Happiness is eating pineapple fried rice out of a pineapple!
And that's exactly what I did last Friday night when I met my friend there for a much-needed GNO Walnut Creek to catch up, talk about our lives, families, work, & everything else.
Great ambience here. Friendly, modern, clean, fast service, delicious food! I LOVE THAI FOOD & it's one of my favorite categories & this place is a solid standby that I like to for meeting friends, date nights, & I even had a birthday celebration here years ago. There is a nice, long table in the back to do that.
This place has never disappointed me. Except for when they run out of the dessert that I want!
PRO YELP TIP: PARKING is avail at the PARKING GARAGE just right next to the restaurant. Drive around about half the block, there's an entrance there, park, and you can walk out to the street right next to the restaurant & enter. Love that parking here is so easy! Had to park on the top floor on this busy Friday night, but I found parking, no less.
Had reservations for 7:00 & our table was ready. My friend Melis was already there waiting for me, quaffing some lovely-presented girly fou-fou drink called a Mango Tropicana. See pic - it looked amazing. I went with my standby of Thai Iced Tea just because I love them so much & it hit the spot for this thirsty gal who sat in a lot of Friday night traffic on 680 to get here.
Usually I order the hold standard favorites that I like to eat with my hubby like pad thai, yellow curry, and those Thai faves. I really like that my friend M is adventurous enough to try different things. So we did & enjoyed. I'll name my two favorites from our meal first.
~ FAVORITE: PINEAPPLE FRIED RICE $16 - PRESENTED IN A PINEAPPLE! You can't go wrong with this one. Moist, flavorful, comes in a pineapple. I mean, how can you not like that? The pineapple pieces are grilled. I could've ate almost this whole thing by myself! Haha..but I didn't 'cause I'm a lady. ;) I've wanted to order this for a while now, but didn't because it seemed so decadent just for rice but you know...sometimes you just gotta LIVE A LITTLE! Get this, be the tropical cuisine patron I know you can be!
~ FAVORITE: TOM KHA SOUP $13 - A house special FAMILY RECIPE. DEFINITELY GET THIS. Besides the pineapple fried rice, this was my standout favorite of the night. SO GOOD. Very flavorful with tastes that meld together that I can only describe as THAI SOUP EUPHORIA. It is a Thai coconut soup, not spicy. We chose vegetarian, no meat. SERVED BUBBLING IN THOSE AWESOME, METAL THAI SOUP BOWLS!
~ FRIED CALAMARI $10 - Fresh, NOT FROZEN and you can taste that because it's not overtly chewy. Served alongside a little dish of plum sauce. Good stuff, I enjoy their calamari.
~ ROTI and CURRY $7- Your choice of sauce (Yellow, Green or Red). We chose yellow. Roti is OK, it's not easy to cook these well. The SAUCE is yummy good. I used the sauce to put over my other food...like the pineapple fried rice!
~ SEA BASS $26 - Tender, moist, flaky in a good way. Cooked simply. The healthy choice if you're looking for one. Portion is OK, could me a bit more portion for the price. I did like it, though.
~ EXOTIC BOMBA - A solid, fruity sorbet in a ball "bomba" shaped presentation. Let it melt a bit and it gets creamy. Good dessert to share.
All this dinner came to about a little over $100 with tax. My friend surprised me by treating me - nice! Attentive, friendly service. Clean restrooms. Kacha Thai is definitely a Thai standby in Walnut Creek that I will go to over and over again! Check it out & order that pineapple fried rice for yourself!Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0 - Aug 24, 2024
This was my go-to for years. I live the pineapple "the Lover" fried rice. I had huge party of people/meet up here. The staples (papaya salad, Tom yum soup, etc) are no brainers. There's more Thai restaurants around now so it's a bit harder to come here and eat as often.
I would say that there's nothing that you might not like with this thai place. Give it a try - there's free 4 hour parking that is shared with the movie theater. EnjoyHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Christina T.San Jose, CA442162330Jun 5, 2024
I came here with my co workers around 11:30pm. It wasn't busy at all. There was only 1 server working the bar and assisting the tables. It took a while before we could place our order. The Thai food was okay, not the best.
Thai tea 2/5- tea was not strong and was missing something. It wasn't as creamy too.
Roti with green curry 2/5- not the best, had better and fresher elsewhere. The curry wasn't as tasty and very watery.
Chicken yellow curry 2/5- yellow curry was a disappointment. They used drumsticks and shredded the chicken. It dis not taste fresh and probably recooked as the chicken meat was all shredded up.
Chicken pad see ew 3/5- This was okay, not as flavorful and the noodle they used were thinner. I prefer the fatter noodles.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joel A.Walnut Creek, CA34891Apr 14, 2024
This place leaves a lot to be desired. The ambiance is nice, but the flavor is definitely lacking. Most other Thai restaurants taste better and are a whole lot cheaper.
Having recently returned from Thailand, I was craving some pad kra pao and was completely disappointed in my dish. Definitely not authentic and may be the worst pad kra pao I've ever had.
That being said, the food isn't bad, but if you're familiar with Thai food, it isn't good, especially for the hefty prices they charge. They do a great job at making the food look good, but it doesn't taste as good as it appears.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 12, 2024
Got the Ped Yang -- duck with jasmine rice and salad. It was okay for $20, but the duck skin was overcooked and burnt so half the duck was inedible. Rice was good but didn't have the typical aromatic taste. Great place with lots of parking around though otherwise. The inside is classy but laidback.

