I walked into L A chicken in a very salty mood, but as soon as I saw the hardworking ethnic lady I looked at my friends Rashonda and D'fwan and we knew it was going to be a finger licking time. The chicken itself is probably the only one that can rival Churches as my beloved soul food as it was the crispiest I have ever had. It went well with the cheeto dust on my fingers that I get from my all night gaming sessions. The only gripe is that their fries were unlike me.... not salty at all.

Ok, I've been wanting to try this place out for a while now. I usually read reviews before I even attempt to walk into a place unknown.

I must admit, the reviews are right! One of the best places to get fried chicken. No disappointments.

I got the 10 piece Family Meal (10pcs chicken (half/half), "Family" (large) fries, and medium gravy).

They have the right crispiness level for both the spicy and regular, surprising as I usually have to order the spicy in order to get that satisfying crunch. Anyways, the spicy is quite light on the "spice". The fries were good, although I like my fries extra crunchy; they were soft to bite into but still had a crispy exterior. The gravy. What can I say, but wow! It's actually made with a roux (flour, fat). I've never in my life experienced real gravy when ordering fried chicken. Needless to say, that's some tasty gravy

I was told to wait 5 minutes when ordering, and that's what I got. My regular chicken was still piping hot when I bit into it 10 minutes later. The spicy one was still hot, but had cooled.

Overall, what a pleasant experience. I didn't even get the prompt for tipping as there wasn't one . You honestly can't argue with the price. I've never ever gotten a 10 piece, large fries, and a regular gravy for $35 or anywhere close to that. Go to Churches or Jollybee and it's easily $10 more.

Super friendly, counter staff. Fast service and you get what they say.

This might just be my new go to place whenever I'm in the area. Gotta watch the weight though

One thing that you might want to be cautious of is if your parking there. It can be a little on the more compact side. Still space between cars, but watch out when someone is pulling out.

Haven't been here for fried chickens for several years. Picked up a 12 piece family meal yesterday and cost $38+ tax. Price is very reasonable when you compare with the Church's fried chickens. We asked for half and half ( regular and extra crispy). Impressed with the taste and not overly salted. Unsalted fries too so we can let our dog enjoy a few fries.
Currently they do not have sit in service but we will be back for sure.

This place is an institution... I don't understand how they haven't expanded to further locations?? Love the mom-n-pop shop vibes and a menu board from the eighties to go along with it.. prices are very reasonable.. we paid $40 for a 12 pc combo with med fries and gravy.. chicken is both super crispy yet super juicy.. couple gripes being spicy chicken could be a lot spicier and they are cash only

Chicken, Fries, and Gravy are all fantastic!

Been coming for years and still a huge favorite. Tasty chicken (a la KFC but much better), nicely thick fries for dipping in slightly peppery gravy. So good. (Recent packaging changes seem to mean a few less fries.)

Only tried 1 salad so far and it was better than the 2 national brands at the grocery stores so might add salads more often.

Always get LA when family/friends come to town.

It is a bit of a greasy spoon as they have not updated the "dining room" ever, but that is OK. They have not allowed eat-in since covid. The same 2 hard workers every day--don't know how they do it!

They take cash and debit, not sure about credit cards. Their debit machine does not have tap and is dial-up so know your PIN and have a bit of patience. (I think this is why reviews say calls go to voicemail. Can't see how they'd have time to check voicemail, they are so busy!)

I've never called ahead but orders usually only take about 10 min to prep since it is always freshly fried.

      Love this place.

we showed up at la chicken at around 6:30 pm on saturday and strangely, it didn't look busy. we tried calling ahead to place our order, but it went straight to their voicemail.

la chicken is fast food, located in a tiny strip mall, there's no place to dine in anymore, and they've blocked the washroom off with their tables. this casual spot serves tasty fried chicken. it's kind of hard to find, if you aren't familiar with richmond, located on 11780 thorpe road, just load it on your gps, it'll be worth it.

we ordered the 15 pieces, (serves five to seven people, but this is for just the two of us, no judgements please), chicken only (no sides), white and dark meat, and crispy (not really spicy at all, get this instead of the regular recipe). we were told the wait would be about ten minutes, no problem as i recall waiting 30 minutes in the past.

we had to deal with some sort of stall in richmond, which took about 40 minutes, and i was worried our chicken would get soggy, but it wasnt. golden and crispy on the outside, deep fried chicken, juicy and flavourful on the inside, it's that perfect crunch that just hits the spot. i practically inhaled three and a half pieces. so relieved la chicken is as good as i remembered it to be. i'm pretty sure we got more than 15 pieces (but who's counting). this is the standard to which we compare all other fried chicken to.

Spicy Fried Chicken wasn't really spicy at all lol, not sure what spice was in here. Gravy was so thick, unbearably thick I would say. Fries were good.

Can't say we'll be coming back cause it's not technically cheap either. 3/5

L A Chicken in Richmond B.C. is the real deal, a total mom and pop joint that's all about good vibes and even better grub. Walk in, and you're hit with those cozy feels - it's like stepping into a friend's kitchen, but with the best fried chicken in the Lower Mainland YO!

Let's rap about that chicken, though. This ain't your average crispy bird; it's the holy grail of fried goodness. Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside - they've cracked the code on flavor, no doubt. The recipe they're working with is straight-up wizardry.

Now, here's the lowdown on why L A Chicken is my go-to for family bashes. I'm talking about rolling up to every shindig with a bucket of this finger-lickin' magic, and BAM! It's an instant crowd-pleaser. The compliments flow, and everyone's hollering, "Where'd you get this stuff?" It's the L A Chicken effect, my friends.

Quick tip for the savvy party planner - if you're throwing a bash that's bigger than life, make that pre-order move. L A Chicken's got the rep, and the demand is no joke. Don't risk missing out on the goodness; secure that order ahead of time.

In a world full of cookie-cutter chains, L A Chicken reps the realness of a mom and pop joint that knows its stuff. It's not just a spot to snag a meal; it's where you soak in good vibes, make memories, and devour some seriously dope fried chicken. Keep it real, and hit up L A Chicken for a taste of the legit Richmond flavor.

Certainly a local favourite, there was already a short lineup despite coming right at opening pretty much. Known for their fried chicken, I ended up getting the 2 piece snack and I certainly did not have to wait long. Comparing it to other fried chicken places, I didn't think it was anything too special but wouldn't mind getting it again if I was in the neighborhood.

We did a mukbang for my brother's birthday. We got fried chicken from KFC, Churches, Popeyes, and LA chicken.

Let me tell ya...LA Chicken is still the best tasting chicken. The crunch and juiciness and flavour surpasses that of all the other chicken.

I don't eat it so often because my stomach gets heavy and not so happy in the morning when I eat too much of it. An easy solution would be not to eat a lot of it...but once you start crunchin', it's hard to stop :)

4 stars tho coz the fries sucked and the gravy gets to thick. Skip the fries.

Crunchy, spicy chicken in the back. Original in the front. Spicy is where it is at!
