Lakian Landscape and Design

John and his crew did a fabulous job on our preschool landscaping, including installing irrigation from the basement. The drought tolerant plant selection and rocks are beautiful, and I'm looking forward to watching the plants mature and spread.
They were open to making changes along the way as needed, and also built a beautiful redwood border along the beds. His crew also did a great job with the trees on the sidewalk in front - they look so much healthier and there is much more light coming through. John and his crew were easy to communicate with, hardworking, and I appreciated how well they would clean up every day after completing work. We plan to use them for ongoing maintenance. I would highly recommend this company!

John clipped my mirror while driving his work truck. He was polite, professional, and totally accountable for his actions. He mailed me a check as soon as I had an estimate. In fact he even offered to drop it off so I wouldn't have to wait an extra day. I'm assuming that he probably does business the same way and takes excellent care of his clients.

TOO BUSY TO TAKE NEW CUSTOMERS

John did very good work for me for a number of years. Then in mid-2013, things started to go wrong. He hired a crew that didn't work to his standards, resulting in what John himself described in one instance as a "crappy job". He promised better oversight, but that didn't really happen. He stopped doing periodic maintenance of my small front yard. Then he stopped returning phone calls. My front yard began to become overgrown, but he wouldn't get back to me until I wrote him very directly asking if he was still on the job. I'm attaching that text exchange, which you can judge for yourself. Tomorrow, I'll begin looking for another gardener. John, obviously, has too much work to take on any more. :-(

Hi, John!  I've been trying to reach you for some weeks with no response.  Are you still tending my yard?  I need work done and will have to seek another gardener if you don't get back to me.  Please reply.

John Lakian and his staff do beautiful work. After doing some maintenance on my back yard and front garden today I remarked to John that I wish I had a view of the garden from my living room or bedroom so that I could sit and enjoy his nice work from inside the house.

He has been doing our home for many years. Really nice guy. Works very diligently and does beautiful work.

I tend a very large, notable garden in Russian Hill that is faced with many challenges and constraints. I have been fortunate to enlist Johns helps with scoping and executing several large improvement projects, including hedge restoration, soil application, etc. John and crew bring attention to detail, vast knowledge and experience, solid teamwork, incredible 'man' power and a refreshing attitude/sense of humor. All projects have been completed on time, and within budget!

John has been an invaluable partner, not to mention, a total pleasure to work with.

John has been taking care of our property since April of 2006. We are very happy with him and his work. He's a good guy as are his employees. He listens, makes suggestions when needed, and does thorough work. And he shows up on time. And his pricing is fair.

We've used John and his team for 10 years, first as maintenance, then as design, install and maintenance for a new garden. He is a sincere, nice, professional guy that does great work.

Mr. Lakian has worked with me on three different properties, two in SF and one in San Rafael. Time and again, he has proven to be reliable, creative and resourceful. Especially impressive is his knowledge of drought-resistant plants and how to use them creatively to make a typical SF yard look brilliant while using minimal water. I highly recommend him for any landscaping projects, from simple Blow 'n Go to hardscape builds, to reforestation.

We have used John to redo our front yard. They did a very good job. We are very happy with the whole process (design and actual work). And John is a very nice guy.
