They serves traditional and healthy Japanese sushi with fresh and good quality fishes.
They are almost full in sunny weekend, wait time is long.
But service is good, foods are amazing, worth the wait.
I like their Hiromaki ,Oceanmaki and Tuna Tataki.
You should try Beef Nanban or Chiken Teriyaki with rice and miso soup. Awsome.

Delicious sashimi. The fresh seafood in Vancouver is really incredible. That night happened to be very quiet, so it felt like we had our own personal sushi chef and waitress, and both were as nice as could be. We also had some Japanese standards: tempura and agedashi tofu, oh, and an octopus seaweed salad, and they were all excellent.

This restaurant is cozy and has an authentic Japanese feeling when you walk in. It's a small restaurant across the street from the beach and surrounded by many restaurants. There are shoji screens dividing the tables, creating a very Japanese atmosphere.

Their menu is vast which can be good or bad. Good because there's something for everyone. Bad because they can't do everything well so it can a bit of crap shoot when ordering...you just don't know if you picked something they're good at.

I've been a couple times here with groups and tried many items. The sashimi and sushi are excellent but a bit pricey, especially the sashimi. Fish are fresh and higher quality than the chain sushi places. The yosenabe and grilled black cod (I think it was a special) were also quite good. The yosenabe is mixed seafood in a sweet & savoury umami-packed soup with clear noodles. The black cod had a delicious miso glaze and was buttery good. We also tried the chirashi don, tempura, and dobin mushi (clear soup usually served in a tea pot) which were standard.

Service is not great. The older server/host does not look happy to be there. It's difficult to catch someone's attention for service and when you do get someone, it's another wait for your request. On my last visit we ordered the assorted sushi and waited over 40 minutes for ~10 pieces of nigiri! Although the food can be good, it's not worth putting up with the frustrating wait and service.

      Great food, very friendly server.
Their dinner combo is the best. It comes with fruit bowl. Very juicy fresh fruit.

Serves was poor, food is too expansive.. We were waiting for half hour to get our first dish after we ordered. And than the dishes came to the table by every 15 ministers . We stayed there for two and half hours, 90 minutes was for waiting, waiting for the dishes, even the bill!!!
We will never go back again!!!!
You can find lots of Japanese restaurants beside this one. The food is no that good and not worth for such a long time for waiting!!!!

Everything is so small and especially the egg&mushroom soup, $6 for half of small bowl of soup!!! And I think they put lots of MSG, because I was so thirsty after dinner!!!!

      Never go back again!!!!

Our last sushi meal and for that matter, last official meal of our trip to Vancouver. Came to Kibune Sushi on Thursday evening after hanging out at Kitsilano beach for a few hours (it's conveniently a 2 minute walk from the beach). We saw this place earlier on and knew it was going to awesome just from the front. It just oozes Japanese.

We decided to sit at one of the tables where you took off your shoes and sat on the floor. Outside patio would have been better but it was getting cold/still was windy so we sought warmth indoors. Servers are very friendly and the sushi chefs are old school. Don't think we heard the chefs speak a word of english, it was all Japanese.

Anyways, we decided to split some sashimi and sushi so we ordered:

      - Tuna and salmon sashimi ($14.95) - salmon was melt in your mouth! So good. Nice presentation (comes in a mini boat) and you get 10 pieces total (5 of each).
      - Ocean maki ($7.50) - avocado, hamachi, cucumber and tobico. This one was pretty good and you get 6 pieces.
      - Tomo maki ($7.50) - BBQ salmon and skin topped with salmon. They give you 6 pieces. This one I wouldn't order again - the skin gives it a weird taste.

We weren't super hungry otherwise we would have/should have ordered more. Really small but authentic, inviting Japanese restaurant. Perfect place to get your sushi fix. Just go and you can thank me later.

Worst sushi restaurant ever. Very few sushi options for a place called Kibune Sushi. Arrived around 5:40. Brought tea and then ignored for another 5 minutes before they came to take our order (we had to flag down). Appetizer dishes came out quickly.

Then nothing. For almost an hour. When we arrived it was not busy. The restaurant filled up as we sat waiting. We had a view of the kitchen. We watched the sushi chef make multiple take out orders before they started ours. We watched dish after dish leave and still no sign of our food. We had to flag down people repeatedly as we had tickets to Bard and had to leave soon. Around 6:40 we finally got half our sushi. Then nothing for another 15 min. Eventually we had to say we had to go and the sushi chef said it would arrive in 5 minutes.

We ended up having to get the remaining food to go as one of the meals was for a guy who had yet to eat anything.

Didn't leave the restaurant until 7:10.

We were offered some miso soup a few times and then near the end, ice cream for free. We didn't want miso (it was a hot day) and we didn't have time to wait around for ice cream. We had to be at bard for 7:30.

Horrible customer service. Not offered anything off the bill. Ignored most of the time. No explanation of why it was taking so long (though we could clearly see take out orders got priority with only 1 sushi chef) Do not come here. The food is not good enough to return. After waiting an hour for food, then having to scarf it down, left feeling uncomfortable and angry.

Good sashimi and sushi, but too a few servers and the food came really slow. Just short staffed in general.

We had a wonderful experience yesterday at this place. After taking our seats a lady appeared with warm towels to wash our hands( I have never had such before) definitely good point. Ordered tuna sushi 8 (pcs) and prawn tempura (6pcs)both were fresh, delicious. The waitress was nice offered water or green tea as well so the service was perfect here. We paid 33 including the tip for the food which i found acceptable. I would recommend to sit inside as the place has a very traditional look and feel.
