Found this gem today and was so very happy with their food. I had tempura to start then tuna and tako nigiri, spicy salmon aburi oshi sushi, and a torched salmon belly. The tempura was light and clean tasting unlike the batter I've had in other places. The fish to rice ratio was very good with large portions for fish and smaller portion of rice so you really savour the freshness of the fish. Service was swift and attentive. I would definitely recommend Kuro!

Tried this out for a late lunch on Sunday. It was actually quite busy, with only one server. But they were friendly and attentive. We were seated promptly and ordered a few rolls and appetizer tempura.
Appetizer tempura- 2 prawns, 1 yam, 1 sweet potato. It was a good way to start the meal. The tempura was light and crisp. The prawn was quite large too. It was our favourite dish from the meal.
Salmon avocado roll, negihama roll, mushroom roll- the rice to filling ratio was good. There wasn't too much rice and the fish was fresh. The mushrooms were an interesting roll and quite tasty. They had plenty of flavour.
BC roll- this one was too saucy for me. I would have preferred it without the sauce drizzled on top.
Kuro special roll- not something I usually order, but we decided to try it out. It was very saucy and the roll was deep fried. It was pretty tasty having the spicy tuna on top. However this was definitely too much sauce for me, but that's just my personal preference.
Overall, it was a tasty meal. We ended up with leftovers. It wasn't the cheapest meal, but it was reasonably priced for the portions.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 11, 2023First to Review
We came here for lunch on a Saturday. There was no wait to sit which was nice. We ordered the chicken katsu ($16.95), salmon oshi ($14.95), spider roll ($13.25), crunch prawn roll ($8.50), Futomaki roll ($11.50) and the unagi roll ($7.45).
The crunchy prawn roll was the favourite of the table. It was crunchy and had lots of prawns in it. The chicken katsu was pretty big. It was crispy and not dry. The spider roll was sweet due to the sauce. It was a bit dry. The futomaki fell apart too easily but it was stuffed with ingredients and reminded me more of a kimbap. The unagi roll had a bit too much cucumber in it. The salmon oshi was pretty good for the price. It was creamy and smoky.
Service was fast and really nice. One of their ingredients ran out and they let us know right away.
We enjoyed the food and the price is not bad. The service is also fast. Would recommend if you are looking for sushi in the neighbourhoodHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jade S.Vancouver, Canada024Dec 12, 2023
This was an amazing little sushi bar! Ian the chef and owner is super friendly and has a delicious menu! The tofu pockets are beyond amazing! The food is fresh and top quality, The dishes themselves are beautiful. Every thing that I've tried here has been so yummy! My new fav sushi spot! I would reccomend this place to anyone who wants quality fresh food with creative and delicious flavour!
They even have kids combo options that my son loves making this so easy for our family, I hope this place sticks around for years to come and stay as delicious as it is always!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cora L.East Vancouver, Vancouver, Canada0151Feb 29, 2024
