. Finally he helped clean up the lint that was all over the inside of the machine and wrapped up the job.

I really appreciated the ease with which he correctly diagnosed the issue and his preparation of having the correct parts with him. All of his tools and parts were efficiently squared away on his motorcycle. He also shared his experience in a friendly way.... why clean up a machine if you don't know if it is repairable yet!

I hope I can get by without more service from Jim but if I do I know who I will call.

I had to pinch myself, because who, after making a call for service would expect that the person answering the phone would be there in under an hour, on a Saturday yet! Jim is very professional, no nonsense and has a wealth of knowledge. He was able to fix my dryer in an hour and a half. Great guy to talk to as well! You can't go wrong here!

Jim brought a conversation with discrimination and politics. I told him I'd rather not go there. He insisted on carrying on.

He never mentioned before arriving that he only accepted cash and check

He needed me to help him look things up on google while he was at my home to help him get information about my machine. He was unable to fix the issue

I accidentally wrote a check from an old checkbook. He sent a text message about the issue. I responded saying this was an accident, please send me your address and I'll send a check immediately... no response.

From a different phone number than his business He called 4x in a day both before 7am and at 8pm. When I finally answered the call he had a rude tone and assumed that I was avoiding him. He said he doesn't respond to text messages and that he had asked me to call him. Yet his initial text message did not say this.

I sent him a check even though he doesn't deserve a dime

Jim was great! He was fast and knew what he was doing and fixed my Dryer in no time!

What a nice man. Jim unfortunately doesn't service my zip code, but he was willing to do a free consult and offered advice to help me fix my appliance error without needing to pay for a repair person. He is the type of provider I'd love to hire given his clear knowledge of Appliances and I would recommend to those within his service area.

All the 5-star ratings for Jim are as they should be, when you get your problem fixed. However, those who are told they need to replace their appliance are less likely to post any rating as they just pay the fee for visit dispose of old appliance and buy a new one.

So if you are okay with "why fix when you can buy new" philosophy, then Jim might be right for you.

However, I was not ready to spend that much to replace so I paid another appliance repair company to diagnosis fee and had my appliance repaired for under $200.

Jim told me I needed to replace my appliance which would've cost me well over $2,000, rather than being honest and telling me he didn't have the right equipment (because it likely wouldn't fit on his motorcycle, or perhaps wasn't licensed to do the repair that was needed.
