When looking for a local Mexican restaurant, this was the real deal in South City.

The location is a bit off from the main restaurant area, but a great find. Easy parking and very casual atmosphere. Chips, salsa, and water arrived shortly. Great Mexican food and good portions.

Don't let the picture fool you - these plates were HUGE!!! The house made sopes were so yummy, and I like how the combo comes with rice beans lettuce and tomatoes.

The tortillas were extra fresh too, and they have several beers on tap, and a variety of margaritas to choose from. Service was very friendly, in this smaller spot in SSF, which has 2-3 TVs playing various sports / shows.

      1 check-in

The employees were fantastic, the food was okay, but prices were high and margarita had no alcohol in it. Eh, it wasn't all that great. I feel badly saying this, but we probably won't be back.

Food was delicious prepared nicely and packed with flavor , They have professional & friendly service , cocktails on the smaller size compare to price though, if your wanting to enjoy a good cocktail however the "Mexican Candy" was delicious reminded me of the watermelon suckers from my childhood taste was accurate in comparison I believe, check them out or take food to go which is assemble neatly and with travel conscious

Chose this place because it was nearby to where we we staying. That was a big mistake. Place was empty. Maybe because it was a Tuesday night. We ordered chicken enchiladas, Chile rellenos and chorizo and egg plates. Needless to say the food was horrible. The worst Mexican food we've ever tasted. Bland with no flavor. It was so bad we couldn't finish after a few bites. This restaurant is pricey and they charge you an additional 4% when you use a credit card. We've eaten better at Taquerias. We will never return and will let our friends know. I recommend they hire a better chef who knows Mexican cuisine.

This was an authentic and quaint Mexican restaurant. I came by for lunch one day and ordered takeout. The waitress was friendly and was able to to answer all my questions. It was pretty quick and the food from the kitchen smelled really good.

I love the packaging for the food, it was in a hefty container packed with the super burrito, chips packed in a bag, and some salsa. The super burrito was huge and I was able to make two meals out of it! Packed with chunk of Al pastor, guacamole, pico de gallo, rice, and beans. The salsa had medium heat and a nice addition to the crispy chips. The horchata was sweet and a nice taste of cinnamon.

The food was great overall but I would have liked to have my chilaquiles be spicier (hence the reason for requesting salsa). I absolutely loved the beans and rice that came with it but even more was the handmade tortillas !
The down side is that I didn't know nor was I informed (until my check showed up) that I would be charged extra for the salsa that was brought out to me if I would have known 1- I would not have requested it and 2- since I did request it I would have taken it home since I barely used more than a spoonful of each (it was taken away before I received the check). I will be back again but next time I know to request it to be spicier.

Definitely feels like a favorite neighborhood place. Thanks to Yelpers we learned about it when we were visiting up in the Daly City / San Francisco area recently. Although it was my birthday, somehow others decided that we were going to have Mexican food. Oh-kay.

Yelp listing after Yelp listing in the area were mostly taquerias. That wasn't what we wanted - we were looking for nice sit-down restaurant to enjoy our food and each other's company. After Google Maps took us on a strange route to get to the restaurant we were starting to wonder where in the heck we were going.

By the time we got inside, we were concerned that we'd driven a long way for an unknown quantity. The vibe of a locals' hangout started to dispel the concern.

Our server was friendly and helpful when we asked about various ingredients. I was able to find non-dairy options. Boy, it's hard to be in a Mexican restaurant and not want to consume melted cheese on various dishes!

Dear Hubby and I ordered the shrimp fajitas. The style of saucing was heavier than we've had at other places. I would have preferred a lighter touch, letting the shrimp shine through. One order was plenty for us to share.

Adored Grandson went for the chilaquiles, which looked really impressive. He enjoyed polishing them off. Oh, to have a teen's metabolism!

This is a solid choice in a neighborhood with limited parking. Almost like being in the Avenues in San Francisco! They have a bar in the back of the main dining room, with several TV's tuned to sports events. They also have a second larger room to the side, which I imagine is used for parties and other special events. They keep it dark when not in use.

If you want something with more variety than a taqueria, give La Nueva Perla a try.

The food was meh. We had several flying bugs at our table throughout the meal that we tried to chase, and which marred our dinner. The service itself was fine.

I got a burrito and a taco here, and the packaging and presentation of the food is top notch. However, my super burrito with al pastor meat was kind of dry. Same with the taco. Maybe I just had a bad batch because I ordered early in the morning at 9am. Wish the meat was juicier.
