JV Gardening & Landscaping

This is a new review, pertaining to the work JV did for us in June, 2024.

We hired JV Fencing to build a 250 foot all-redwood fence on a sloped lot. Because the fence is on a hillside, they built a retaining wall at the bottom of the fence. Dirt from our neighbors' uphill gardens piled against the bottom of our previous fence caused it to rot, and this new design will prolong the life of the new fence.

Juan and Michael were available soon after we first called them for an estimate, and had options and costs outlined for us soon after their site visit. They were realistic in estimating costs. They do not cut corners in the quality of their fences. When they say they will dig a four-foot post hole, they mean 4 feet. Jose, their on-site foreman, knows his stuff, works hard, and was always available to answer questions and make adjustments. He was excellent at providing options for unanticipated problems in building the fence. The work crew worked as hard as I've ever seen anybody work, no exaggeration. Our finished fence is really beautiful and solid, and I expect it will outlive me and my wife. The 3 different neighbors who share our lot lines are also happy with the fence.

JV gardening was great to work with. Michael and Juan were responsive to planning, projected the price of the project well and promptly informed of changes as they were discovered. The very long wood retaining wall we had built looks great, has proper drainage, and helps limit the erosion. Furthermore they were able to safely weed the property, removing invasive ivy and poison oak. None has grown back since so their team did a great job. We were really happy and would work with them again.

Juan Michael and his Crew (Jose, Dionicio, Adelmo and many others great people) finished our whole yard remodel in the past year (two times, last sprint and this spring). Our front yard, back yard and side yard are completely changed and upgraded now. Pictures showed their great results. The work include:

Juan, Michael and the rest of the team were amazing! After buying our home, we hired JV to remodel the backyard, which included removing a bocce court, tons of dirt and stones, creating a playground space and building a play structure for our kids, putting in a retaining wall, putting in a sprinkler system and laying down grass. They did an absolutely amazing job, going above and beyond what we expected. Juan and Michael offered very reasonable and transparent prices, were extremely helpful in giving us ideas and on options to help us design the perfect yard for our needs, and were in constant communication updating us from start to finish on the project. Best of all, they were able to not only start the project right away, they finished the project on schedule! We are thrilled with how our backyard turned out and we would recommend JV Gardening & Landscaping to anyone looking for an awesome company to meet their landscaping needs.

We had the team install decomposed granite, artificial turf, tiles and greenery in our backyard. Additionally, they installed drainage, low voltage lighting and even helped us assemble a fountain and hang some lights. They were flexible with schedule and budget and managed to transform our little side and backyard into an oasis that we love to be in. And...as a follow-up I had a (self inflicted) issue with our automatic watering system almost 2 years after everything was done and Juan happily sent someone over same day to take a look.

Juan, Michael, and the rest of the crew were great from start to finish. We were looking to remove a paved walk way and a concrete slab and install a paver patio, a pea gravel garden, and a new lawn. Michael came out to provide a quote and, once signed, they quickly scheduled the project. The team was incredibly efficient, helpful, and communicative throughout the whole process. We are super happy with the finished product and would work with them again on future landscaping projects. Great people and fantastic work!

I have a fairly large backyard and front yard that was in need of landscaping but my wife and I didn't have a clear vision for what our landscaping should look like. We did know that we needed asphalt to be demo'd in the backyard and to create pathways in our front yard. So I contacted several landscaping and gardening services in the East Bay. The others I contacted couldn't articulate a clear vision for what we should do, so I eventually contacted Juan at JV Gardening & Landscaping. Juan and his project manager, Michael, came over to look at our property and provide some conceptual ideas. Their vision aligned with ours so we hired JV to create a rendering of the landscaping.

Once we agreed on the details, the crew started work several days later and spent 3.5 weeks working 6 days a week from 7:30 am to 5 pm. I gained a whole new level of respect for Juan's crew because landscaping work does not look easy! These guys work hard for their money. I'm sure that I'm not the easiest client as I ask a lot of questions, sometimes the same ones again and again but Juan & Michael always responded promptly. Excellent customer service.

My wife and I are happy with the final results. The important thing is that my kids now have a backyard that is safe to play in and create a lifetime of memories.

I had to modify my backyard and front yard and plant some more stuffs when I moved in. Also needed to re-soil and put a new handrail in backyard and cleaned up my rock wall and redesigned the sprinkler system.

Juan and Michael were awesome. They came quick for an estimate, could start the job right away and then they were professional and responsive in doing the work.

We hired Juan and his crew to design and build a flagstone patio for our home. This was a fairly large job and Juan's team was well organized and made the construction as quiet and efficient as possible.

Initially, Juan suggested we meet him at the flagstone supply yard to pick the color and style of flagstones that we liked. This was very helpful! After selecting the stone Juan's team spent several days prepping the area prior to laying down the flagstone patio. They took their time to do it right and we appreciate their attention to detail. Most importantly the final result was exactly what we wanted.

Just a great company! Extremely easy to work with and very flexible. They are professional at every step of the job. We will continue to use them to complete our projects.
