Came here for my first timer Mens Perm, looking for that Korean style perm, great location, parking outside was plentiful, my stylist was Chow! He was awesome, I enjoyed the experience there, they did a great job, on my hair and I'm in love w my perm now.

It was a bit pricy then my usual, but there was a discount, and if you want it done right, absolutely would go here, they have lots of Mens perm experience

I will most likely return again in 2-3 months for another

A San Leandro gem for Asian hair cuts, color, and perms.

I've been living in the dro for about 3 years now, searching for a haircut spot that understands my straight Asian hair and style needs. A lot of spots in the East Bay mainly focuses on cutting great fades - which is sick but not exactly the style I'm looking for anymore.

This place gets it and does so in a classy way. For a men's haircut, you get your hair washed by them first before the cut. The barber listens pretty intently and there's great back n forth. After the haircut, you get one more wash. Then have the choice to get styled with product or not.

Now, the cut is pretty expensive, but I think it's fully worth it. I plan on still going to my usual barber for a quick line up but if I need anything done on my top/ a more specialized cut -- I'm coming here for sure.

I think it's really cool that they take the time to understand the style needs and also give space to offer input. I'm really looking forward to getting more cuts here and possibly a perm in the future. Glad this place is in San Leandro!

Eric was AMAZING! As soon as I walked in I was welcomed and given a robe. Everything was neat and tidy. His assistant kept tidying up as Eric cut my hair. I couldn't be more happy with my cut. So many layers... just was I wanted for my thick hair. I'm definitely coming back!!!

Went in yesterday w my son. He got a men perm (2+ hours) And I got a digital perm (6 hours). It's my first time going to an Asian hair salon in years. It's definitely on the pricey side but the experience is worth it.

The salon is clean and modern. Ambiance is very comfortable. One thing I noticed, Instead of yelling across the salon or walking all over to look for someone to help, they communicate thru a mic and headphone. That is pretty brilliant. Also the stylists are not egotistic. They help each other out for things usually an assistant would do even with customers who are not their own, from putting on bleach or color to turning off a timer. Little things but u can tell they work as a team. The owner was a very nice lady who checked in on everyone to make sure everyone is comfortable . She also doesn't mind helping out the stylists and cleaning up the salon. The assistants are always looking for something to do if they don't have a task at hand. You don't see anyone on their phone or look bored at all.

Paul was my stylist. He was very detailed and knowledgeable. Paul took his time every step of the way, all 6 hours. He does some small talk but not too much. For the most part, he is just focused on his art (that's how I feel about stylist). My perm turns out very nice. He told me how to maintain after each wash.

I will definitely go back . I don't mind the price as long as I am happy w the result and experience

The place was so cozy and fancy, you can tell just from first step in that they're all very professional. I noticed that they kept cleaning and made sure everything was tidy. They were very welcoming and even offered some water while I was waiting.

Mr. Allen who cut my hair really took his time to do my hair, he was so focused on every detail. I really admire how passionate he is with his work. He has the talent for it so I enjoyed watching him. He made my hair the EXACT way I wanted it to be and it looks sooo good. I also enjoyed them washing my hair, it was a good mini massage. Overall amazing experience and would recommend this place to everyone. Not to mention they all looked really good, so they knew what they were doing for sure.

Did not go well showed him several pictures of what hair cut I wanted. He did not speak English. He had to have someone else help. Speak English at the end. It was nothing when I wanted. His interpreter said oh well it was a misunderstanding yeah right !!

My appointment with Sean was at 3PM. However, I was informed around 1 hour prior to the appointment that there's some delay. They asked me to come in at 3:15PM instead. It was no big deal for me as it's only a 15-minute delay. I wanted a layered haircut and curtain bangs. I showed Sean my reference photos and we went from there. Throughout the appointment, Sean was nice and courteous. He gave me tips and tricks on how to style my hair as it's my first time having bangs. He was attentive to details. I really like how he took his time to make the layers very similar to my inspiration photo. Super satisfied with the service and the outcome!

It's my first time in Lunar Hair Salon. It was bright inside and the music playlist that they have is fiiiirree. They gave me a robe and they hang my coat in their little coat rack. The price for their service is adequately priced. For the value/results and service that I got, I think it was worth it. Would come here again

My husband and I have been customers of Lunar Hair Salon for over 3 years now. Their location used to be in Oakland Chinatown and more recently they moved to San Lorenzo in a larger and more modern storefront.

We have tried many other hair salons (particularly for Asian hair) before settling down, but Lunar Hair Salon is just different from all. The owner Allen has a great sense of style as well as very high standards - him and his hairstylists will make sure that you walk away satisfied with your haircut. I personally have incredibly thick hair and Lunar Hair Salon always took the extra time to condition, cut (with careful precision), and straighten my hair for the best style (for anyone with thick hair you know how long this takes!). They are also always giving styling tips which demonstrates they really care a lot about their customers.

Overall we cannot recommend Allen and his team enough!

I never leave bad reviews but my experience here was so bad I don't want anyone to go through the same. I made an appointment for a haircut and highlights in which I requested one streak be a raccoon tail. Chao Xu cut my hair, and to his credit he was very professional and did a good job considering what I wanted. Within an hour he finished and William was set to do my highlights. Literally do NOOOOT book with this man. I'd done it because he did my friend's highlights and I thought they looked good, but I heavily regret not just picking Chao. First while washing my hair him and a coworker joked about my appearance IN FRONT OF ME while speaking Mandarin. Now they weren't aware I could understand them, but I found it extremely rude and unnecessary. I came to the salon feeling comfortable without any makeup on because I was about to get my hair done anyway, but their comments immediately set an uncomfortable vibe. He then tells me my hair was too dark to do the highlight color I requested, and honestly I think he was just trying to upcharge me for bleach but I just accepted it and picked lighter highlights instead. William then proceeded to take 8 hours to do my highlights. My appointment was at 12:30 and I left the salon at 8:30. He tried to keep me even longer for styling and pictures before I stated I had to leave. Absolutely insane considering my hair is barely shoulder length. I was not offered a bathroom break the entire time. William constantly got up and started working on others hair while in the process of doing mine without any notice. He messed up while doing my raccoon tails and fixing it cost another hour. The salon has a snack cart and one of the employees did offer me instant ramen, which was kind. However William was very misleading in telling me that the highlights would only take 5-6 hours. He spent an entire hour just parting my hair with a rod. The highlights came out alright but ultimately not what I wanted. He chose to do the placement of the raccoon tail the way he wanted and not how I'd requested it. Overall horrible experience and I ended up having to pay $675 without any compensation for the wasted time and mistakes he made during my appointment, not to mention the rude comments that were made in the beginning. Looking back I 100% should have complained but after 8 hours I was too tired to even say anything. I tipped $15 but I wish I could've specified for it to go to Chao, who I would actually come back to for a haircut.

Made an appointment the day before and was able to get started right away.

They first discuss what you want, I said that my goal was to cut away the last of my dyed hair and to get a nice u shape cut with some layers.

They then wash your hair super super thoroughly and gently, it was really relaxing!!

Afterwards the stylist cut my hair and took their time -- very detail oriented. He also communicated well and asked about my preferences for how I want to part my hair, if I want face framing front strands, etc.

It was a nice experience and the place is really pretty looking, they also have really fancy and high quality tools like Dyson hair dryers and many diff types of combs for diff hair types
