Joe P.
Established in 1975 by Joe Pozzuoli, originally of Naples, Italy - the birthplace of pizza, Joe's Pizza is a Greenwich Village institution offering the classic New York slice for over 48 years. A perennial top 10 listing in restaurant guides and publications, we serve the best slice in the city. New York Magazine names Joe's Pizza "Best of New York" and in subsequent reviews has referred to us as "the quintessential New York slice." In 2009, GQ Magazine listed us as one of the "Best 25 Pizzas on Earth." Throughout the years, our Greenwich Village location has become just as popular with tourists and visitors as it is with native New Yorkers who know where to come for an authentic New York street slice of pizza. After 40 years, we remain an independently owned and operated business, personally supervised by Joe himself. We are still what we've always been: a classic NY slice joint. No glossy corporate backing, no fancy pants pies, no pretensions nonsense, and no gimmicky budget pizza. We are tried and true; the real deal. Try us for the best NY slice around.

Coming to NY?? Go to Joe's Pizza it won't disappoint & I guarantee you will crave it after and for day. Such a simple concept but oh so good in so many different ways. The sauce, the dough the crispness & freshness is what won me over and I love a good pizza and this was it. Believe the hype. When we came in it wasn't too full but I felt every couple minutes people came in and out. There is limited seating inside but there is some outside as well or people just take it to go.
Love the olds school vibes here and all the pictures in the wall of famous people that have been there. The customer service was quick and the guys here are so hardworking & chill. Love the experience here and can't wait to come back. Already craving it!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 14, 2024
You can't come to NYC and not try at least a few different kinds of pizza.
We were in the area anyway and noticed Joe's Pizza, and even though we'd just eaten a huge sandwich at Katz's, we popped in to share a slice.
We got the plain cheese, as that seemed like the quintessential New York thing to do.
After a few minutes in the oven, it was ready. It's a good slice of 'za. The flavorful cheese and sweet (but not too sweet) sauce are really tasty, and the crispy crust is good but I'll admit I did find it a little too crispy. Maybe it was reheated for a little too long?
At any rate, I can't really complain because it really was delicious. Just not life changing delicious.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 30, 20241 check-in

We ordered Cheese, pepperoni & fresh mozzarella.
All of them aresuper yummy with perfect crust.

Joe's Pizza is iconic because it's featured in Spider-Man. This is the exact location where Peter Parker was a delivery boy for. I finally came to try a slice for myself and luckily came with no line at all. We got a Pepperoni Slice ($5) and Cheese Slice ($4), which was given to us right away.
The pizza tastes fresh from the marinara sauce, but pizza is pretty standard. I can't say I'd go out of my way to come here, but if I'm craving a slice and in the neighborhood --why not? Although, we've got so many pizza options around.
Note: Cash only!Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1 - 86113531353Jul 30, 20241 check-in
Joe's is definitely a NYC institution of pizza where you take all your out of town visitors. It's where Peter Parker aka Spiderman works or used to work (he did get fired in the movie haha). It's the typical NYC style pizza slice, foldable and thin. The line may look long and the place may look crowded but the line moves fast. Most people eat their slice at the counter and leave so the crowds come in waves. I like the pepperoni slice with all the seasonings. It's definitely the comfort food of New Yorkers. I always enjoy a pepperoni slice in the summer and it makes me happy to live here haha.

The place had a quintessential New York vibe--bustling, a bit crowded, and with that distinct pizzeria smell. We ordered some pizza slices, eager to see what makes Joe's so famous.
Food: Cheese pizza, veggie, kale & spinach, pepperoni pizza slices. The veggie and classic cheese pizza were good. Remaining all were average. To be honest, I have had better pizza's elsewhere. It was a disappointment for us since we heard so much about it and had to plan to eat here. It was like any other pizza place. Not worth the "You have to try this" kind of place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 342821438Jul 22, 20241 check-in

So I wanted a GOOD slice of pizza. This place was featured in 2002's "Spider Man" where Peter Parker was the delivery boy. When venturing out in NY, generally I want a place that is crowded and that has a good vibe. But pizza is different - I just care that it is excellent. There are many pictures on the wall of famous people here but not when we went. Just a long line to get the pizza - so that is what we did. One plain and one with pepperoni - and well worth it. Got a seat at one of the counters. And enjoyed my slice with a little seasoning of red pepper! Just the way I like it. If you're in the village you should go here. The place could use a little pick me up so maybe it's time to do that. Give it a shot when looking for good pizza!

My favorite slice in the city! There are some tables and chairs inside, along with a few tables outside.
A slice of pepperoni is now $5. They made a huge improvement to the cheese and red pepper containers so that one can keep it moving versus trying to fight for five minutes to get two flecks of cheese and pepper on their pizza!
There are other locations but this is the iconic location for me. (Also, the line at the Times Square location was insane.)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
