      1 check-in

The pharmacy is on the ground floor, on your left if you are entering from the main, northern entrance (to your right if you are entering from the garage entrance).

      Pros:

Right off of the Hickey Boulevard exit
30 minute parallel parking along the northern entrance
Lots of handicapped parking by the northern entrance
Fast and efficient service; the quality of care is very satisfactory
The type of care is what you expect: it's a pharmacy, and you can order medication ahead of time and have a family pick it up (with your name, medical record number, birthday, and address)

      Cons:
Northern entrance parking exit is a cluster: you're stuck at a stop sign while cross traffic in both direction is not, and people come whipping around the corner, giving you about half a second to respond. I'm no traffic engineer, but Kaiser, please consider adding stop signs at this exit intersection!

Nice Kaiser Medical Offices on Hickey Blvd near I-280 in Daly City. I'm a longtime Kaiser member, but have never been here as a patient. My job sends me here on occasion on business. I really appreciate the service area you set aside for vendors and service people to park. However, my complaint is with whoever designed the layout of the complex with only ONE driveway. That one driveway is single lane in and out. Late afternoon, when employees start to go home, big line waiting to exit the complex.

      Could of been designed better.

I called in twice prior to inform i was having orthostatic issues & need recumbency often as a precursor for my visit.
i was in waiting room for half hour & very symptomatic (, presyncope, etc)
Due to orthostatic intolerance during eye exam my 1st exam was terrible.
glasses arrived & were far too strong & made me dizzy.
Am forced to return & the next doc was great, but he reaches a medium rx to not insult his colleague & finds no astigmatism.

I couldn't see anything w first exam, so light headed i forgot to take off my rx glasses during test to decipher clarity. I was perplexed as to why- i cant see any of it. He plowed over me vocalizing.
Then I realized - oof- i am still wearing my glasses!
      I was then yelled at
bc this optometrist told me i wasn't wearing them.
      I was!
western med is full of sexist , & patriarchal narcissistic egomaniacs.

Some staff of course is great, access to appts is wonderful. Email communication is also great

Sadly Kaiser is 100% clueless as to patient experience & effects of forcing patient upright for extended periods
During fitting i tried to explain the blood flow isn't reaching my brain
& he busted out in a huge laugh.
I do sincerely believe he assumed it was a joke.

Kaiser does NOT educate staff on Dysautonomia & not all disabilities are "visible?"
i guess they aren't seeing a mobility device either.
What about a clear diagnosis on chart?
Another person fitting my glasses was wonderful.

But check out the lack of staff education.

I am working my way into the disabled stall on 5th floor & am the only person in restroom.
      4 empty stalls.
A staff member plowed past me- & used disabled stall
i could not fit my mobility device into the others.

I called her on it as she left- her reply was "so"
How ignorant & clueless can medical staff be?
Do I need to educate medical staff?
Why is this a patient's job?
I put in a comment each year & it doesn't change in any dept in any of the SF or DC kaiser buildings

i understand unconsciousness in the real world-
Able bodies choose the disabled stall in an otherwise completely empty bathroom w a wheelchair or walker user present.

Staff in the other buildings is always rushing too & am a wreck shuffled room to room.
Mammogram dept w geary tech/nurse in SF was a bloody nightmare ..
are you really forcing me to stand after i was upright for drive, told you i have orthostatic intolerance, i am with a seated walker and have to grip machine for image and then order 16+!images?
I have tremendous willpower to power through to my detriment & then crash for weeks
I don't have an aid to explain all this but i vocalize prior to appt and during.
If i am moving my calf muscles its a bit better for maybe 15 min.
I hate going to appts at Kaiser.

My current PCP is *great, as is my cardiologist
when you "look normal" as all these newer autonomic disabilities have feature-
No one "sees" the patient .
you can bet i decline appts & ridiculous reminders bc of this.
Why do i want to subject myself to this every time after each time i inform them and it only gets worse ?

The first nurse i met was a piece of work-
abusive kathleen ryan in feb 2019..
She is one i would never trust ever with compromised patients.
She assumed my teeny dose off label sleep med was used for another purpose
and proceeded to act like a scary sadist psychiatric nurse
"oh i'll bet" and all kinds of appalling treatment behavior.

Most of the 30+ docs i have seen were great barring, 3 in my first year.
I dumped two pcp's for gaslighting serious symptoms
or behaving in typical patriarchal sexist medical way of dismissing women & symptoms..
oh so you think endless 3am vomiting,
only being able to swallow thin liquids & inability to eat is "anxious"?
      As pounds were dropping -
Did you really ask an educated patient/ post grad in psych from 30 yrs ago followed by grad work in functional medicine
this question & not see your bias?
      i know myself.

