      The 2 stars I gave is not to affect the score one way or the other. Rather I'm letting the readers know of a way to register complaints or compliments to the governing body that regulatates cabs in the city:

      The Taxi Commission is always interested in hearing complaints or compliments about the city's taxi services. You can call "311" or (415)-701-2311. Be prepared to provide the details of your complaint or compliment including the date and time. You will also be asked to answer questions about the name of the cab company, the cab number and the driver's name.

      I'm disabled and every time I've called Luxor cabs, they've given me friendly, helpful, experienced drivers. They may be late but compared with the problems I get when I call Yellow cab, Luxor is WAY AHEAD of Yellow cab. On yellow cab, I can wind up with a cabbie that doesn't speak english well who deliberately takes the SLOW crowded freeway route so that I pay twice the fare unlike Luxor. On Yellow cab, I can have a cabbie who's distracted on his cell phone driving the opposite way from the way I want to go unlike Luxor. On Yellow cab, I can have a cabbie who won't help me get my old arthritic dog in the taxi while charging me for a tip. I have NEVER had those kind of problems on Luxor.

      The only real problem I've had with Luxor is that they're not everywhere in the City. They only have 200 cabs so if you're not near downtown, then you may have to wait 30 min to 1 hour if you're in a far away location (where people mainly have their own cars) like near ocean beach.

      Overall, if I'm downtown or near downtown, I'll call Luxor every time!!

      Rude and unsafe taxi driver tried to make a quick left turn on Laguna and almost hit me while walking as a pedestrian. Then proceeded to curse me for having the right of way. Avoid using this company.

      Rude and unsafe taxi driver in K713.  Avoid!!!

      Terrible, terrible, terrible, and I didn't even got a ride.
      Booked on line the night before for a 6:00am pick up, no one showed up, and when I called the operator had no records of us calling or booking, she said I will dispatch right away, 10 minutes later still no one, call again operator said she hadn't dispatched yet,I that point I cancelled this
      terrible terrible company. Long live Lyft, they came 5 minutes after my call. RIP LUXOR!

      WHY does Luxor even offer PARATRANSIT and when they Don't even honor a RESERVATION? Waited 25 minutes to no avail at 4:30am in the dark with a patient in a WHEELCHAIR going to an essential medical appointment (!) for a paratransit van: reserved and confirmed!!! WTF!!! NEEDS separate phone line for this mysterious paratransit service. Do better!!!

      STRANDED AT SFO

      I use a power wheelchair, and travel is pretty hellish to begin with. It's 3:00 in the morning and I am stuck at SFO. I'm trying to get back home after my father's funeral. The flight from O'Hare was delayed, and we didn't get in until 1:00. At that point, BART had stopped running, and there were no Uber WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) drivers available.

      So I called around and discovered that Luxor is the only company that dispatches WAVs in the Bay Area. (Yellow used to do it, but alas, no more.) I called Luxor and asked for an accessible cab. The woman who answered told me that I didn't need to call dispatch from SFO because there were plenty of cabs there, and if there weren't, there would be a man in a yellow vest ready to assist me.

      I went outside. There was no one in a yellow vest, so I went down the line of cabs that were there and asked for help. No one knew where I could find an accessible taxi.

      I called Luxor back and attempted to explain to the woman who answered the phone that there was nobody in a vest and no cabs out there. I explained that I was returning from my father's funeral, that the flight had been delayed, and that all I wanted to do was get home and go to sleep.

      Her response was to put me on hold with some terrible techno. After 10 minutes, I hung up and called back. 15 minutes later, terrible techno was still assaulting my ears. I tried to call back again, and this time, there was no human answer, just more techno.

      If I could give these assholes negative stars, I would. How much would it have taken for her to acknowledge my pain and send a cab out? I know it's "not her job", but she couldn't have helped me out anyway? I would have gladly paid whatever she had asked and left decent tip besides.

      Still stuck.

      I drove nights for Luxor in the mid 1970s while I was going to Heald Business College during the day. Luxor was then managed by Bill Lazar Sr, and was a well-run company with good service. You HAD to wear a tie on the job, or you were sent home. No more!
      Ever since Bill Lazar Sr and Jr died, the company has gone downhill, from what I have been told. I only drove two years, but that was sufficient experience for me to write a book about my adventures in cabbing during the wild 1970s!!

      5 stars for (usual) reliability, clean cabs and nice drivers and 2 stars for dispatch that's recently decided to play games with its customers.

      I called a cab last night and barely squeezed in the question "How long will it be?" before dispatch hung up on me,

      "Five to 10 minutes"

      So I get downstairs in three minutes to wait for the cab. Twenty minutes go by, no cab.

      My mobile being almost bricked, I go upstairs and call Luxor again to find out the driver "couldn't reach me on my phone and didn't see me out there so dispatch called him off."

      I was out there, waiting, and could see all directions for two to three blocks.

      Why does Luxor suddenly need to "confirm" you still want the cab by calling you before they show up? I'd just called them!

      Who has time for that?

      Luxor, stop playing games with your customers. I'm one of your loyalists but last night your new nonsense policy sorely tested my patience.

      IF YOUR CAB GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT.....you've been warned.

      What unsafe drivers & incompetent employees this company has.
      Today, cab # 175 nearly hit my front right fender on Folsom Street as he moved into my lane suddenly & without signaling.
      A honk didn't remind him what he'd done was dangerous. When I drove past him, he just made a quick glance to see who he almost crashed into.

      Not that that's bad enough. Not two blocks further up, I watched him do the EXACT SAME THING to another driver, & then STOPPED in front of her so that he could turn left.

      It's not only dangerous, it's just plain rude.

      So I tried to call Luxor Cab to advise them of cab 175 & his unsafe driving practices.
      The guy who answered kept asking for my phone number & where I would like to be picked up AFTER I had told him TWICE that I'd called to report an unsafe driver.
      When he finally understood, he said I had to call dispatch. Ummm....so if you're not dispatch, why are you asking for my pickup address?

      It's just easier to lower their already crappy 2 Star score on Yelp.

      If you still live in 1983, & use regular cabs, it would be prudent to STAY AWAY from Luxor Cab.
      Unless of course you don't mind putting your safety at risk.

      Bad driver! Off to baybridge and he cut us and called us names. he wanted us to zoom fast when there were trucks and cars left and right and called us scumbags before exiting. Flipped on him and got 317 on his caravan cab! Unethical maleducated douchebag

      Ahhhhhhhh what a rocky relationship it's been Luxor.

      You only need to take a look at my past reviews to see the ups and downs of our bumpy ride together.

      But I've finally grown up now. I'm moving on. Refusing to let you burn me any longer.

      I realize now that our long past together means nothing to you. I realize that my important appointments don't phase you. That no matter how much I tip, you won't remember me the next day.

      I waited over an hour for a cab this morning. I called back five times and each time you assured me you were working on it. You even called me to let me know that my cab was going to arrive in one minute. I ran outside excitedly. Nope. No cab in sight. I called you back. You were gruff and said you guys had made a mistake. You were s.t.i.l.l. working on my cab.

      Already late, I walked down Geary and flagged a Yellow cab.

      I called you for the last time today - to cancel my cab. I then deleted the number, listed as "luxorawesome," which I've called religiously for six years now, permanently from my phone.

      Thank you for the memories.
