I've used Letts in the past, and have always been happy with their work, and their customer service. They installed a new hot water heater for me, and new drain plumbing for a bathroom sink that got to be more than I could handle when the pipe was stuck and not strong enough for me to get out.
So, when I had a problem recently, I called them and they came out quickly. I suspected a leak in the hot water feed to a bathroom sink, and it was worse than I thought. A length of pipe needed to be replaced, and he was able to get some help late in the day and get it fixed right away. He had to work in the crawlspace, where it was pretty wet due to the leak, but got it all done for $225, which I thought was a great price considering there were 3 people there for a while.
Not only was it fixed, but the plumber and his helpers were all very friendly, which seems to be normal for Letts. I really appreciate the friendliness and trust I feel from them, and the fact that they never have a bad attitude, and always treat me well.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 25, 2016Previous reviewI'm pretty good at figuring out how to do things, and feel I do a better job than many (most?) people I'd hire. The other day, I was replacing the parts on a sink in one bathroom, and it was going pretty well until I went to replace the popup. The trap was so old and thin that it just came apart when trying to unscrew the connectors, and was stuck in the galvanized nipple in the wall. I couldn't get it loose, and the nipple itself was coming apart, so I gave them a call Thursday night. Friday morning, the plumber shows up, puts on his booties over his shoes, and goes to work. It took a while, and he basically did what I considered doing (making some cuts on the inside), but I was afraid to try for fear of destroying the connector. At $140/hour, it got expensive, but he successfully got it out, and replaced it with a nice new brass nipple.
Also, I didn't realize that the drain was 1.25" rather than the more standard 1.5", so the cheap plastic trap would not have worked; also my trap had only 2 nuts and I needed 3. So, he installed the trap and also a nicer popup, tightened some connections, checked for leaks, and did a really good cleanup. It looks great now, and no more galvanized parts!
He was somewhat new, and had charged me the hourly rate for running around to get the nipple, which because of the non-standard size, he didn't have it with him. So, when they sent me an email receipt, with a checkbox for whether I was happy or not, I mentioned that I thought the price was too high, especially since I had specified what was wrong (although I didn't specify the size, but neither did he ask ahead of time). About 15 minutes later, Shane Letts called me, talked to the plumber, and explained that they shouldn't have charged for buying the parts, and he gave me an immediate credit for $75. It was still a bit expensive (almost $400), but that's probably not out of line for high quality plumbers. I also appreciate how quickly they came out, and how friendly everyone was.May 14, 2012Previous reviewThanks, Yelp... I had been needing some various plumbing work done on my old neglected home, and didn't know any plumbers, and didn't really want to. So, I thought about Yelp, and started reading up on plumbers, and found a lot of good ones.
But I put off the work, and last night, while taking a shower, I noticed that the water wasn't as hot as normal. I got out, checked the old hot water heater, and it was off. Even worse, there was water dripping onto the already wet floor of our laundry room (lower than the main house, fortunately). So I checked it out and found out that the anode was leaking like crazy, and shut it all down.
I went to my notes, and called one of the plumbers that sounded good, but he was too busy to come the next day, and recommended Letts. I went back to Yelp, read the reviews, and wondered why I didn't have them written down already - the reviews were so good (except for one weirdo who complained about the price after the fact).
I spoke to Shane, one of the owners, who seemed incredibly friendly, informative, and willing to talk about the problem. He encouraged me to check with Home Depot, as my old heater was still in warranty, and said he would work with me if they replaced the heater. But HD was pretty unhelpful, and said I had to get it OK'd with the manufacturer, who was only interested in having me try various fixes first, none of which sounded reasonable, but would leave me without hot water for a while.
So, I said screw them and their pro-rated warranty, and had Letts install a new one. They quoted me a price, and I added a catch pan with drain, but they still only charged the original price. They installed a much nicer hot water heater, smaller, more efficient, and left the area cleaner than they found it. I was worried it wasn't working at first, because it barely felt warm on the outside, but the water was hot.
I don't really even feel bad that I had to spend all this money for the water heater. I've finally found a good plumbing company that I feel I can trust and talk to, which is one less worry in my life. A small price to pay!
Edit - 3 years later.... The hot water heater stopped heating, and I couldn't get the pilot to light. So I called Letts, and within 3 hours, it was fixed. A thermocouple went bad. Cost me $150 for it to be fixed, which is probably not that much to have something fixed so quickly. It's not their fault that the part went bad, and the heater warranty doesn't include labor, of course, so I can't complain about Letts. I was happy that they could fix it quickly, and the repair person was friendly and professional. - Dennis A.Concord, CA01Jul 31, 2024
If you have read the reviews, Believe them!! Unbelievable response, immediate service and the best and most professional work. In three days they repiped my 60 year old home. Sheldon is the best. The office personnel were also most helpful. Never had had to leave a message only a very delightful voice. If their motto is "Let LETTSs do it, I would say, "Don't let anybody BUT LETTS do it. Great price also. Dennis A