Came for lunch with family and had the papaya salad and the pad see ew. Very yummy. Portions seemed fair for the price. Service was responsive and friendly. Would definitely come again.

I came here for my birthday dinner with my family. We got the usuals, the ladyfingers, pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, and pumpkin curry (the squash unfortunately wasn't cooked thoroughly again). For dessert we ordered the mango with sticky rice and the fried bananas with ice cream, and the staff sang happy birthday to me.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Jan 29, 2024Previous reviewMy boyfriend and his family brought me here for dinner on a Sunday night and it was moderately busy. For appetizers we ordered the Ahi Tuna Larb, ladyfingers, and my personal favorite, the Tom Yum soup. I will say, I wish the Tom yum soup was more sour, and had more mushroom. The ahi tuna larb was alright, not the best, and the ladyfingers were nice and crispy long egg rolls. For entrees we got the pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, and pumpkin curry. The pumpkin curry was served in a Kabocha squash for display, but the inside still had a lot of squash (check my picture, they barely scooped the inside out). It was undercooked and hard, so we asked for the kitchen to cook it a little longer to soften it, but it wasn't much softer after they brought it back. I did not want to waste, so I ended up taking the squash home to cook more. The pad Thai was average as well, but I will say that portions were pretty good.

Maybe we ordered the wrong thing. I thought it was just kind of good. We got the pad see ew and that was ok, nothing too special. And we got the cashew chicken. I had high hopes for this one because the menu description sounded delicious. Upon arrival it was stir fried pieces of fried chicken tossed in sauce with baby corn and king oyster mushrooms. If it was plain chicken and not fried I would have enjoyed this dish a lot more. The flavor was good though. For appetizers, the roti with curry dipping sauce was ok. The chicken satay skewers were great and tender. The beef skewers were good. Both had a peanut sauce. Thai ice tea was good.
The atmosphere is nice and modern. The attached parking garage is free for 4 hours for customers.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Oct 28, 2023
We felt like having Thai for lunch and our NP suggested Kacha Thai Bistro. Though I hadn't tried it, I heard great things from folks on Nextdoor. I got the pumpkin curry with shrimp and a side of brown rice. Super tasty and filing! The rice absorbed the flavor of the curry quite nicely. I ordered it mild, which was perfect. It had a slight kick but was not overly spicy. Can't comment on the service or ambiance but hopefully it's as good as the food. The menu is quite extensive so I can't wait to try more items in the future!

How adorable is is vegan bistro! The curry that comes in a pumpkin is a must the sauce on this is so heavenly in pairs, well with all the other dishes. The fried eggplant and tofu, are a must and you can even dip it in the curry! The Vegan Spring are just OK I would recommend getting some sort of protein!
