Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream is one of my favorite local ice cream stores. They have ice cream & frozen yogurt, desserts and gelato. If you come on the weekend for night time, the line can definitely get long, but the wait is worth it. I love the handmade ice cream here. They have everything I'm looking for in my scoops of ice cream. Great flavors and very creamy. It make me want to try all of them. There's just too many to options. They will let you sample flavors patiently while you make your choice. Finally, I tried the green tea and durian. I got the small cup with durian. The durian tastes so strong so I love it. Yum... Also you can choose a cone. However, the prices are a bit steep, but it's so worth it. Cash only!! OMG... Other thing here, they have good music, tables to sit and plenty of streets parking available. I think Marco Polo is a good choice when you visit this area. I would not go to other ice cream store because Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream is so delicious. Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream has completely stolen my heart. I will be back again and again.

Lots of unique Asian flavored ice cream that still tastes good!

Lychee - sweeter than I thought it'd be
Soursop - good balance of tart and sweet
Thai tea - tastes just like the drink but more sweet

      Parking - on the street

Went around 8:30 pm on a Saturday night and there was a 10 min wait line out the door that moved pretty fast for only having 2 employees! Was a little disappointed they didn't have all the flavors that night (almost half of the options were not available!)

Welcome Back, Marco Polo! We have waited for the Noriega Opening 7/19...
We only discovered its reopening today and we rushed to Noriega this afternoon for a Medium cup of soursop, jackfruit, and pistachio gelato.
Happiness is a cup of Marco Polo Gelato!

Food: I LOVE the lychee here. It's rich, not too sweet, and a true lychee flavor. This shop does Asian flavors really well.
      Service: Quick and efficient
Ambiance: There a few tables/chairs inside, but it's located right by the beach, so grab a scoop and head on out for a lovely walk.

I was so surprised to see Asian flavors at an Italian ice cream shop but definitely not disappointed! I got the black sesame flavor and it was so creamy and delightful. The nuttiness balanced out the sweetness so it wasn't too sweet!

This is one of the icons of ice cream out here in the Outer Sunset District of SF. Terrific gelato style ice cream in both Asian and a few traditional flavors, served in a (small/medium/large) cup or cone. Always Friendly service with a smile and good attitude! Casual "we serve everyone" kinda vibe here. =) A couple of small tables to eat at inside or walk away with your new ice cream. Credit cards, cash, Apple Pay OK.

What I love most about MP is that their gelato isn't oversweetened. Here you get to taste more of the authentic flavors and the delightful textures that Gelato should be.

      Flavors include:
      Thai Iced Tea
      Strawberry
      Pandan
      Green Tea
      Guava
      Mango
      Mangosteen
      Mint Chip
      Mocha Chip
      Coffee
      Durian
      Black Sesame
      Lychee
      Red Bean
      Jackfruit
      ..and a few more

After a year or two off the map here in SF, Marco Polo Ice Cream has reopened in a new retail location on Noriega at 46th Avenue right next door to Devil's Teeth Bakery. Unlike the rest of this city, parking is actually an achievable goal out here just three blocks from the beach. There are angled parking spaces along this section of Noriega Ave, or catch the local Muni 7 bus here.

Pro Tip: On the weekend evenings you can expect to wait in line outside, so dress warmly! With pent up demand since their reopening, some flavors were totally out.. so get there early.

We've been regular customers for years at their old location on Taraval, and also in San Jose, but we are delighted to see them back in the 'hood at their modern new location on Noriega at 46th Avenue! Welcome. back, Marco Polo!!

It's been quite busy at their new Noriega location since they have reopened their doors on 7/19/24. Constant line out the door all throughout the day and well into the night but it's been moving quick.

Service was quick and efficient as usual but many of the more popular flavors were out when we stopped by this week. To name a few...Guava, Mangosteen, Soursop, Green Tea, Strawberry, and Thai Tea but thankfully, some were still available in pints. Not a deal breaker, there were still plenty of other flavors to choose from. I think they still need to adjust to the demands of their new location which is great, that only means that business is going well since their return! Yay!!

Parking on Noriega seems to be much easier too. We've been able to pull right into a spot on the weekends, even with other eateries near by.

So happy to have you back in Sunset, Marco Polo!! Thank you!!

IT'S BACK! There is even a Welcome Back promo for the new location with 15% off your purchase. My family and I have waited for the new location to open. Our favorite gelato place on any day especially when it's hot.

The parking here is easier than the previous location. It's still street parking, but there's definitely more spots. It's closer to the beach if you want to take a walk.

The line gets long because the days are warmer in the summer. Families consist most of the lines and I am sure they have been waiting for it to re-open. The inside is modern, nice and clean. There was only one guy working. Bless his heart. There is a sign in the window looking for cashiers and people to scoop ice cream. So if you're looking for a gig, they're hiring! ($19.50 an hour)

Unfortunately, the consistency of the gelato is not the same. Maybe it's the flavors we chose, but they were melted so it dripped and they had just run out of napkins.

However, the flavors are still great! The unique Asian flavors are the reason we keep coming back. The fruit bits in the lychee, the taste of the taro (not ube cuz there's a difference) and the family favorite jackfruit are to name a few. Sesame is also one of my favorite flavors, but I decided to try different ones this time. There is always a next time. Totally recommend especially during these summer nights. They're open late usually until 10.

I'm back. My last visit to Marco Polo I got the Coffee VSOP cognac ice cream which had more of a coffee taste than a VSOP ( adjust to your liking) . This time I am back to sample the Durian. Navigating the voyage to Marco Polo's new location you have know your San Francisco Alphabet .The last location of Marco Polo was on Taraval (T) which is a representative and makes up of the alphabetic order of avenues in the San Francisco Sunset District which are connected to the numeric avenues. Landed on " N" ( Noriega) and it's an upgrade. The main differences is in the location. Although the last location was close by McCoppin Square Park this is located closer to Golden Gate Park. You can explore Ocean Beach and The Zoo which is a few blocks over. At this location you are able to enjoy the surrounding nature while having some tasty ice cream. Before ordering I was wondering if I had to hold my nose for the Durian ice cream. The smell of Durian fruit is a hybrid between rotten and spoiled similar to the city blocks I roam on the streets of San Francisco. The Durian tasted better than expected and it was tasty. I also tried the Lychee which is growing on me and one of my favorites because it is not too sweet. The other flavors I really enjoy here are the Vanilla Bean and the Fresh Strawberry's. There is another surprise Nextdoor(not talking about the app).

Come get the best side by side next door neighbor sweet and savory dessert champion duo on Noriega, Introducing Devils Teeth Bakery and Marco Polo Ice Cream packing major flavor that's mega

We were happy to hear MP reopened over 3 weeks ago and came back looking for a pint of their dark chocolate, sold out. They only had 4 flavors available in pint size, so we got sesame and vanilla pints plus a scoop of gelato in a cup, $6. We mixed 2 flavors in the cup - coffee and guava. I didn't like the guava as much, it had a guava candy like flavor, unlike the bottled guava juice you buy at the grocery stores. The scoops didn't seem as firm maybe the freezer isn't cold enough.

We're very glad to hear MPolo is back in business. Sadly, they're farther out near Ocean Beach which is not as convenient to get to.
