Stopped in for a quick dinner and instantly fell in love with the restaurant. Beautiful inside and friendly. The food was delicious even if the choices weren't as wide as we are used to elsewhere. We did enjoy the different items than we normally get at home, so there is that. We had four rolls or so and a small sashimi boat. Next time I would get more sashimi and less rolls but that's just me.

Food came out quickly, tasted fresh, and was enjoyed by all of us. Very quick walk to get here from the Fairmont and Pan Pacific so if you are in town for a cruise and need to get good sushi before you leave, this is the spot to go to.

Friendly and casual dining that is consistent for smiling service, '70's karaoke bar vibes, and a large pricey menu. I've been here about four or five times and it's always tough picking what to eat because of all the options. I'd have to say that the Royale Set is the most complete and satisfying, though it does come with a $50 price tag, it doesn't leave you in regret having tried a clam soup, chawan mushi, nigiri, tempura set, and sashimi (for a few more bucks). Convenient walk from Canada Place along Coal Harbour's main street.

Came here for happy hour and loved the food and drinks!

Happy hour is offered everyday between 4-5:30 and 9 pm to close. The hh menu includes both drinks and food.

My friend and I met here around 5 pm and it was pretty empty, probably because it was super cold outside. We chose this location because it was near the Burrand skytrain and it was forecasted to snow that day. The restaurant is pretty large with plenty of comfy booth seating.

To start, we ordered 10 oysters for $1.99 each as well as the hot sake ($6.95 for 6 oz). The oysters here are some of my favorites as they're very sweet and not too salty. Some were meatier than others, but they were all good. If I could've ordered more, I would have, but they have a 10 oyster limit.

We ordered two more items off the happy hour menu: supreme mega roll with chopped scallop and crab ($14.50) and ika sugatayaki ($18.95). Both were really good. The roll was a good menu of crunchy (cucumber) and creamy (avocado), and the squid was marinated well with the right amount of chewiness.

Near the end of the meal, we wanted something a bit more carb-y, so we also shared the nabeyaki udon ($21.50). The hot soup really hit the spot, and we really enjoyed the flavors in the broth as well.

We went to Kamei for dinner for a day trip to Vancouver. We order the Uni Ikura Don, Sashimi and one of their sushi rolls. The Uni Ikura Don is a dish that stands out for its presentation and the freshness of the sea urchin and salmon roe. The sashimi selection is generous and provides a decent range of fish. Each slice is fresh and consistent in terms of thickness and size. The ambiance of the restaurant is traditional with a touch of modernity, making it a comfortable place to dine. Additionally, our sushi roll gave us the option to add 3 different toppings of our choice which was a great way to customize.

Kamei Royale has been a staple Japanese joint in DT Vancouver for many years. After it relocated from its prime location above Tiffany and Co., on Burrard and Alberni, I've kinda forgot about it as the new location is tucked on the quiet side of West Hastings.

Was around the area and decided to stop in for lunch solo. Walked in and the place was very busy at 12:30pm on a rainy Tuesday. They asked me if I wanted to sit at the counter but I said I was happy to wait for a small table to myself. They seated me in a tucked away corner that they don't usually use, which I loved. I got to see some of the Chef's at work from my table, which is always a plus.

They have a special lunch menu and I decided to order the Unagi & Sashimi boat combo for $26.95. It comes with miso soup, small serving of unagi on rice, 3 pieces of tuna sashimi, 2 pieces of salmon sashimi, assorted tempura, half a Dynamite roll, and 3 pieces of fresh fruit.

Hot green tea was promptly served and the service was attentive and friendly. My lunch was served pretty quickly and the food quality is average to slightly above average. The quantity of the food is there and no complaints on the food.

Price is a tiny smidge pricey but for the location, ambiance, quantity and quality of the food it seems reasonable.

I would definitely meet up with colleagues here for a work lunch, as the service and food comes out in a good amount of time and the ambiance is great for solo to group dining.

I have been a patron of Kamei Royal for over 15 years. It's the best Japanese restaurant for me in Vancouver.

I especially like their Chawan Mushi. It is so smooth and tasty. My hubby is a fan of their Dobin Mushi.

This place introduced me to Tuna Tataki. I am not a fan of raw food. So a seared tuna is a good alternative for me. I like how they lightly season it with black pepper and comes with fresh vegetables. Every bite is an explosion of flavors.

My daughter loves Japanese food. She likes the crunch and munch. She's a bit picky but when you serve her crunch and munch, she can devour the whole thing.

With a bigger space in their newer location, this is a great place for families and large groups to enjoy.

All the food was delicious!! The service was great, it's clean inside, 1995 interior style. My favorite was the deluxe sushi platter! They have foie gras, I wish I saw it in the menu before!!

decor and vibes are good and it's really spacious which means there's always a seat (unlike all the other dt sushi places), good service. hits a good niche of bougie but not ridiculously expensive.

i was feeling classy so i tried the bluefin tuna don (I LOVE BLUEFIN TUNA) which for 25$ was a solid deal given how pricey it can be. no complaints

Relaxing quiet ambience and fast friendly service! We enjoyed our dinner here in one of the more private booths. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious: scallops skewers, asari miso soup, grilled salmon belly and kama, and the sushi nigiri set. I felt price was fair for downtown. The only negative is they don't use real wasabi.

      Happy sushi set
      Asari miso soup was excellent
