    • Q:

How does Lou's Cafe compare with Ike's?

      A:

I think Lou's is better - Ike's is really messy and feels heavier/more unhealthy to me. Lou's also has a really nice kick to it because of that great jalapeno sauce!

Lou's is one of our regular weekend spots when I stay with friends in Richmond. We always call ahead as the wait can be longer depending on the day.

Our favorites are the veggie sandwich and amicado. The bread is crunchy and soft, and the ingredients are always so flavorful. They are generous with the sauce on the sandwiches, so bring napkins.

Staff are always friendly and quick, especially considering the regular high volume of customers. Already looking forward to my next weekend in SF so I can pick up Lou's!

This was my first time at the spectacular sandwich shop and we were trying to go somewhere nearby Chrissy Field since the rest of our family was already at the beach. Lol this place was right off of 19/the Presidio so we were able to get parking out in front, in a 10 minute area zone and back on path to meet up with our family.

They have a number of different sandwich options and I like how all their sandwiches have the same six components of condiments! The only thing that changes are the meat/veggie options. It was very easy to read their menu and pick what I wanted!

I ended up getting the crab melt, I did it without the jalapeño spread, but I really wish I had done a light jalapeño spread because the imitation crab was really delicious and fresh tasting, but it needed a little spice.

My boyfriend liked his CR-something like a "BLT," but it had bacon and ranch. He said it had a bit too much ranch dressing, but the taste/flavor was really good! He also liked his version of the light jalapeño spread! Lol.

The sandwiches took about 15 minutes to get granted there were at least 10 people in front of us and three employees working the back sandwich making aspect. After we ordered, there were still a line of people out the door so I'm sure this place stays busy!

All the bread and ingredients seemed incredibly fresh And juicy so I wouldn't mind coming here again!

This is that top-tier, stuff of your dreams sandwich that you'll be thinking about every time you pass through this neighborhood for the rest of your life.

Ami-cado with everything: pastrami, salami, pepperjack cheese, Lou's special sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onions, and jalapeño spread, all on a sweet crunchy roll.

A sign in the deli said something like, "Trust us, get the sauce and the spread!" So, I did.

The pastrami was probably the best pastrami I've had since I was a little girl in LA (which famously has some of the world's best pastrami).

I ate the first half of my sandwich at a nearby coffee shop, and carried the other half with me on an urban hike down Geary to the Sutro Baths.

The sandwich held up alright in my backpack, but was definitely way better fresh.

This was the best sandwich I've ever had in San Francisco so far. And the price wasn't terrible, either-- I think it was about $13.

I want to try Lou's other locations, but will definitely be back again.

Love the sandwiches here! The hot pastrami is my go-to order, and the sauce and crunch roll bread are delicious. The size of the sandwich is also pretty good!

      The good reviews strike again!
Anyone doubting the good reviews needs to just give this spot a go already. Food was so so delicious! I had the LLB special and it was delicious (definitely don't skip the special and jalapeño sauces please). The jalapeño sauce was a tiny bit spicy but you can manage. The service was quick and efficient. They accept Apple Pay / Tap to pay. They have sodas, teas, chips, etc so you can have a proper meal. The shop is a little small with no indoor seating so plan accordingly. My gf had the turkey cranberry sandwich and she loved it. We got these to go and ate them on a lil picnic. Overall this spot lives up to the hype and I will be stopping here again to try another sandwich. Give this spot a go and you won't regret it! :)

Lous is great! Close to work, and fast for a lunch stop. The buffalo chicken sandwich with Lous sauce was delicious. The staff is awesome, and they have a great selection of meats and fresh breads.

Reasonably priced, fresh ingredients, great bread quality, would come back if I'm in the area! No frills sandwich spot - no seating, pick up only. They use boards head deli meat which is amazing - standard filling is well balanced, not too saucy. Came on a Sunday afternoon and waited about 10 minutes after ordering, got the LLB special on Dutch crunch and buffalo chicken on 9 grail roll, both were solid!

Don't be like us and do an order in store, we regret wasting 50 minutes of wait. Do your order on Yelp.

They get extremely busy and the sandwiches were just okay. They had a full staff of 6 people making sandwiches and the orders were endless.

My bread was just like any other bread, the chicken was overly done and everything was just mediocre.

The clam chowder is here it's at, must must try.

Absolutely delicious sandwich on toasted bread. It's a busy shop that spins like a tip on efficiency. No seating on site. Ocean beach is a short drive and on a nice day, like yesterday, it's a great place to enjoy an amazing sandwich. The jalapeño spread was on point and really set off the roast beef and mushroom sandwich. Parking can be a bit packed but persistence is the key to unlock this gem of a sandwich stop.
