Mann Excavation

My General Contractor used Mann excavation for a retaining wall and some grading work Great bunch of guys, given the nature of the work which is noisy and dirty they done a great job. Kept the neighbors off my back.

I highly recommend Mike Mann Excavation.

I had a very large remodel project in Bernal Heights in SF and I had to deal with many subcontractors as I was acting as the contractor.
This was about a 1,000 foot addition. We removed about 350 yards of soil, which is a lot! About 12' down and 20x25 feet square.

Mike and his crew were on the job for days (weeks really). The guys who operate the machinery are extremely nice guys (one guy even dealt with some folks who came over from my craigslist ad to pick up pavers I was getting rid of while I was at work). They meneuver that machinery like they're doing ballet.

Mike is easy to work with and makes every effort to accommodate your schedule and works with you all the way and not against you as I have experienced with other contractors who are as busy as he is.
He also had one of the lowest bids of the several bids I received. I had several changes along the way and other excavators/contractors may have used those opportunities to jack up the price while Mike's prices were totally reasonable. I don't think anyone would have done it for less.
Use Mike Mann for any digging project great or small and you won't be disappointed.

I found Mann Excavation through a referral and interviewed Mr. Mann before I hired him. I needed my San Francisco lot excavated and prepared before the concrete was laid. Mann Excavation was professional, timely, reasonable and fulfilled my expectations for my home project. Highly recommended and I would use Mann again.

This is the first time I ever used this site to right a negative review keep that in mind. My so called Contractor (and the reason I say so called is because he wasn't one at all, he gave a phony license number that is my ignorance for not checking) contracted with Mann excavation to excavate under my house to put in a basement living space. He gave Michael Mann a 5,000 down payment (obviously my money) on a 22,000 contract. long story short I ended up fireing my Contractor because I gave him 115,000 grand over the coarse of 6 months and ended up only getting 45k worth of work which resulted in a lawsuit before it got to the excavation stage. During the coarse of the renovation I had many encounters with Michael Mann he too was unhappy with what was going on with my Contractor. After the firing of my contractor I contacted Michael mann because I still had A contract with him and a 5,000 deposit he tried quoting me a price for the work not including the 5k when I called him out on it he seemed to forget. Long story short this guy knew I got taken for $115,000 and didn't have to do a thing to my house and kept my 5k. Really nice kick me and my family while we're down I have wife and 3 kids that is a lot of money for us. I am a reasonable guy and would have been fine with giving Mr. Mann some money for his efforts because he did try to coordinate getting the work done before things got really ugly, but i don't know how he justifies keeping 5k for not even breaking ground. A-hole. keep in mind you have to give at least 1 star.
