Kal Tire

I just returned to Kal Tire to have new tires installed. I had received such great service at
this location for a previous wheel alignment I thought I would try it again. I was not disappointed.

These guys know the type of customer service that can be rare in Canada. A pleasure to deal with.

I stumbled on this gem as my tire was punctured by a nail and I was in the area. Usually this would be an upsetting scenario.

However, I met Shane and the team, had a nice Starbucks, watched a movie in the nice waiting area.

They fixed the tire very quickly and and gave me great advice.

The space is clean, organized and modern.

When it comes to something as important to safety as tires - especially with kids in the car. So now I only go to this Kal Tire.

I will literally drive past 10+ tire shops on my way to this particular spot, as they have my trust and loyalty.

I would never go to this place again.
They did help me out. It was an emergency. I had been lent a car and I got a flat and there was no spare with the car?

. They managed to fix my leak, which was great. But they didn't tell me how much it was going to cost. I've never spent almost $60 to fix a spare tire. That seems like an a ridiculous amount check out the receipt.

They charged me $34.40 to change the tire and another $16 for the little piece rubber they inserted.
Absolutely ridiculous price.
Don't go here if you don't have to.

I dropped by today as I heard a rattle under my car. There were no other cars on any of the bays. I asked if they could check & whether it would be ok to keep driving.

They could not help me..this is the second time I've gone there in the last year for assistance & have found them incredibly unhelpful & not customer oriented at all! Will never go back & I don't recommend them

I am not too impressed. If you're buying a new tire from them, and they're tasked with mounting the tire to your car I think it's fair to expect they'd at least check the tire pressure for all tires and fill those tires as needed.

I get my seasonal tires changes here. I do it because I can get the tires stored as I have no space at home. But I have had issues. They can never set the TPMS correctly. That is annoying. And the last time it cost me much money. The TPMS did not indicate a low tire pressure and I ended up with a flat tire on which I had to drive in order to get to a safe parking space. The tire was toast. I ended up having to buy two (so they would be balanced) new snow tires for over $1,000.
if I knew of a better place I would not go there ever again. I am looking.

This is a follow up on my previous review regarding another interaction with the shop manager.

We had a disagreement on whether KalTire caused a damage to my vehicle as its wheel got detached from the lower controller arm two days after I got picked it up from KalTire. The synchronicity of the events was such that I can't consider the damage to be an accident and unrelated to KalTire's job. We drove the car only once after taking it from the shop.

However, the store manager considered it mere coincidence. He then suggested that I contact ICBC and ask them to send someone to evaluate the vehicle. I did so, and contacted ICBC, who ensured me that "ICBC does not have any mechanics to do such assessments and this is job of a third party mechanic who can then write to us with his findings."
I informed the store manager of ICBC's response and the fact that I will be sending a mechanic for check the vehicle.

Here is the store owner's response: "we will only take ICBC as the third party, as well we need the vehicle removed asap from our building".

If I had doubts about whether the store owner considers his shop to be at fault or not, I am now quite certain that he is well aware of his shop's mistake; otherwise, he would not have refrained from such inspection and continue to bully me to remove the vehicle. Not to mention, as a KalTire shop manager, he most definitely already knew that ICBC does not send anyone for assessment!

Anyhow, my hands are tied. I will report the incident and the mechanic's findings to ICBC, but I regret the wasted time and energy.

Brought my model 3 in for a winter tire swap. It was quite busy at this location and there was a lineup to drop off your car and the parking lot was packed. Due to the fact that their lot is full, they park the serviced vehicle in an overflow lot by Mr lube. The swap was done quickly but when I got to my car in the overflow lot, I found out all 4 tires were set at 27 psi (the manufacturer recommends 42 to 45 psi). Didn't want to go back to discuss this with them due to the lineup. I would return to kal for their quick service but I feel they should have inflated the tires properly.

I had a little concern on my tire pressure while driving in the area and stopped by Kal Tire Arbutus to ask for guidance, James who was in the reception area readily assisted me. Thanks for the great service! I will be back for future tire concerns.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??

So I dropped off a tire to be repaired. A very large screw in the centre tread, thanks to the Burrard Street Bridge fiasco (that's a rant for another day). When I returned the tire was repaired, reinstalled, the spare tire placed back in the trunk all the accessories screwed back in.
Then the tech announced that there was no charge!
Let's be clear here, the vehicle had original tires from the dealer on it, not tires purchased at this this location. This is probably the third time, I have been to this location in five years; I am not by any stretch of the imagination their best customer.
When I inquired as to why the service was free, the tech said to me, because we are in a good mood.

It is hit and miss here, previous great experience, recent disaster!
Arrived mid afternoon and was told they could not do repair that day, so appointment was made for the next morning. Was told 8:30 appointment would be up and down in 20 to 30 minutes. Showed up on time, checked in, 4th in line, was again told half an hour, so waited.
45 minutes later, was told I was next after this guy and that guy, and then it would be half an hour.
Like a fat ass on a wicker chair, losing faith quickly.
All kinds of excuses from front end guy, but continuing the lie, is not at all that helpful Asked for my keys and left.
One great experience ....one terrible experience.
