Having used both Lyft and Uber quite regularly, I can say that I am a much bigger fan of Lyft than Uber with regards to their level of customer service. There have been a few times that I've had to email Lyft, whether because I was charged $5 for a driver who never showed up, or some issue with their promotion, and they were always very fast and friendly in their response. I typically received a response anywhere between 5-15mins of sending them an email, even during the few times when I emailed them at 1 or 2 in the morning! This is in stark contrast to Uber which has always given me some condescending, canned response to even my simplest inquiries.

Much like Uber, Lyft also offers a carpool option called Lyft Line. I found this typically reduces my fare 50% or more. This is a great option if you are not in a rush to get to your location. However you should be aware that sometimes Lyft will fill a car up with multiple passengers which will cause your commute time to at least double due to all the detours.

One of the features that I really like about the Lyft app over Uber is the ability to tip with the app. I dislike carrying cash on me and truly feel that a lot of nice drivers definitely deserve their tip. Although Uber claims that tip is calculated into the far price, I find that hard to believe when I'm paying $4.50 for a Uber Pool ride.

I noticed that several complaints against Lyft have been regarding the drivers themselves. While it is unfortunate if Lyft was unable to provide a satisfactory resolution to those reviewers, remember that there are bad apples regardless of the app or taxi service that you utilize. And a less than 3 star rating means that you will never be paired with that individual again. While I give 5 stars to pretty much every driver that has ever picked me up, I can continue using Lyft knowing that the less than handful of people that I have given 1 or 2 star ratings for will never be paired with me ever again.

I prefer Lyft to Uber. Prices are almost always lower and I know there is overlap but drivers seemed nicer. Maybe they do a better job with PR and marketing.

      Horrible first experience!

I ordered a Lyft 4 days in advance for my Father's transportation to his oncology appointment.

Guess what they do? They cancel his ride the morning of his appointment. I call, they make another appointment and the driver cancels again.

Each cancellation, there were no text, calls, emails or anything regarding the cancellations. Had I not called them and not been a micromanager, we would have never known and he would have been waiting for the ride.

Then the lady I spoke to refused to give me the phone number to file a grievance.

Because of their incompetence they have delayed my Father's treatment and now we have to wait months for the next appointment of this type.

Shame on them! Bastards! I'm going to file a complaint with the better business bureau.

They're fine as long as nothing goes wrong.

If anything goes wrong, you're screwed. Customer service is non-existant.

A driver didn't even pick me up, but indicated they did. There's no way to flag this on the app. I tried to contact Lyft immediately, but there was no way to do it. My app is set up to track location when it's open. It was open the entire time so they should be able to see in their systems that I wasn't in the car.

However, when I was finally able to reach customer service, they claimed I was in the car and took a death-defying ride.
The "ride" supposedly took 6 minutes, and was 6.9 miles long. The driver would have had to be doing almost 70 MPH in the city to make that happen.

When I requested a ride at 11:05pm my driver was 16min away. After 25 minutes my driver passed me and stopped way past my pickup spot and sat there for 20minutes. They said that I was picked up and the driver just sat there. I called and messaged the driver multiple times with no response. I finally got ahold of the driver and they told me there were 5 minutes away every 5 minutes while I watched them sit in the same location. An hour later the driver finally picked me up. My ride doubled in price and there is no one in customer service to speak to. You can leave a bad review on the driver but there is no selection in the help area to dispute a driver that scams you. Hopefully this brings awareness to the fact that Lyft has non existent customer service when it comes to bad drivers. You would think they'd have a protocol in place for situations like this.

This is the second time a Lyft has taken my money on false pretenses, in February a driver dropped me off my ride was $14.75,the driver hit the button to drop me off and I was charged $50, Lyft told me they couldn't get my money back even though my location is recorded, and I was dropped off at the right location which was work. Last night a driver had a wet seat and his drink holder was down,I get in thinking the driver had just cleaned up a spill, everything was in my lunch bag is always concealed, nothing is ever open, this man told Lyft I left his entire back seat wet of a brown liquid, that didn't even match anything I had in my bag, they charged me for a fucking damage fee of $150 with no investigation...they don't have a customer service number for disputes...they only have it for the safety line,my job pays for Lyft...in my 8 years I've never spilled a drink or ruined a drivers car,my bank is now involved because this is once again a fraudulent case,DO FUCKIN' BETTER!!!!

*The driver didn't hit the button to drop me off,he said I was on a whole entire location,I showed my back proof of my GPS location and drop off is how I got my money back, from my bank!!!

I guess you are supposed to videotape the upholstery before you sit down. Long time rider, though I prefer Uber and will use them in the future. Uneventful ride, after which there is a charge for damaged upholstery. I appeal the charge, since I didn't eat, drink or secrete during the ride. Driver has a photo of some seat with a stain. I have no photo of an unstained seat. The charge stays. It's good that Lyft supports their drivers. But it's angering that they will not believe a long time rider with a previously "unstained" record.

I dumped Uber because literally half the time they sneak in charges thinking you will not notice. Check your uber bill after each ride. I'm not exaggerating, half the time I got charged extra for a "waiting" or "late" fee.

At no point was I ever late. I was the one waiting for the drivers - one guy who stopped at a store or something on the way. They had the nerve to charge me for this guy being 15 minutes late. Each time I'd call and go through the ridiculous system trying to get someone on the phone to get these scam charges off. Every time there was a "waiting" fee, I was the one waiting, not the driver. I guess the driver says he'll be there in 3 minutes and shows up ten minutes later and somehow I would get charged extra for these idiots.

So I dropped uber and have not used them for a long time. Finally was going to need a couple rides so I signed up for Lyft to give them a shot. A couple rides so far and no scam charges. The charges I was quoted was what I paid - so far totally fair. No issues with the drivers.

I will update my review after using the service a few more times - either higher or lower - we'll see how it goes. I see tons of bad reviews but for me so far, no issues at all.

I got duped, I wanted to ride to hotel and his phone showed the address that I dont have in my selection. He charged me $23.09 for 3 minute ride to nearby location. Such incident happened before in SFO . The drivers want to fool customers as they do not want dirve to the requested location as it is traffic time. I got duped twice and will not use LYft again.
      Beware of such service