This is a long overdue review of Lett's plumbing. I've been meaning to write about our excellent service for several months now. We've had leaky pipe issues ever since Leapfrog Plumbing did a major reroute of our pipes about ten years ago. That company was less than accommodating when problems arose. When it happened again, we asked around for a quality, honest plumber, and Lett's name came up several times. After fixing the leak, a mistake was made that left a noticeable mark on a cabinet face. Mr. Lett talked to us personally about how the company was going to fix, not only the affected cabinet, but surrounding cabinet faces as well, so that everything was perfectly matched and aligned. The work was done and it all looks terrific. We were so impressed by Mr. Lett's dedication to doing right by his customers. He cares about the quality of his company's work, and he cares about the people who hire him. I couldn't recommend Lett's Plumbing more highly. If I could give Lett's a 6, I would!

Clogged my sink Monday night! I called Letts Plumbing and was able to have a technician come out after hours. The receptionist advised me it would be over time hours and I told her I understood and needed a plumber out asap. They gave me a window of 530-730. The plumbers showed up at 615pm, they unclogged my sink and left. The plumbers were really nice and were respectful of the work area. They brought all the tools they needed and cleaned up afterwards. Thank you Letts Plumbing for saving the day! I will definitely recommend your company and use your company again!

Previously used several times over 10-year period, glad I called this time. Kitchen disposal installed in summer 2020 was leaking. After speaking with manufacturer, determined the leak was at the top.
Called, got answering service ... that Letts uses to screen calls and then contact customer. Rep called back within in hour, scheduled for early afternoon.
Mikey arrived early in the time window, quickly assessed and explained the situation. Connection at top was loose; tightening did not fix. And, found several related problems, dating from one or more prior installs done by others, one of whom was a general fix-it guy, not a skilled plumber.
With no assurance that removing and attempting to fix the disposal would work, we agreed on replacement. Mikey went to work and completed install and changes to related PVC piping (maybe that way for 15 years) within an hour.
Very pleased with Letts' responsiveness and Mikey's work. An old lesson applies: "pay now ... or pay more later." Get quality work the first time, by people well-trained for the job!
We like that Letts is an independent, family-owned business. Workers learn and stay.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Nov 5, 2014Previous reviewWe had a leak from master bath shower drain that was discovered by inspection for pests. An independent plumber could not access the crawl space due to his large frame. We found Letts via Yelp and our neighborhood website. I explained to president Shane what was involved and that a small-medium framed person was needed.
Within a day, Tim and an apprentice helper arrived. They were very pleasant and organized, put on foot covering and placed tarps to protect carpeting.
Tim discovered a related issue in the drain line that required attention. Together, he and his helper addressed both matters and our problems were resolved.
We were pleased with the courteous attention Shane gave, and the professionalism and knowledge Tim exhibited. - Kendra P.Pleasant Hill, CA11215Jun 30, 2024
I recently had an issue with water leaking in front of my house and wasn't initially sure where it was originating. It turned out to be a Water District issue. Sheldon came out so quickly after I called, helped me immediately, spoke with the Water District to explain the situation, and didn't ask a thing of me. It was so nice to have a local and responsive professional in that exact moment. I will definitely call Lett's again when I have a plumbing need.
