Love this plant store. The owner really has a green thumb, her plants all look healthy. Came in as soon as they opened, browsed around, left the store empty handed, pondered about buying a plant over lunch, pondered more while grocery shopping and went back to buy not one but two Pathos N-Joy!

She also has a Thai Constellation Monstera for $350. You'll know when I won the lotto if I buy this from her !

Got this from Katsura Gardens many years ago. Still alive and kicking!
Just bought this beautiful Pothos N-Joy! Isn't she gorgeous?

Since I am avid fan of botany; plants, trees, flowers, and everything in between, I had the honor of visiting "Katsura Garden" which was in the heart of Japantown in the Western Addition neighborhood of San Francisco. This particular place is actually inside the shopping mall area but the easiest way to find it is that it is at the corner of Post & Webster St's. It has been here for several decades having been opened since 1974.

This place has probably one of the most eclectic varieties of native Japanese plants that I've seen in a nursery, at least here in California. Here, you will find dozens of Moon Valley Pilea plants, Monstera trees, and of course the very popular Bonsai trees. For a regular sized Bonzai, they retail for about $60 which is surprisingly a very good price with how beautiful and delicate these look.

In addition to the vast assortment of plants and trees here, they carry a ton of Japanese Ikebana vases, ceramic pots, planters, supplies, and tools imported directly from Japan. From my visit (which was on Saturday 4/1/2023), I had an amazing experience while the nice lady working there was able to answer all my questions. They also have generous hours of operation being opened seven days a week from 10am to 6:30pm. With that said and done, I am giving "Katsura Garden" a perfect 5-star Yelp rating.

What a lovely shop in SF Japan Town!

Located inside of the mall, if you have the chance to walk in here, you won't be disappointed. The ladies who were there the day I visited were super kind and listened to me go on about how certain things inside of their shop reminded me of my family.

Very beautiful array - the place is filled with plants, flowers, pots, vases, and garden / flower accessories galore. If I had space for plants and was going straight home afterwards, I would have purchased some here.

You can find items of all sizes and fairly priced. Great place for buying gifts for friends or family - housewarming ideas and plant parents alike. I left with a couple items I plan to gift to my mom on Mother's Day and a little momento for my sister and I reminiscent of our grandfather. They packaged everything so nicely and with so much care. Will be back in the future!

I've walked by Katsura Garden numerous times before, but this was my first time visiting with the intent to shop. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted. I proceeded to make my way around the small plant store checking out all of their offerings. I am by no means a plant expert, but I do have a sizable collection of thriving plants at home. From what I saw in the store, all of the plants seemed vibrant and well taken care of. The plants include a great variety from small to large and common to exotic. They also have a selection of bonsai trees which I feel like I haven't seen at other plant stores. While I didn't ask the store any questions, I did notice that the shopkeeper answering all the questions of another customers. I ended up picking up a calathea and am happy with it!

Really like this place. The prices are reasonable and they sell a lot of bonsai pots, plants, clay, soil, and tools. The lady that works there is nice. On days where Japantown has events, it can get cramped and crowded. But it's always fun to look around. So many cute things to see and buy there.

Katsura Garden is an adorable little plant store in Japan Town. They sell a wide variety of plants from common pothos, tradescantias, and pepperomias to rarer varieties like pink philodendrons and variegated monsteras. They also sell an assortment of ceramic pots and gardening supplies.

Everything is reasonably priced and the store is overall wonderful to visit. The owner is very knowledgeable and welcoming. Definitely check Katsura Garden out!

Cute local plant shop in Japan town. I love checking out there selection and seeing what goodies they have (I've seen uncommon philos, carnivorousbutterworts, etc). Owner is super cute and nice.

Recently picked up zip lock bags of:

      Hanuma clay $2.50
      Akadama $2.95-3.95

Great price (it's like 4-5x this online)

They have beautiful bonsais. I occasionally come by and admire the craft and the plants. Also purchased some plants for my friends from this shop in the past. For birthdays, I usually like to purchase plants instead of cut flowers as it's more durable, don't know if that makes any sense, though I do love cut flowers, too. I guess it's all about the mood... And I shop all over... but for bonsai, I would definitely come check them out here.

I love this shop. It's small but jam packed with variety of plants that are clearly loved--and the quality + price can't be beat. Plus the lady there is super sweet.

My go to for a little plant therapy.