It was Gastroparesis - you idiot, naccompanied w dropping BP, a resting HR of 130, standing HR was 180+, elevated platelets & high ESR
another doc had the savvy to do further testing.

this is not atypical for dysautonomia patients.
the age old "hysterics" is used when medical staff is ignorant

i went to a geneticist in 2019- she gaslighted me on my hyper mobility bc she neglected to advise to wear gym clothes (my PT gave me a 6/9 beighton)
all the docs after her asked about HSD or EDS
      &
she still shut me down - when i followed up
      saying "it doesn't matter"

5 yrs later i made an app w another geneticist-
a wonderful Japanese doc at Kaiser
and he gave me the diagnosis i knew i had.. Stanford even mentioned as did outside docs
a lot of unnecessary tests and medical rabbit holes could have been avoided if she took me seriously and acknowledged she was mistaken

One thing I like about Kaiser is their education program. I've taken a few of their weight loss sessions and this year decided to do their Medical Weight Management program. This was a big deal since I'm such a foodie, which when I look back explains a lot. I got into a great weekly cohort and with the regular labs and doctor follow ups, I feel I was set up to succeed. Still have a ways to go, but I'm much lighter than where I started three months ago and still on the downward direction. Thanks to my PCP and the education group for their ongoing support.

Had taken my sister here for a physical her doctor a phillippinne woman was super condescending with a rude tone. Sort of like asking questions and when she gets the answer she gives you a look like your dumb. For example she ask about the last time my sister had a period, she couldn't recall the exact time. The doctor look at her like she's was stupid and said "you don't know whose keeping track?". Instead of being informative to a 12yr old she just judged. He intake assistant had a very upset bland personality also. The visit just was not a feeling of being welcomed into a caring facility. The only sweet and nice person who didn't have a rude, or shady undertone when she spoke was the nurse who administered the shot. She was super professional and nice. My sister gave her a hard time a little because she was afraid of needles. The nurse gave her the shot and she cried, but apologized although it's her duty she was great. At this time the doctor laughed at my sister instead of being consoling. Health physician at Kaiser I notice you have to do a tit for tat with to be noticed which sucks!!

      Meh?

I always come 10-20 minutes early to my appointments that I schedule so far in advanced, yet they always seem to call for my name in the waiting room around 10 minutes after the scheduled time. Once I am inside the Doctor's room, I often have to wait 10-20 more minutes just to be seen by the actual Doctor.

Sure, they are "nice". But there's a pattern of robotic socializing that they do each visit.

I wish I could have a Doctor that remembered me. Haha but I understand that the hospital is a busy place so who am I to complain?

However, these $30 payments are out of hand. Wish paying for insurance was enough. Sigh...

This Kaiser's got their covid protocol down to a t! Came here to visit optometry and gynecology, the parking is free so that's already a win. Then, the elevator system is a bit wonky but you get used it to. You take an elevator from the garage to the lobby, turn a corner and then take another elevator to your desired dept floor.

The lobby was super clean and their security had an efficient system where everyone (staff and patients) was socially distanced w masks on, a staff member would squirt you some hand sanitizer, take your temp, and then enforce elevator capacity of 3 pple max.

All the staff are wearing masks/face guards, the floor waiting rooms have socially distanced chairs, but everyone is still super friendly and helpful. I noticed touching was kept to a minimal (ex: touching of member ID cards, water fountains blocked off, hand sanitizer everywhere) which is great. People don't look stressed here which also makes for a much calmer and nicer experience overall. I felt very safe and well served as a Kaiser member. Thanks Daly City Kaiser!

Providers and services offered (Medical Office, Optical Sales, Teen Clinic, Health Education, Lactation Nurses, Radiology, etc.) are AWESOME!

But waiting to be seen + parking to avail of those services are HORRENDOUS.

As a solution to the facility's lack of parking, free valet parking is now offered in the garage... wayyyyyy down on P3... aka third level from the center of the Earth.

The hours at the Valet Podium are posted as 9am to 530pm yet not a single attendant was in sight between 130pm to 330pm on a weekday.

Returned two hours later and still no valets.

      Where for art thou, Romeo?

An unattended podium with invisible valets won't make parking any easier for members.

My mom needed her meds so I offered to pick them up for her. Parking is a piece a cake and it's free! They have a round about for ppl to drop off and pick up but you always have that one idiot who wants to park in the circle making it difficult for drivers to complete their circle. Anyways, tons of hand sanitizer stations and temperature takers. I was happy with the cleanliness and and their well thought out social distancing process. I felt safe... didn't feel COVID-ish when leaving. Staff was friendly and answered all my questions.
